The Valentine's Theme: A Review of the HTC Viv Case
I just got a notification, and it looks like I've got to love these live videos. Okay, so that's how it's going to look. I got a Gmail notification, and it looks quite flashy, especially with my M8 phone, especially at night time. You don't really get too much fuss about this case in the daytime, but when you're out at night, it's a different story.
This is a fun case, and for 35 bucks, I'm not complaining too much. The design is functional, and I like how the app looks. It's easy to tell that it's a Gmail notification instead of a regular mail envelope. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd say this case gets a win for 35 bucks.
However, there's one problem with this case - it doesn't stay closed. I don't know if it's supposed to have a magnet on it, but that's the only issue I have with this case so far. The material is also a bit of an issue. When you put it in your pocket, it catches all sorts of lint and dust, which can be a real pain to clean out.
One thing I do like about this case is how cool it looks on my M8 phone. It's got a nice matte finish on the back, with the HTC logo prominently displayed. The camera is also protected by a little rubber shield, which is a nice touch. However, as I mentioned earlier, the lint-catcher material can be a bit of a problem.
Overall, I'm feeling this case, but it's not without its flaws. At 35 bucks, you'd expect a bit more quality and durability, especially considering the issues with the lint-catching material. Nevertheless, if you're looking for a fun and functional case to add some flair to your M8 phone, this might be worth checking out.
Now that I've got my theme set up, I'm ready to move on to something else. I used to rock with the weather display, but now we have more choices for themes. I'll play around with these new options and see what I can find. Maybe someone has a cool bmwm theme that I can check out later.
Speaking of themes, there's been some excitement in my Twitter feed today. Somebody tagged me with a shout-out, asking if I'm feeling this one theme or not. Well, let me tell you, I am feeling it. I love the rocket ship design - it's so cool and futuristic-looking. I think it would look great on my M8 phone.
As for the rest of my social media feeds, I've got a lot going on today. Facebook, 4 Square, Twitter, Google+, and Voxer all had messages waiting for me before I even started recording this video. It's always great to connect with my followers and see what they're up to. And let's not forget about Instagram - that's where I'm at full-time, rocking with the Amazon Warrior crew.

originally going to get this case when the phone first came out but I went to Best Buy and they wanted 50 bucks for this and I was like uhuh that's a no no so I waited and I found it a little bit cheaper so first up let me show you the website real quick so you can see where to get it from of course go to Amazon I'll throw the link up in the description all right so we got the genuine HTC viiew premium flipshell case now this is for your new HTC1 M9 now the price on Amazon $34.99 all right so you're looking at 35 bucks pause this and read it for yourself if you want but this is a genuine HTC product phone functionality without opening the cover creative and retro Matrix UI instant notification and interaction through the case elegant and complete protection all right 35 bucks so we CAU a $15 savings just by waiting a couple of weeks so let's take a look at this now everybody knows the original ACC viw case was one of my favorite cases for the M8 but the only problem with that case is it didn't stay closed so this one supposedly has a magnet on it so we'll check it out simple ACC presentation y'all already know black and green now it comes in four colors you got the lime green you got blue you got pink and you got the grayish Black Version now don't get this case confused confus with the HC ice version the ice version is the one with the clear back all right that one has a little bit more protection all right now how should we open this up do I grabb the little unboxing knife or y'all want to just activate beast mode I already know what y going to say fellas activate beast mode ah ah okay okay okay all right all right 6 o'clock in the morning fellas let's not let's not start the day off too hard all right deactivate beast mode for now let's see what you get inside okay so here's your Dot View getting started guide and we'll just file that to the side and here's the case now this pretty much looks exactly like the do view case for the M8 pretty much looks the same okay now I see no magnets on here let's see if it actually uh makes a difference though plastic on the back rubber on the front the side is completely open so you got access to your power button your volume up and down the bottom is open so you got your microphone your micro USB charging port top is wide open I Blaster status on Deck simple case now 35 bucks for this you're basically paying for the functionality so let me drop it on my HTC1 M9 and we'll see how it looks okay now it just folds right on the case and this is it okay now I don't matter of fact hold on a second let me turn the lights down for a minute so yall can get a better look at this let's let's get it dark in here all right there we go all right so we get a better look now okay so this is what it looks like now this is some random background you can see I got a Google+ notification got some more notifications got a Miss phone call this is kind of tough all right this is a lot better than the original version now let's see let's go to HTC settings real quick and let's see how we could uh tweak this up so all you got to do is go to your settings menu find personalize and look for Dot View okay so here we go now when you go to Dot View you're going to have a bunch of choices all right on your menu side you got themes apps and settings so let's take a look at all of them first though now here goes your themes all right you got the weather you got simple red just a bunch of different colors and patterns let's take a look at this uh Army joint okay