D3Live: Apple vs. Google vs. Microsoft

**D3 Live: Tech Talk with Gam**

In this episode of D3 Live, we're discussing various tech topics with our host Gam. We kicked off the conversation with a question from an audience member about who is the leader in Xbox Live or PSN Network at the moment. Gam shared his thoughts on the matter, stating that he thinks Xbox Live is currently the leader. He cited several reasons for this, including the fact that there are more features available on Xbox Live compared to PSN. However, Gam also acknowledged that if rumors about PSN Premium are true, it could potentially jump ahead of Xbox Live. The audience member was interested in hearing Gam's thoughts on this and asked him to elaborate.

**Bing vs Google: Search Engine Showdown**

The next question from the audience was about who is the leader in search between Bing and Google. Gam stated that he thinks Google is currently the leader, citing its accuracy and speed as reasons why it's the best choice for searching. He mentioned that while Bing has a nice interface, it doesn't seem to be as accurate as Google. The audience member asked if they should consider using Bing instead of Google, but Gam was skeptical about this option. He explained that Google is so well-established and widely used that it's hard to imagine anyone switching to Bing.

**Choosing the Best MacBook**

The final question from the audience was about choosing the best MacBook for filmmaking on YouTube. The audience member mentioned that they're still deciding between different screen sizes, including 13, 15, and 17 inches. Gam shared his thoughts on this, stating that he thinks the sweet spot is a 15-inch MacBook with a Core i7 processor. He explained that this size would provide enough power for filmmaking while also being portable enough to take on the go. However, Gam noted that budget will play a big role in choosing the best MacBook.

**Conclusion**

We wrapped up the episode of D3 Live by thanking our host Gam for taking the time to answer the audience's questions. We apologize for some technical issues during the call, including a lost connection and poor audio quality. Despite these challenges, we were able to have a productive conversation with Gam about various tech topics. We'll be back next Saturday with another episode of D3 Live, where we'll discuss more tech-related topics and answer questions from our audience.

**Post-Show Update**

Gam promised to post the video of this episode on his blog, as well as make it available to watch live if interested. He also invited viewers to call in during future episodes to ask their own questions. We're looking forward to seeing what's next for D3 Live and catching up with our host Gam again soon.

WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey guys and welcome to the second episode of D3 live so guys today as always we will be talking about a tech topic and this time I'm going to go ahead and go over a big one it's going to be Apple versus Google versus Microsoft um guys you know a lot of people will get a lot of questions a lot of people say oh well Google's going to you know beat both of them and you know Apple's the best or whatever but you know it's not like a straight up War I mean you know it's not like you know Mac versus PC or you know Chrome versus Internet Explorer versus Safari guys all three of these companies are huge and they compete on a very very large level each of them have many many different products I mean they're all in phones web browsers search uh you know computer operating systems computer hardware I mean guys there's a huge amount of different things that they're you know competing in so basically I'm going to go ahead and do is kind of go over a few of the you know a few of their categories I'm also going to go ahead and give you guys my opinions on you know who's leading wear and all that kind of good stuff um so guys let's go ahead and start with probably one of the you know more bigger topics lately which is phones um now all three of them are really big into phones right now we have apple which of course has the iPhone um you know the next iPhone will be coming out here in the next couple days um there's iPhone OS 4 which will be coming out Apple's really really big in phones guys right now I mean it's it's there's no doubt it they are huge in phones um Google's also getting really big into phones they have Android and Android there are I mean looks like every other day it seemed like there's another Android phone coming out I mean a lot of them are really unique take for example the HTC Evo 4G it is probably one of the best phones on the mark right now it runs Android and then of course we have Microsoft with Windows Phone 7 Windows Phone 7 will not be out actually till the end of the year and really guys Windows mobile 6.5 is nothing to talk about um really when 7even comes out is when everybody's going to really start looking at Microsoft and Microsoft has a pretty good looking system right here I mean the phones are all going to be have to be I believe all Snapdragon processors or better um going to have a very very cool UI in Windows Phone 7 and you know they've got a really good thing going I think um now which one will win you know I don't really see in the phone market I don't see a winner I mean you know a winner might be 15% Market sh in a play in a field of like you know five or six or seven different people so I mean you know you don't have to be a winner to you know make a ton of money and you know get a lot of good products out um but I will say that the iPhone is looking almost Unstoppable I mean yeah Android is really picking up a lot of speed and there are a lot of phones that Android just you know with Android are just fantastic but you know the iPhone is a big big deal everybody knows the iPhone I mean it's not like you know when you see an app it's made for the iPhone it's not like an Android phone where it could be on 50 different Android devices and might run differently and stuff I mean apple is really on top of the game so I don't see I see Android contining to go up I see Windows Phone be doing pretty good but I really don't think iPhone's going away or you know is going to start losing out to either of them um so the next thing we're going to talk about is browsers of course all three of them have their own browser um Microsoft obviously has Internet Explorer um Apple has Safari and Google has Chrome um now guys this one's a lot shorter and I think it's pretty clear that Chrome is an a just a great browser I mean you've got Chrome on all plat all major platforms Windows Mac and Linux um and it's a really really great browser it's fast it's secure and it's got a really really streamlined interface I just mentioned the fact that Google has really been you know plugging it they've really been you know advertising it they've really been you know doing a lot of work to continue to improve it Internet Explorer has been bad for years guys Internet Explorer 9 will be coming out late or I'm rather early next next year and it should be better but to be honest until we see more we just had a few preview builds I'm not even going to I mean based on nx4 8 and seven and six which are all just not very good at all I don't really see them jumping up ahead of chrome anytime soon saari actually might Safari 5 actually might be coming out here in the next couple days so the rumors say and you know they actually have a few good features that might be good but again Safari is a very goodlooking browser especially on the Mac side it it looks really nice with you know know the cover flow and everything but it's not there's nothing really that special about it I mean add-ons Firefox and chrome does better speed Chrome and Opera do better um you know I mean it's just not a great browser in my opinion so again I say Google you know in the lead here now next we're going excuse me guys next we're going to go ahead and go to you know operating systems for computers now again all three of these guys are getting in on this one now obviously guys Microsoft is hug huge right now with you know windows I believe like about 90% of computers these days when you buy will have Windows on it and you know there's a reason for that Windows is a really solid operating system Vista Vista wasn't as bad as a lot of people say but it still wasn't that great um but Windows 7 really is solid I mean honestly guys I use Windows 7 and it is probably the best uh OS I've ever used it's solid it looks great it's smooth it's fast I mean I can't say enough about it it's it's an excellent uh operating system but you know there's a lot to be said about Apple and Os 10 um OS 10 has a lot of you know a lot of people love OS 10 and for a good reason I mean it doesn't have as many viruses although you know anything if it's technology anything can get a virus really so I mean I hate when people say Max don't get viruses they don't get