Unboxing and Reviewing the Logitech Solar Keyboard Folio for iPad
Today, we're going to be unboxing and taking a look at the Logitech solar keyboard folio for the iPad new generation. This device is interesting because it works with the iPad 2, 3, as well as the iPad 4th generation, which makes it a versatile option for those looking for a portable keyboard solution.
The packaging of the Logitech solar keyboard folio is standard, and it includes a basic usage guide that provides instructions on how to set up and use the device. Upon removing the cover from the box, we can see that the keyboard has a nice chicklet style layout with two buttons located at the top for battery power on/off and Bluetooth settings. The batteries are stored in a small compartment within the cover.
The design of the Logitech solar keyboard folio is quite impressive, as it seamlessly integrates the keyboard into a protective cover that can hold an iPad. This allows users to easily carry their device with the keyboard attached, making it perfect for travel or everyday use. When we inserted our current standard Snap-on smart cover on top of this Logitech folio, it looked fairly decent and had a magnetic part to keep the Smart Cover in place.
The best feature of this device is that it does not require batteries because it continuously works thanks to the solar cells mounted on the device. We first saw this keyboard at IFA in Berlin, and it looks like Logitech has perfected its design for this new product.
Once we inserted our iPad into the cover, we could easily use the keyboard by simply placing it in front of the screen. The cover charges the batteries using these solar cells, making it a great option for those who want to reduce their carbon footprint.
The finish of the Logitech solar keyboard folio is also quite impressive, as it has an almost leathery texture but is actually made of polyurethane, giving it a rubberish feel. This is similar to how some high-quality leather products are made. The device seems nice overall and will be used for a couple of days before we do a full review.
We will tell you in the full review if this added thickness to the device was worth it for those who travel with their iPads all the time and always type on them while they're away.
