House Tour + Before & Afters (8 Years of Progress)

Introduction to the House Tour

Hey guys! Welcome to our house tour. Your timing is actually great. We've been working on something for the past eight years, and this might be one of the first times we're sharing it with all of you. We're excited to show you around our home, which has become a true reflection of our creativity, love, and dedication to each other.

Our Home: A Reflection of Our Love

As we walk through these doors, you'll notice that our home is a bit unconventional. It's not perfect, but it's ours, and we're proud of every inch of it. We've put our hearts and souls into making this place a true sanctuary for us. From the quirky decor to the handmade furniture, every detail has been carefully chosen to reflect our personalities and interests.

The Decor Game

A lot of this is ours. We feel like there should be a "take a drink" every time you see your project in the background game. It's a running joke between us, but we're also proud to show off the fruits of our labor. We've made everything from spin art to candles, and each one has its own special story behind it. Some of these pieces have even won awards, thanks to all of you who have supported us on our creative journey.

The Cat Wheel: A Cautionary Tale

One of our favorite features is the cat wheel. It was a great idea at the time, but unfortunately, we didn't think about how much joy it would bring to our furry friend, Joobie. She's a bit of a scratcher, and that corner just became her playground. We've had to patch up the wall a few times (and by "a few times," I mean several), but it was worth it to see her so happy.

The Dining Room: A Table for Two

This is one of my favorite rooms in the house. The table is enormous, and we didn't want to cut down our beautiful butcher blocks, so we went with the bigger table instead. It's perfect for us, as we love spending time together and sharing meals on this big, wooden surface. We also swapped out the original light fixture for a chandelier, which adds a touch of elegance to the space.

The Kitchen: A Work in Progress

The kitchen has already been updated by the previous owner, but we were tempted to repaint all the cabinets. Luckily, Katelyn convinced us otherwise. Instead, we've focused on making it our own, with a few subtle changes that reflect our personal style. The orange cabinets are definitely a statement piece, and we're glad they added a pop of color to the space.

Conclusion

That's just a sneak peek into our home tour. We hope you enjoyed seeing a little bit of our lives through these walls. It's been a labor of love, and we're so grateful to have such wonderful friends like you who support us on this journey. Thanks for joining us, and we can't wait to share more of our adventures with you!