them as often okay I mean but that's just a little pet peeve of mine um you know OS 10 is a really good operating system as long as Apple doesn't take their eyes off of the Mac side and you know because the iPhone is getting so huge right now if they start taking away from the Mac to go to the iPhone I can see I mean Mac might go down pretty fast you know because obviously Windows is you know continuing to climb and you know Chrome is going to be working with Google so if as long as Apple continues to focus on the Mac side continues to innovate continues to really get some good stuff in they don't see you P going anywhere they might not jump up and you know beat Windows immediately but as long as they can keep you know a lot of people who love it and you know as long as I keep putting out decent operating system I don't see there them having any problems now we come over to chrome chrome of course is coming out later this year with Chrome OS which is a which is one of the most unique operating systems it's in its Simplicity guys Chrome OS is basically a browser that's it it's the Chrome browser um basically but instead of you running it on Windows or running on Mac it's going to be that's the entire thing turn your computer Chrome open opens up you turn off your computer Chrome closes that's the whole thing um now the way they intend to do this is very well it's a very kind of Google like approach it's going to be focused on the internet uh now the internet of course you know I would say that's a a huge majority of the time you get on computer you want to get on the internet I mean that's the way a lot of people are that's the way I am um and so Chrome OS is going to be really focused on this um it's going to be based on Chrome and so it's going to be pretty secure in the fact that it's not like you know you're running a bunch of different things it's Chrome okay there's not like you know you're having apps and this and that you're just running Chrome and you know a cool thing is it's going to have a lot of things such as web apps and stuff that'll actually run very similarly to you know how a normal computer would run for example Gmail is very similar to you know a lot of like email clients well of course you know chromeos will support that but they really plan on ramping it up and with HTML 5 they can they can go ahead and you know write video editors photo editors um a lot of more in-depth stuff that you would expect that you could run your browser and you know the really good thing about this is that even though this stuff might be made for Chrome OS it should run on any computer with a modern browser so guys I see a lot of you know ups and downs with Chrome OS you know of course you can't run a lot of your own stuff on there it's got to be you know up on the internet and really guys if you're if you have Chrome OS computer and you're not connected to the internet you're really not going to be able to do a whole lot so I don't see Chrome OS instantly you know taking up as huge bunch of market share people using it um so I really continue to see windows I don't see anytime in the next several years Windows all of a sudden you know start people quit using it but I do see some uh pluses in mac and Google so we'll just kind of have to wait and see about that okay guys so now for the second part of D3 live which is taking live Skype calls I'm doing this all in front of Blog TV and I got a bunch of people who who are calling in on Skype so let's go ahead and take a few questions hello are you there Tech tube are you there yep hey what's your question man yeah I'm sorry my question is do you see apple making their own search engine that's actually a good question um I don't think it would be that bad of an idea but you know just taking it off of uh the uh the conference the other day with Steve Jobs he actually said that you know goog search is something that other people like Google do well and he he basically just said that's not something we're interested in getting into I don't I'm not so sure that that wouldn't change in the future but for the mo for the moment I don't really see that happening but you know we you never know you have any more questions or oh all right well hey thanks for calling okay hello are you there yeah yeah it's 43 eyes again oh hey man what's going on um I have like three questions go ahead um my first one is um do you know what um the Asus tablet when it's going to be the real EST estate uh well there are three of them the uh the 101 the 121 or the uh that that uh touchscreen e-reader thing I mean the one running Windows 7 ah um I believe they said uh that one would be coming out the first quarter of next year so it it'll probably be a while but yeah I believe they said first quarter next year okay my next question is um I have an Asus computer so would I be able to trade that in to get like a discount or something um probably not um usually they don't do those kind of things but if you have but you do have a computer if you want to of course you could sell it on eBay or whatever you wanted to and get some money like that but I don't think they would have an official to do that um and my last question is do you know what the release date for the Android 2.0 is uh that's already up I mean I mean 2.2 2.2 um it's not I don't think there's going to be an official release date it it'll come out on different phones at different times um a lot of phones were getting it um you know like people are hacking it on to their I believe the Nexus One and the Droid are going to be the two first phones that we'll get them and that should be soon um but I would expect in the next couple months that you would see it start uh fro yot to start rolling out all kinds of phones and my final question um it's not really a tech question but I was wondering if you could do a shout out to me or something okay what's your name on YouTube 43 eyes Okay well there's your shout out right there okay thanks for calling okay bye okay let's go ahead and go ahead and get another call so if you guys want to go ahead and call in hello Max are you there yeah I'm here what's going on making a video what's going on you got a question oh yeah if you have any