Galaxy A3, A5, A7 - OnePlus Ditches Invite System - HTC Smartwatch Rumor - Android Weekly

**Samsung's Latest Mobile Devices: Galaxy A5 and A7 2016**

Samsung has released its latest mid-range mobile devices, the Galaxy A5 and A7 2016. These devices take design cues from the flagship Galaxy series, featuring aluminum frames and glass backs. However, unlike the more expensive flagships, these two devices include functionality that was previously reserved for the elite of Samsung's ecosystem, such as cameras with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), fingerprint sensors, and Samsung Pay integration.

The smallest member of the family, the 4.7-inch Galaxy A3, is less powerful but still offers decent specs. The report confirms previous rumors about the migration of certain features down Samsung's mid and entry-level range. All three Galaxy A 2016 devices feature AMOLED displays, a 13-megapixel rear camera with double tap to launch, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. They also support LTE, microSD card slots, and Android 5.1.

The Galaxy A7 features an octa-core processor clocked at 1.6 GHz, paired with 3 GB of RAM, while the Galaxy A5 comes with the same processor but just 2 GB of RAM. The humble Galaxy A3, on the other hand, features a quad-core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz and 1.5 GB of RAM. All three devices will become available in China this month, with the rest of the world getting them early next year.

**OnePlus Exchange Program for OnePlus 1, 2, and X**

OnePlus has started an exchange program for prospective owners of its older smartphones, including the OnePlus 1, OnePlus 2, and OnePlus X. The program allows users to register their old smartphone on OnePlus's website or the Red Globe dedicated page to qualify for the exchange program.

To participate in the program, users must select a smartphone online, where they will receive an invite code for the device. Once the invite code is used, the user will be sent a page where they can redeem insurance for the service and apply to receive an Amazon gift card in the amount of their old phone's worth. The exchange program aims to provide users with a convenient way to upgrade to newer OnePlus devices.

**Shin Jong Keun and BK Yun Step Down as Samsung Mobile CEOs**

Samsung has announced that its head of mobile communications, Shin Jong Keun, and another co-CEO, BK Yun, will be stepping back from day-to-day operations. This comes after a questionable year for Samsung's mobile division, which saw a 38% drop in mobile profits due to more expensive components and excess unsold stock.

Shin Jong Keun has been with the company for nine years and will be replaced by Kodong Jinn, who was involved with the launch of the Galaxy S6 and Note 5. The announcement marks the latest shakeup in Samsung's management, following three marketing executives' resignations last year. The changes aim to bring about a fresh start for Samsung's mobile division.

**HTC Smartwatch Rumors**

Rumors suggest that HTC is coming out with a smartwatch early next year, with the device codenamed "Halfbeak". According to Evan Blast AKA EV Leaks, the HTC 1 watch will be announced in February 2016, around the same time as Mobile World Congress 2016. The rumors claim that the watch will feature a circular display with a resolution of 360x360 pixels.

While these rumors cannot be confirmed just yet, they offer an exciting glimpse into what might be coming from HTC's smartwatch division.