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: en(gentle piano music)EVAN: Right, liftwith the knees.(grunting)Oh!Hey guys!Hey guys!Your timing is actually great. We've been working on somethingfor the past eight yearsour house, and this might bethe very last timewe'll get to showit off to you guys.So come on inside, it'stime for the house tour.No need for that anymore.Oh my!(talk show music)(gentle music)EVAN: It's recording.(gentle music)(door clicking)(Evan laughing)Anticlimactic.(door clicking)(both laughing)KATELYN: This video isbrought to you by Squarespace, the all in one platformfor all your website needs.(Evan laughing)My heart.Okay guys, well, welcome to our house tour. This is something thaty'all have been asking forfor a really long timeand to be honest, we'vebeen a little hesitantbecause it's often insome percent of chaos.Yeah, I mean, (indistinct)cut us a little bit of slack. Our job is making the stuffand we have doneour job very well.Every single room in this homehas something thatwe've made in itOr things that we'vedone to the house itself. And that's a big reasonwe want to share this, there's so much workwe've put into this houseand we have so many before andafters to share with you guysof projects we did long beforewe even started the channel. And we also wantto share the statusof lots of the DIY projectsyou've seen from the channel. And this is our very first home, looking back at when wefirst bought this house, looking at those befores,I honestly was likeshocked at how far we've come.Like I was literally shockedand I just like had togive Katelyn some praisebecause she saw thevision of this house. There were some rough spotsand a lot of you guys probablyhaven't seen all of it yet,so I'm excited to take you guysalong this journey with us.So, we can start with the roomwe're in right now, which is the entryway. And there's not much.Like you walk in and aregreeted by a brick wall.Yeah,I mean, we did the best we can.We made thiswonderful entry table. We replaced the blinds.Yeah. I mean the biggest thingand this is throughout thewhole house is the floors. This used to be like aold cracked white tile. And then right past this brickit was a beige carpet.Beige carpet.(gentle music)So guys, come on over heretowards the main living roomand we'll show youthe main space, which sold us on this house.(gentle music)I'm sorry, are wedisturbing you?JOOB: Yes.(Evan laughing)So, this is our living room. This is probably the room thatkind of made us buy the housebecause look how tallthe ceilings are. This is harder to findin the age of housewe were looking at,and this is an older house. It's also open to thedining room and kitchen, which we'll go intoin a little bit.The kitchen isstill a very yellow,we'll get to that later.Oh yeah. This room, focuson the nice stuff.Yeah, look at this room.BOTH: Wow!Wow.EVAN: I can't believewhen we first moved in,we moved all of ourapartment furniture in here. And we just put up this likemedia center, Ikea thing, that was a few unitsacross and two tall units. And it looked soawkward in this, against this really long wall.Yeah.And so, we ended up gettingnew Ikea media centersthat span the whole lengthbut 10 out of 10 decision.Great.I just remember like moving inand we set up our twochairs right thereand we were trying to choosethe right new hardwood floorsto choose for our house.Laminate wood floors.Oh!No, that's not hardwood.Hardwood lookinglaminate floors.Well, the funny thing is,so like we said, that beigecarpet expanded all in hereand the floors wasone of the few thingsthat we did hire outbecause it was just so beyondour experience at the time. And when they pulledup the carpet, there was a pitcher'smound of concretebuilt up under the carpetthat they had to grind downand pour more sub floorand grind it down againand pour more sub flooring.Well, it's becausewe live in Houstonand you know, houses settle.Older houses havefoundation issues.Yeah.So it makes sense. You might see some cracks inthe background of this videoalong the-No, no, don't show them!Just leave it in the background.(Evan laughing)Leave it in the background.Yeah.Also, when we first moved in,it was also not benefitingfrom Katelyn's wonderful tastesof like furniture and decor.Like we had my oldlike man couches, like no decor up anywhere.Speaking of decor, alot of this is ours.I feel like thereshould be like atake a drink every time you seeyour project in thebackground game.Oh no, that's dangerous.Of water.Of water.Responsibility.Hydration is very important. So, we have..I love letters.Pendulum paintings. And a lamp. The catcus.Catio.Yeah.Geode table whichis now the standfor our equipmentsfor Joobie's streams, because Joob streams now.Yeah. She's a great streamer.Evanandkatelynalt on Twitch.Yeah.The side table. The 2 x 4 side table. The coffee table.Joobie's scratching post.Joobie's other scratching post.Tensegrity table.I mean, this hasheld up very nicely. The