smartphone that's on the market right now um which would it be that's a great question um to be honest I don't know how I don't know if I was buying a smartphone right now I would absolutely wait until Monday to see what the next iPhone's all about we know a lot about it but I just couldn't buy a phone right now until I see because you never know what they're going to add but there if I was going to buy one today it probably would be the HDC Evo 4G that is a just a crazy phone I mean you know you have 4G you got Android you got a Snapdragon processor you got a front-facing camera a huge screen I mean it's there's so much about it to like you know yeah yeah that's all right well thanks for answering my question hey no problem thanks for calling in let's go ahead and take a look at the next question hello are you there hey what's your question hello yeah yeah I got you uh it's me and I was wondering where do you see uh technology in 5 years oh man that's a hard question I don't even know what I see technology in one year uh I see a lot more uh focus on the internet I see a lot more um I see you know Chrome OS I think that's going to be a bigger thing I I know if it it'll actually be Chrome OS itself but I see a lot more data being going out to the cloud I see um a lot more computers getting a lot faster but also a lot more focused on just getting on the Internet just you know not not running a bunch of you know like Windows today runs a lot of stuff but I see a lot of it can be focused down and just solely on the internet you know I also see a lot of stuff Getting Thinner and smaller and faster but you know that's the kind of normal stuff that you know always happens any other questions or uh no that's it thanks thanks for the question okay let's go ahead and get another call here hello are you there hello there yeah can you hear me hey you might well turn your volume down just a little bit okay okay what's your question okay can you hear me yeah I can hear you just fine okay m Warfare 2 or Halo 3 oh okay um well Modern Warfare 2 is a good game I mean there's no doubt that's a very very good game but I like Hal love plate for a while I'm not a huge fan of either to be honest I like a lot of other I like I tend to like you know like Fallout and you know like open world games but I kind of have to go with Halo I mean there's there's no beating good match of Halo you know what yeah and uh when you going to get Xbox Live I don't know man my Xbox has been breaking so much lately I don't know if I'm going to spend all that money to get it and then it'll break again and I don't know yeah it is really good you should get it m well hey thanks for the question all right thank you okay hello are you there hello um I'm gam in the chat by way okay uh I've got three questions what um so the first question is uh who do you see is the leader in going at the moment Xbox Live or PSN Network right now I think Xbox live I mean you know the service is great and there's a lot of features that you don't get on PSN but you know if a lot of the rumors were true about PSN premium I could see that jumping ahead of Xbox live I mean you know being able to get you know like free demos of any game being able to download PlayStation original PlayStation games I think that could be a pretty good thing yeah cuz I saw the um PSN like the premium stuff on the internet I didn't know whether to believe it and like I just want to see what some some people felt on YouTube and like so I thought that was a good question to ask oh yeah definitely yeah I mean yeah go ahead go ahead um second question is uh who do you see is the leader in search Bing or Google I know Google is but I just want to see what you think yeah Google No Doubt B has a nice interface but yeah I just find that when I'm searching i' I've tried bang I mean I actually used it for a couple weeks just comparing it and it just doesn't seem as accurate I don't know if it's just because I'm used to exactly how Google works and you know and you see Bing's a little different I mean if Google wasn't around I think everybody be okay with Bing but Google just see it's it's faster in my opinion I mean everything just loads instantly almost and the the results just seem to be better you know yeah um my third question well my last question really but um what what do you think is the best MacBook um is it in like these sizes cuz um I'm I'm like a filmer for YouTube and I want to get up screen flow but I'm still easing back and forth not sure what to do really so well it depends on I mean it a lot of it depends on your budget I mean you know if you don't if you don't have the budget for like a 15 or 17 inch the 13 would probably be okay but really I think the sweet spot right now is the 15in with the core i7 processor if you have the money for it it's going to be a really power F it's probably one to be the the most powerful Macs around short of maybe like the iMac or the MacBook Pro I mean sorry the Mac Pro I mean you got the core i7 but it's also in a pretty decent size that I mean that would probably be able to you know handle a lot yeah because always I've always had problems choosing products from Apple I've like been thinking whether the iPhone or like to get an Android phone and this has been my biggest one to think about oh yeah M yeah thanks for answering my questions no problem thanks for the call okay let's go ahead and take one more call here guys hello are you there hello oops and we lost you okay let's try one more real quick here having just a couple issues in Skype but it's not as bad as the other day Okay Okay blur are you there oops okay I'm sorry you're got a bad mic here okay guys well that will be it for this second episode of D3 live um like to thank you guys for watching and you know if you want to know more definitely stay tuned I plan doing this every Saturday did last Saturday I'm doing it this Saturday um I plan starting so guys today as always we will be talking about a tech topic and this time I'm going to go ahead and go over a big one it's going to be Apple versus Google versus Microsoft um guys you know a lot of have like three questions go ahead um my first one is um do you know what um the Asus tablet