How to Make Pop-Up Panda Toast & Bento Sandwiches
Creating Adorable Pop-up Toast Ponds: A Step-by-Step Guide
Hello and welcome back to another M-made how-to today! I'm excited to share with you a fun and easy project that's perfect for kids and adults alike - making cute little pop-up toast ponds using the Tokyo otako mode Bento kit. This kit is a great way to get creative in the kitchen, and it's also a wonderful way to spend quality time with your family or friends.
The Tokyo otako mode Bento kit comes with a few cookie cutters that can be used to create adorable pop-up toast ponds, as well as other fun designs like cute little frogs. The kit is available for purchase on the website mentioned in the description bar, and it also includes a bunch of other Japanese-themed items that you might find interesting.
In this video, I'll be showing you how to make these adorable pops using the Tokyo otako mode Bento kit. To start, we need to soften our slice of white bread and put it in the microwave for 10 seconds. This will make it easier to cut out the shapes. Next, we'll line up our cutter and press firmly to get a nice impression of the face or design on the bread.
Once we've got our shape, we'll separate the top of the bread and crisscross it behind the bear's head to create a pop-up effect. You can adjust the amount of crisscrossing to achieve the desired level of depth for your pops. One tip I learned during trial and error is that the ears of the bear tend to get a little bit dark, so we can use aluminum foil to cover them up.
Now that our bread is ready, it's time to toast it in the toaster oven until it's lightly browned and golden. You can also add some Nutella to the eyes, nose, and ears for extra flavor and detail. To make a sandwich using this kit, we simply cut our bread in half again, microwave for another 10 seconds, and then use the cutter to cut out the bear shape.
The best part about this kit is that it includes a few accent pieces like a crown, bow tie, and heart that can be used to add extra details to your pop-up toast. We can also use these to create cute little sandwiches for our favorite snacks. To assemble our Bento, we simply place the toasted bread on top of each other, add some lettuce, cheese, or other fillings, and voila! Our adorable pops are ready.
Before I move on to the next section, let's talk about bread in Japan. If you're planning to buy white sandwich bread in Japan, it usually comes in a small stack of four to six slices, which is square in shape, and very thick - similar to this Texas toast. In contrast, sandwich bread in the US is typically half as thick and sold as Texas toast, which is often used to make French toast.
For this project, I highly recommend using Japanese-style bread that's thicker than regular sandwich bread because it will give your pops a better pop-up effect. If you can't find it, just be aware that it might not work as well as it would with the right type of bread. And remember, when it comes to contrast and aesthetics, white bread is always the best choice for cutting out shapes.
Moving on to the finished Bento, I must say that it turned out adorable! Here's a close-up shot of the little froggy and bear, both of which were created using the Tokyo otako mode Bento kit. I added some grapes and pretzels as snacks because they're my son's favorite, but you can use whatever ingredients you like.
