My Inspiration Behind the Adjustable Pegboard Shelf

My name is Tiger, and I'm a producer on Nifty. Today, I'm going to show you how to make an adjustable pegboard shelf. My inspiration for this piece was that I was living in a place where I wasn't planted yet, so I knew I was going to move. But I wanted furniture, but I needed that furniture to grow with me. Hence, an adjustable pegboard shelf because it adjusts to my lifestyle to my needs and whatever new things that I gather.

I wanted to create something that could adapt to my changing needs as I moved from place to place. As someone who loves to travel and try out new things, I knew I needed a shelving system that could keep up with me. An adjustable pegboard shelf seemed like the perfect solution - it's customizable, versatile, and can be used in various spaces.

The process of making this shelf was quite involved, but I'm excited to share it with you. In the video, I used a whole saw, and for the whole saw, I had to flip the board over so that the wood wouldn't split. However, you can also use a forcer bit, which might work better for your needs in some cases.

One of the main features of this pegboard shelf is its adjustability. Each shelf can be adjusted to fit any size or shape, making it perfect for storing various items such as keys, hats, clothes, books, and even plants. I personally used it for my bedroom, as that's where I hang out the most.

However, keep in mind that dowels come in different sizes, and there might be a slight variation. To ensure a snug fit, I simply stuck the dowel into the hole and used a hammer to secure it.

However, you can use thicker washers if you prefer - I just happened to have thin ones available, which worked out well in the end.

When hanging up the shelf, it's essential to ensure that it's properly leveled. I recommend taping a leveler on the top edge of your shelf before putting it against the wall. Make the marks where you need to drill and then use wall anchors to secure the shelf to the wall, just as normal.