only thing thathasn't held up though iswe didn't think about howmuch Joob corner scratches. She'll put one paw here andone paw here and go to town.JOOB: I destroy.Yeah, I wish that we kind ofwrapped that around the corner. And behind the camera...Behind you guys, if you wouldjust get out of the way.The art ledge and the catwheel, kind of off to the side.Okay, I'll give anupdate on the cat wheel. So, the cat wheel,(Evan laughing)it was a great idea. And honestly she diduse it for a bit. We'd be in theoffice, down the halland we'd hear her run on itand we'd have tocome bring her ham,as was right and proper. And then, thoughtless me,I didn't put anti-slippads on the bottomand Joobie was gettingmore and more enthusiasticabout the cat wheel. She scrambled and jumped on it.And since there is no...It's just wood against wood, the whole thing movedand it spooked her.And ever since then-She hasn't used it.She hasn't used it.When we havenon-existent guests over,we want the firstthing they see, past the brick wall, to bea giant cat hamster wheel.Cats are welcome.Bring your cat.Probably not, Joobiedoesn't like guests.Yeah.JOOB: No.(gentle rock music)Joobie, should we showoff the dining room next? So, here is our dining room.Honestly, this is my otherfavorite room of the house. This is the table room. The entire thing is taken upby the biggest table, ever. It's so big.Well, we had this table, whichwas like a Craigslist findand then Ikea had, this is not an ad for Ikea, they had these butcherblocks on sale.We used two here and wedidn't want to cut them downbecause why have a smallertable when big table good.Yeah.(Evan laughing)But I do love this room. One of my favorite things iswe swapped out the off centerboob light for the chandelier. You can still kindof see the holewhere we patchedthe original light.Oh, that?Oh no, you can barelysee that at all.So, we replaced that. These built-ins did exist. They used to have abouttwice as many shelvesand we just tooksome of those out.But this is wherewe get to displaymore of the things we'vemade and our plushies.having things that you lovedisplayed can make a difference.Again, we made a lot of these, the spin art, the candle. We have an award insome of the things here, thanks to you guys.Thank you again. And they also store awhole bunch of thingsthat we don't love.Should I show offall of your decorthat you've been hiding in here? No, no, no.No, no, no?Okay. Is it time tomove on to the kitchen?Yes, yes, yes.Okay, come on in.(Evan laughing)Welcome to the kitchen.Orange, you glad that we arespending some time in here?(both mock laughing)Anyways, the kitchenhad already been updatedby the previous owner. We had been thinking inour heads multiple times,we were tempted torepaint all the cabinets.Katelyn said that fromwhen we first moved in,she was like, \"I'dlike to paint these.\"We should've doneit eight years ago.Yep.But we didn't, andthe more we waited, the more it didn't make sense tobecause they're in fineshape, they're just orange. They're fine. But they're just,we just don't like them.We did do some things though. We added thispendent light here.We did our pantry door.Yeah, it looks wonderful. And even before the channel,we upgraded these shelves. Those actually didmake a huge difference.Yeah, yeah.We made like somenice wood shelves. And honestly there'sstill a few projectsthat we'll need to get tobefore we sell the house.Like...(both nervously laughing)Anyways! We have cooked someamazing meals in here. This kitchen hasdone right by us.I was going to talkabout the floors, making a really bigdifference in here, but also being a challengebecause like tryingto find floorsthat clashed theleast with the orange, that was tricky.I don't know if we succeeded, but you know,we committed and it'sbetter than it was. It's a lot better than it was.(slow elevator music)But it really opens things up,having it flow fromone room to another. So, this is the breakfast nook.Just a standard, everydayfamily's breakfast nook.AKA the treadmill roomAKA the place where wekeep our extra hot Cheetos.Thank you to everyone whohas sent us hot Cheetos. We're kind of like fundamentallyagainst the idea ofhaving two differenteating spaces just for us.We just didn't need twoso it seems like a wasteto have a table in here. So, we've constantlybeen trying to figure outhow we want to use this.Yeah.There've been desks here. There has been storage here.Like I can't keep trackof it all anymore. We use this to put allthis stuff in our garagein here when we cleaned it out. This used to be the junk room. This was the junkroom for a bit. We'll show the currentjunk room later.