so let's see how it looks okay now can't really see the Army one too much maybe because I got too many notifications let me just clear these notifications real quick and we'll uh try again all right okay now you can see the Army this looks tough all army fatigue status now you can see I got some Mis calls all right Frank and Fred shout out to Frank all right now let's uh go let's go back to the settings real quick let's play with the settings real quick this this is kind of tough now 35 bucks you're not paying for protection with this case all right you're basically paying for the uh cool Factor the wow factor all right that's what you're paying for so now you can change all these themes let's check out holiday themes now you got holiday themes the good thing about the holiday themes are these all pop up automatically on the holiday so if you if it it was February 13th and I had this fatigue setting soon as it was Valentine's Day the next day it would automatically change to Valentine's Day now not too many holidays right here they'll probably updated with some more and you got the live themes all right so let's check out a live theme real quick let's check out this uh Skyline View and see what play with that one we'll get rid of that play with that that app if you want then you got dot breaker okay let me see did I close it too early okay so we'll do level one okay now this is like a old school arcade old school uh pinball what you go I forgot the name of that game from back in the days I haven't even played this one yet uh breaker that's what it was breaker ah all right let me let me something like this now all you do is close the case oh I didn't apply I didn't hit apply let's see okay now you just got a phone number going across you can put whatever message you want now a lot of people say this is kind of gimmicky why would you even use this but I can think of an immediate use for this say I'm at a car show or something and um you know I'm selling something out the trunk I'll have this in the windshield of my car and when people walk by I have a nice message with the number on it you can actually have this on your desk when you go out to lunch all right lock your phone up but out to lunch you know just something this this is just something that looks cool and if you like me you like to be the coolest person in the office this is just another uh another feature right there to this uh little app let's see what else we got let's go to settings okay so when you go to settings you can change the timeout you can turn it on and off you could uh select what notifications you want to receive through the front now as I can see I checked everything and when you hit more there's a lot of apps you could choose basically everything on the phone that pushes not notifications is uh pushing it is able to push uh through this case so all of my apps all right so that's a nice little feature right there basically overall this case is sick all right this case is pretty sick let me see um let's see if I let me let me do a quick phone call and we'll see how it looks that's that's probably my favorite part about this case is when you get a phone call okay so let's uh let's let's let's call myself real quick now it's probably going to come up private but we'll see please St your name after the tone and voice will try to reach please state your name after the tone floss all right now it's my computer ringing in the other room let's wait for this okay here we go all right see so it was unknown number but that's what it's going to look like let me hang up this one that's what it's going to look like and you could have just slid up and answer the phone call all right so that's kind of tough this works with all the Motions so if you swipe down let me do the motion again let's pick it up and do a motion I might have turned off matter of fact I think I turned off the Motions but when you swipe down you get your uh what is that you get your you get your your voice search okay okay I do have it on okay you got your voice search there you go voice search now the case is a is rubber so it's a little bit sticky so you got to play with it let's uh let's let's swipe up all right too many notifications now I just got to play with this case a little bit more figure out how to clear these off but this just looks tough and I don't know why it keeps going back to that uh champagne glass screen whatever let me show you something real quick before we get out of here I know I know I know let me show you something real quick now there is a way you can make your own view case yeah your own do View background let me just uh find it on the menu real quick talk about yourself I just did it a few minutes ago okay here we go all right here we go all right so from the themes menu I I I totally missed that plus at the top you hit the plus you got themes gallery and Camera all right so let me go to my gallery and let me pick a photo real quick now I had to pull back from behind the camera I want y'all to see all all the uh nudes I got in the phone all right now say I want to use something like this like just my the front of my car now it's not going to look that great but let's uh see how it's going to look okay so we'll we'll hit apply and we'll check it out let me get rid of the notifications first though I know too many notifications okay here we go okay now you can't really see it but I'm pretty sure once I start playing around with with it I'll have a nice way to figure out I'll figure out a nice picture that looks nice with that retro look now if youall don't know what the Retro look is this is the old school old school pixelated kind of look this is just nice on a modern-day device all right so this is in my opinion this is a goal now 35 bucks way cheaper than the 50 let me let let's try one more theme let's do one more theme way cheaper than the 50 they wanted that Best Buy I'll definitely you know 35 bucks for this not bad all right not bad $50 for this h man I I probably would have paid it if I had to but I rather not okay rather not let's uh let's let's let's do one more thing theme let's do a holiday theme real quick