when it's going to be the real EST estate uh well there are three of them the uh the 101 the 121 or the uh that that uh touchscreen e-reader thing I mean the one running Windows 7 ah um I believe they said uh that one would be coming out the first quarter of next year so it it'll probably be a while but yeah I believe they said first quarter next year okay my next question is um I have an Asus computer so would I be able to trade that in to get like a discount or something um probably not um usually eyes Okay well there's your shout out right there okay thanks for calling okay bye okay let's go ahead and go ahead and get another call so if you guys want to go ahead and call in hello Max are you there yeah I'm here what's going on making a video what's going on you got a question oh yeah if you have any smartphone that's on the market right now um which would it be that's a great question um to be honest I don't know how I don't know if I was buying a smartphone right now I would absolutely wait until Monday to see what the next iPhone's all about we know a lot about it but I just couldn't buy a phone right now until I see because you never know what they're going to add but there if I was going to buy one today it probably would be the HDC Evo 4G that is a just a crazy phone I mean you know you have 4G you got Android you got a Snapdragon processor you got a front-facing camera a huge screen I mean it's there's so much about it to like you know yeah yeah that's all right well thanks for answering my question hey no problem thanks for calling in let's go ahead and take a look at the next question hello are you there hey what's your question hello yeah yeah I got you uh it's me and I was wondering where do you see uh technology in 5 years oh man that's a hard question I don't even know what I see technology in one year uh I see a lot more uh focus on the internet I see a lot more um I see you know Chrome OS I think that's going to be a bigger thing I I know if it it'll actually be Chrome OS itself but I see a lot more data being going out to the cloud I see um a lot more computers getting a lot faster but also a lot more focused on just getting on the Internet just you know not not running a bunch of you know like Windows today runs a lot of stuff but I see a lot of it can be focused down and just solely on the internet you know I also see a lot of stuff Getting Thinner and smaller and faster but you know that's the kind of normal stuff that you know always happens any other questions or uh no that's it thanks thanks for the question okay let's go ahead and get another call here hello are you there hello there yeah can you hear me hey you might well turn your volume down just a little bit okay okay what's your question okay can you hear me yeah I can hear you just fine okay m Warfare 2 or Halo 3 oh okay um well Modern Warfare 2 is a good game I mean there's no doubt that's a very very good game but I like Hal love plate for a while I'm not a huge fan of either to be honest I like a lot of other I like I tend to like you know like Fallout and you know like open world games but I kind of have to go with Halo I mean there's there's no beating good match of Halo you know what yeah and uh when you going to get Xbox Live I don't know man my Xbox has been breaking so much lately I don't know if I'm going to spend all that money to get it and then it'll break again and I don't know yeah it is really good you should get it m well hey thanks for the question all right thank you okay hello are you there hello um I'm gam in the chat by way okay uh I've got three questions what um so the first question is uh who do you see is the leader in going at the moment Xbox Live or PSN Network right now I think Xbox live I mean you know the service is great and there's a lot of features that you don't get on PSN but you know if a lot of the rumors were true about PSN premium I could see that jumping ahead of Xbox live I mean you know being able to get you know like free demos of any game being able to download PlayStation original PlayStation games I think that could be a pretty good thing yeah cuz I saw the um PSN like the premium stuff on the internet I didn't know whether to believe it and like I just want to see what some some people felt on YouTube and like so I thought that was a good question to ask oh yeah definitely yeah I mean yeah go ahead go ahead um second question is uh who do you see is the leader in search Bing or Google I know Google is but I just want to see what you think yeah Google No Doubt B has a nice interface but yeah I just find that when I'm searching i' I've tried bang I mean I actually used it for a couple weeks just comparing it and it just doesn't seem as accurate I don't know if it's just because I'm used to exactly how Google works and you know and you see Bing's a little different I mean if Google wasn't around I think everybody be okay with Bing but Google just see it's it's faster in my opinion I mean everything just loads instantly almost and the the results just seem to be better you know yeah um my third question well my last question really but um what what do you think is the best MacBook um is it in like these sizes cuz um I'm I'm like a filmer for YouTube and I want to get up screen flow but I'm still easing back and forth not sure what to do really so well it depends on I mean it a lot of it depends on your budget I mean you know if you don't if you don't have the budget for like a 15 or 17 inch the 13 would probably be okay but really I think the sweet spot right now is the 15in with the core i7 processor if you have the money for it it's going to be a really power F it's probably one to be the the most powerful Macs around short of maybe like the iMac or the MacBook Pro I mean sorry the Mac Pro I mean you got the core i7 but it's also in a pretty decent size that I mean that would probably be able to you know handle a lot yeah because always I've always had problems choosing products from Apple I've like been thinking whether the iPhone or like to get an Android phone and this has been my biggest one to think about oh yeah M yeah thanks for answering my questions no problem thanks for the call okay let's go ahead and take one