(both nervously laughing)But this is currentlywhere we keep our benches.Rainbow bench, ripple bench.Hey, there's some projects. There's another project. This isn't thebest place for it,for the black hole tablebut you know at a certain point, you don't need more side tablesso you just put it somewhere. But yeah, again, this room...Oh, this used to havea fan right here.Oh yeah, it's so muchbetter with just the lightWhich Evan used toalways hit his head onso we did a flush Mount light. But I mean,I think this is a prettygood use of the roombecause we do likeusing the treadmillsand using the monitors. And honestly we don'tplay games on it much.We basically just watch TV.Or YouTube.Yeah.But yeah, it's a littlebit of a weird choice, but you know...That's one of theperks of having a home, you can customizeit just for you.Yeah.(upbeat music)And I hear a Joobiemunching over here.Shall we go disturb herin the laundry room? This is the room wherewe probably have donethe most extreme renovation. Our laundry room.I know it actually kindof looks like it didwhen we finished it.Yeah.It is missing themobile streaming setupbecause we just did a streamand so that's in the garage.Normally, there'sa big platform herewith a bunch oftechnology and monitorsso it doesn't lookquite as cute. But I mean, we'restill really happywith how this room turned out.The counter has been great. And the cubbies, althoughJoobie didn't really likeher litter box in here soit's in a different spot.I mean, but also this is...Our history withthis room goes backa lot farther than thevideo that you saw. When we first moved in,there were some reallynasty tiles in here, that we tried to do ourselvesand it did not turn out well. When we had the flooring redone,we thought we'll just havethem demo the old onesand we'll do the new ones. It'll be great to likeget our DIY chops. So, we tried to do ourown floor leveling in hereand it did not go well at all.We were just mixing upthis self leveling concreteand pouring into this roomand trying to scrape it smoothand it just keptgetting worse and worseand thicker andthicker and thickerand then we would sand it downand we were like, \"Okay, youknow, maybe we're not DIYers.\"(Evan laughing)It was a bumpy startto our DIY journey.Hey but we painted the walls. This is the one room we painted.(Evan laughing)Because it's one ofthe smallest rooms.Yeah, exactly.I like how this room turned out.One of my favorite thingswas from our project. This, we still hecking love, the custom freezer top,but yeah, I think wekind of used this roomas one of our like DIYexperimentation rooms.Yeah, figure out what weliked and we don't like doing.Yeah.So, to the door on myright is the workshopwhich you guys have seenyou know, in the camera viewbut we thought it'dbe nice to sharesome of the parts ofyou haven't seen too.Welcome back to our garage. If you've been watchingour channel for a whileyou've probably spent moretime with us in this roomthan any other place. But you are probablyused to just seeingthis littlerectangle right here. We're going to showyou the whole thing, the good and the bad, take you along with the journeyand show you what's worked andwhat hasn't worked in here.First off, oh my gosh guys, can I just give our AC a hug?Without this-Would the channel be possible?I don't think so,I don't think so.I just remember whenwe'd film our old videos,we'd get so sweaty and we'dhave to take AC breaks. We would come out here, film, keep our energy upfor a little bitbut the Houston, Texas heatwould just like drain us.We'd go lie down on the floorand then come back out here.Should we take itback a little bit?Talk about some of the stuffwe did in here early on.Yeah, I mean, when wefirst started in herethe only lights that wehad in the entire garagewere these two, letme turn them off.Wait, turn off your lights.Let's bring it back, old school.Old school Evan and Katelyn.Literally, thiswas our lighting,so we had to filmduring daylight orjust be okay with this. We're constantly battlingthe sun and the weather.(rain pouring)Things are fine.Yeah. So, early onwe fixed the walls. We added storage everywhere. The walls were insuch rough shape. There actually used to be ahuge hole hiding back here. The previous owner hadtacked like some bricksin front of it,I guess to hide it, I don'tknow, but it was massive.(thudding)(Katelyn groaning)You did it with your knuckles, you want to really hit it,go like...(thudding)(thudding)(Katelyn groaning)This isn't how thegarage always was. When we first moved in here, the garage door waskind of falling apart.Yeah, literally paintwould peel off in chunks.Yeah.But honestly also likepainting the wallsmakes everything looka little bit prettier, even though we never showthis side for reasons. For obvious reasons. And reasons and reasons. One area that we don'ttalk about too muchis our cold storage area. This is where wejust store thingsthat we don't use that much. Then there's all ofthe scraps that we havefrom all of our projects.Like they just layerdeeper and deeper. And then you don't evenknow what's back there. We definitely needto rethink thisin our future placewhen we figure that out.And then, I'm so glad that weadded all of these cabinets. Each one of these arefilled with suppliesadditional tools, all of ourtape, all of Joobie's tape.JOOB: Is my tape. You know what we haven'treally ever talked aboutbecause we did it beforewe started the channel?Something that'sworked amazingly well-The work bench! The work bench. On YouTube there'sso many videosof people building work benchesand guess how many Iwatched before I made this?We actually designed itwith products in mind. These floating shelves herewere supposed to be dryingracks for concrete coastersbecause we were sellingthem at the time. And now it's just usedfor like gloves and crap. But like this thinghas been so sturdy.I built it in a single day.By yourself.By myself. And I don't know howbecause those are big slabs.Yeah. I don't reallyknow how you do thoseby yourself either, but it's worked great.I was younger back in my prime.Remember when we triedto add sound foamto make our audio better?Yeah. One just fell downand ripped the ceilingand we were like, \"You know, maybe we don't need it.\"(both laughing)Now, one thing I would havewished that we had doneis epoxied the floors. You know, we've slowlybeen epoxying them, tiny bit by tiny bit.Yeah.Not the most efficient. There's so many things thatwe've learned from this place.A big thing is justconsolidating things also.I mean, we have woodhere, over there, up hereand then we have a decentamount of wood down there too.And I think it'sbecause our storageand this workshop in generalhas grown very organicallyand we've added thingsto it as we needed them. And hopefully going intowhatever our futureshop ends up being,we can plan it outa little bit better.(gentle music)Like the garageand what this space means to us,it's so special tous because honestly, this was where we launched ourchannel more than anything.I mean, fixing the dry wall, putting up the garage storage, those were some of thefirst videos we ever filmed. This is where it all began. And it's verynostalgic being in hereand thinking about potentiallymoving out in the future. And it's just weird.Yeah.(gentle piano music)Looking around this garagelike you said, thereare so many memoriesand specificallyone of these toolsbrings back somememories of our patio. When I started...Well, let's go out thereand we'll tell the story.A cool hammer.KATELYN: What areyou going to say?I guess I just haveto wait and see.(slow tropical music)The pateo. The pateo.Remember when we thoughtwe were going to demo this?Oh yes. That was one of thevery first projectswe thought we would do whenwe bought that sledgehammer.I just remember being herewith your mom, for some reason.EVAN'S MOM: Oh my God!Are you sure you guyswanna take this up?KATELYN: You were in flip-flops,marching back with thesledgehammer over your shoulder. With no safety glasses on.And were like, \"Let's justsee how hard it would be\"to demo the patio.\"It's so damaged and it'ssagging in the middle.EVAN'S MOM: Do you reallywanna start cracking it now?Why don't you doit whenyou're ready to do it?I just wanna crack onelittle piece, the cornerI'd been watching alot of Fixer-Upper,I was very ready-Ready for demo day.(both laughing)And you know, I took a swingand I got the process started. Is it recording?KATELYN: Yeah.Because it's hammer time.(thudding)Oh yeah!KATELYN: Did it do anything?Yeah.Hey look, you see that crack?Oh!(thudding)(Evan laughing)Okay.KATELYN: Okay.Woo!And it only took us three years-To pay a professional. To pay a professionalprofessional to do it actually.Well, I'm so gladthat we did though. The old patio slab was like...KATELYN: Fullysunken to the ground.EVAN: Thick too.Wasn't it like a foot thick?I don't... yeah.Three feet thick. It was three feetof solid concrete. But upgrading the patioactually inspired usto put some timeinto our backyard. One of my favoriteupgrades was addingthe matching fence panelsto the back of our fence.Yeah.Remember how bad that looked?Yeah. And addingthe string lightsand I really like ourgrass wall art still, which has held up.It has held up.Well, you know, another thingthat we haven't talked aboutis the paint.I mean, I think it's held up.It's dirty right nowbecause of all the pollenand it just rained. It hasn't like chipped offanywhere though, which is good.Yeah and last, butcertainly not least, the catio, it's usedalmost every single day.She just hecking loves it.She definitelyuses her the catiomore than we useour human patio.(slow tropical music)And that wraps up the patio.JOOB: Humans werebad at blogging.I blog now.Maybe seeing our house tourmakes you want to startyour own home DIY blog too. That's how the supervisor felt. So, she set up a blogon supervisor.com,a website she made usingtoday's sponsor, Squarespace.EVAN: It was so simpleto set up a new blogwith Squarespace, even for a cat.JOOB: How rude! She could even do amember gated contentbecause that's builtinto Squarespace.JOOB: Sign up for my OnlyHams.EVAN: Or sell an unlimitedamount of her own productswith Squarespace's suiteof e-commerce tools.KATELYN: And it's notjust website building, she can buy domains too, even with all those featuresand so many more Squarespacewebsites work flawlesslyon mobile and younever have to worryabout maintaining plugins.EVAN: So, go to squarespace.comfor a free trial. And when you're ready to launch,go tosquarespace.com/evanandkatelynfor 10% off your first purchaseof a website or domain.(boop)Okay.Back inside. And now it's finally timeto show you our shame room.(Evan laughing)Shame!Shame!Shame!(Evan laughing)This room is really justbeen a constant battle ofus trying to make it look niceand then it eventuallyfills up with stuff, and then we try to makeit look nice again, and then it fills up with stuff.Well, Katelyn, youknow what's natural,a natural thing in the universe?Entropy. And that's what we'vebeen fighting against.I mean, when we first moved in,this was a cute little guestbedroom that we never used.Yeah, exactly. And we thought, \"Hey, you know, this would be a great place\"to put our 3D printer cart.\"Let's build thisnice 3D printer cart,\"which you can barelysee right now.And then we decided, \"Webarely have guests here.\"Let's maximize spaceand build a Murphy bed,\"and honestly, great choice.I still stand by this Murphybed and the built-ins.We've had someone actuallysleep here like twice. And I much rather preferour junk sitting herebecause if itwasn't sitting here,it would be everywhereacross the house.I guess you couldlook at it that way.Preferable than the alternative.Depends on what alternativesyou're thinking of.I might have some otheralternatives in mind. So, we added the Murphybed, stand by that decision, and then we did aguestroom revamp make-overwhere we updated thelight to this nicer light. We updated the curtainsto something a littlebit lighter and breezier. And we built this desk.Added the desk, themirror, the chair.Yeah.And during theoutro of that videothis room looked thebest it's ever looked.Even with the 3D printer cart. Can we just call that the afterand then forgetabout all of thisbecause underneath this allis a cute little roomburied under this.Yeah.We bought this housefor the two of us.This was a reasonablesize house for thatbut we're also now runninga full time businessand that involvesa lot of stuff. You know, at a certain point,as this room was gettingmore and more filled up,we were like, \"You know, let's just start filling it\"with storage units\"because then at leastwe can go vertical.\"And this is where we keepa lot of camera equipment.Yeah, I don't think we've evershared that we added this. No, because it doesn'treally look that great. And it's just like outin front of the windows, like it's not a great placement.(both laughing)I think if we werestaying in this house, reconfiguring the3D printer cart, because we've gottenrid of some 3D printers,we've gotten some newsmaller 3D printersand it is no longer optimized.I think getting rid of thatand doing some ofthese units here, going all the wayup to the ceilingand just getting ridof some of this stuff. But who can get rid of thingswhen you can't even reach them. Now I will say, to givethis room some credit, there is one personthat loves itand spends a lot of time here. And that is Joob.JOOB: I'm exposed. This is her chairunder the desk. She really likesthis little hideawayand she likes to peekout and spy on usas we're doing stuff. It's been a journey. It's been a downhill struggle. Not fully down to downhill,it's been uphill, downhill, uphill, downhilland we're at the down.(slow guitar music)You ready to go tothe other rooms?I think next, we shouldgo to our office, which is the placewe spend more timethan any otherplace in the home.Yes.(sneaky music)All right. With this room, I've goneback and forth where to startbecause we do somuch in this room.We basically live in here. The majority of all of ourdays are spent in here. But before we talkabout how it is now, let's go back in timebecause when wefirst moved in here, this was actually ourwedding planning area.I basically linedthe room with boxeslabeled very meticulouslywith the vendorthat was responsiblefor the contents of that box, what was in thecontents of that box, when those boxes needto be distributedand it got very intense in here. But then, this room kindof became our junk roomslash Evan's officefor a little bit.Yeah, and I set up myvery first 3D print, our very first 3Dprinter in here, that I convinced Katelynwould definitely leadto something great. But I remember thiswall had the pegboard, some floating shelves, some of which eventuallymade it into the garage. And then, over here thisas a standing desk desk.Desk version one.(upbeat electronic music)We can't forgetabout the whole sagaof our podcast streaming desk. When we firststarted the podcast-I'm just looking, everyone hereis getting the view ofthe wires in the back. When we first started,we only had a few electricaldevices on this deskand it was a lot smaller. We built this wonderfulLED resin rainbow desk. And I think this is stillour most viewed video, this desk that you canbarely see under hereWe've added to itand added to it.And it's greatbecause it is builtwith these aluminum framesand you can add alot of weight to it.We have(fast forward audio)three laptops, acomputer down here, these two monitors are ourtwo streaming computers, these three monitors right hereare our streaming computer.I mean, there's a lotthat goes on here.I feel like I coulddo a whole videojust on this current setup. One thing that wenever talked aboutin any videos, because itdidn't make it into a videoThe green screen frame.I just did this likean evening one day, when I was like, \"We justgot to do it real quick.\"I bought these white boards, lights around the edgesand I was like,\"That's good enough.\"Plus it makes forgreat prop storagefor when we're doing thumbnailsfor the gaming videos.Yeah.Evan and Katelyn Gaming.(Katelyn gasping)Oh my God!Not the arrow.I thought thearrow was in there. No, no, no.I think one thing...Oh, sorry, I got sweaty. One thing that we haven'ttalked about yet is our closet, that was a whole project.Oh yeah, this closet is amazing. Here, I'll just sit(Evan laughing)so you can see it.It's gotten a lot more fullfrom the last time youguys saw it on the channelbut honestly like theshelves are beefy, they've held up,we got tons of labels. It's actually prettyorganized in here, even though it'sa little chaotic.Art supplies and electronics, video cables and USB cables, projects that wenever really got to.But I think ultimately one thingthat we've realized overthe past several years,we spend so much time in hereand we really want toprioritize the officein wherever we end up next,as like a really nicespace to hang out inbecause this istechnically functionalbut it's very crowded.I can barely back upmy chair sometimes, when we're streaming, when Evan chests to squeezepast me, it's almost impossible.Yeah. We need toprioritize this roomin the new place a lot more. And that's where youfell through the ceiling.Oh, yeah.(both laughing)Lots of great, fond memories here. Most 2 x 4s are aspace 24 inches apart.(Katelyn squealing)You know, you barelyeven notice the placewhere I fell through the ceilingbecause we covered itwith these sound...(Evan coughing)(both chuckling)These sound dampening panels. And you actually built littlecustom hanging hardware for it.There is a lot of stuffthat we have to build, for our job, that doesn'tmake it into videosjust because likewe need it fastor it's not reallythat interestingbut it all adds up to everythingwe've put into this house. This is a very customized house.Yes.(Evan chuckling)(gentle music)Okay. So, let's go to the next room.Yeah.Hello there.Hello there.(both laughing)Welcome to our smallguest bathroom.Oh,you activated it.Ah!Perfect.(Evan laughing)Just wanted to show it off.So, you mostly shouldrecognize this roomfrom our mood ring toilet seat. It's really, the only thingwe've done in here. It's the folds! It's the folds.(both laughing)It's very evidently my butt.I didn't think it'dbe so high def.And it's an amazingpiece of technology.Wow.I mean it's held up super well.Okay. You know, what's funny though? We thought by putting thisin our guest bathroom,at some point, someoneelse besides the two of uswould use it, thenthe pandemic hitand no one was coming over.We like a couple ofdays ago had someonedoing some work on the houseto help prep it for moving, and they wanteduse the restroom, said, \"Oh yeah, around the corner.\"And then we realized, (gasping)it's the mood ring,it's the mood ringand we didn't warn them, they're not like friendsor family of ours, like they don't know that wemake weird things on YouTubeand we're just sittingthere like, \"Oh,\"this is like awkward.\"And I was thinkingabout this person.(Katelyn laughing)(indistinct) in our bathroomon a mood ring toilet seat, and we're like, \"How weirdwould that be if you just\"went to someone'shouse to do your job\"and you're like\"What is this?\"\"(Evan laughing)That will come withus to the new place.Oh, yeah, this is ours.Anything else in herethat we want to show off?We have our (indistinct)Ikea hack light. Some candles and soaps thatyou guys have sent to us.Thank you very much. And that's kind of it.You know, it's a tiny room.Yeah.I'm kind of getting sleepy, wanna move onto...Onto the bedroom?(Evan giggling)(romantic music)Our room.Yeah.Remember when we came inand it had the brown floorsand the brown curtains? It was looking a little rough.Old fan.Oh my gosh!Guys, the hardest partof this room renovationwas probably the fan, because it washeld in with nails.(horror screeching)They were thick and like bent, shoved into the wood.It was so impossibleto get the old fan downso that we could putup with the new fan.Why wouldn't you use screws?I don't know, I don't know.Oh man!But also this was the veryfirst project we ever didfor our channel. Our dresser. Our dresser.Remember when a wholeproject was justreplacing knobs on a dresser.Hey, we were learninga lot about filmingand how to talk.Distance between holes.(slow electronic music)(Katelyn laughing)We've actuallysince added a thirdbecause we neededmore storage spaceso it used to be two. You'll also notice thatthis is where Floodle lives, looking magical as ever.He still looks great. And also like, wow,I was really worriedabout it collecting dust, but it looks just as fine andfoofy as the day we made it.I think if there is dust, you just can't see it.If I get close enough, there'smaybe a little cat hairbecause someone else reallylikes to hang out in this room. This is also her room.(romantic music)I think another big thing wedid in here was the doors.Oh yeah.Ooh.Yeah.Door look great.Yeah, and that made areally big difference.(romantic music)And of course,I mean, we refer to itin every single videobut the floor, having unified floorreally ties everything together.Yeah.Other than that, not too muchhad to be done to this room.We just kind ofupgraded furnitureand hung some art and-Made it our own.Yeah, made it our own.(romantic music)In the bathroom we diddo a little bit of work.Yeah.Oh man, remember all ofthe grout scraping you did.Yep.(romantic music)Okie dokie. Now we are in our bathroom.Welcome.Welcome.So, this space hadactually been redoneby the previousowner, which was nice,it wasn't the originalbathroom to the house. It wasn't necessarily exactlythe layout andfinishes we wanted. For example, there's no door. There's no door.(Evan laughing)It's something wedidn't even noticewhen we bought the house,we just were so excitedabout the generallayout and everything,we just didn't even noticethat there was no doorbetween the bedroomand in the bathroom. There's no door here tolike the toilet area. There's no pooping privacy. No, there's not.So, if you want touse this bathroomyou actually have toclose the bedroom door, but the problem is Joobiecan open the bedroom doorso she'll just come inand then leave and justleave you stranded. You know, this bathroom is nice. It's nice enoughthat we've nevermustered up the gumptionto tear it out and redo it.But we did fix itup a little bit.Like I put an oddlylong amount of timecleaning up thecaulk in the showerand scraping out all the oldcaulk and redoing new caulk.Hours just scraping awayand watching YouTube videoslike why isn't this workinglike it does in the videos.Guys, she started witha normal screwdriver.Just gonna scrape offas much as you canand you get to pull offitty bitty little bitS.that was actuallya pretty big one.And by the end ofthe scraping, it was-It's rounded.Flat-head screwdriverwhich is no longerreally a flat-head.(Evan laughing)We still have it.Another thing thattook a long time, but I actually think thismade a huge differencewas I painted the grout linesbecause they usedto be light coloredand you could see allof the size differenceand gap variation. And I think thatthat was worth it.Yeah.(romantic music)We have one of my favoritethings, the bath caddy. There's memories here. This is where I tookmy first on-camera(Evan laughing)bath. That was weird. It's not the only. There's multiple.Yeah.(romantic music)But you know, I mean,it's crazy thinking back onthe journey of this house.I mean, we bought itbefore we were married.I mean, we were very sure.(Evan chuckling)Yeah, you know aninteresting thingabout ending in thebathroom specifically,is I remember when we bought it,it didn't feel like our house. For a while, we stillhad the apartmentfor a month or so overlap. The thing that madethis feel like our placewas showering in that shower.Overlay B-roll here.(both laughing)This is a very sentimentaland will always be avery special house to us.Who knows if we would havethought to start a DIY channelif we hadn't alreadystarted documentingall of the DIY things we weredoing in this house, you know? It's crazy.I mean, it's been so much funtaking this tripdown memory lane, and I'm glad that youguys were able to join us.I'm also really, really excitedto start the next chapter.I mean, we've been lookingat houses and we've-Imaging ourselves inall these new spacesand it's overwhelmingand very excitingand a little bit sad,but mostly exciting.Mostly exciting. And if you want tofollow along with us,as we go through the process ofgetting this houseready for sale, finding our next house, moving to our next houseseeing how Joobie handlesthe whole situation, you can follow us@EvanAndKatelyn on Twitter,Instagram, or Facebook. We also have beentalking about thisin a more long formin-depth way on our podcastwhich is Evan and KatelynPodcast on YouTubeand all of the podcast apps. And we look forward toseeing you in the next video.Bye.Wow, we did it.We did it.(both laughing)(boop)It's time for the house tour.Don't need that anymore.(Katelyn gasping)Oh my God!Come on, come on.(Evan laughing)Are you ready?I thought you weregoing to hit the camera.(Evan laughing)\n"
