A Catch-up with Matt Gamboa and Korean Barbecue

My friend Matt Gamboa recently reached out to catch up, and I met him at a Korean barbecue restaurant in Bellevue. As we sat down to eat, I couldn't help but wonder if we were going to be eating actual Koreans or just experiencing their style of barbecue. Of course, that was just a joke - we weren't actually going to eat any Koreans! We dug into the Mongolian hot pot soup, which was spicy and flavorful. Matt even stuck his hand in the pot to test its heat, and I have to admit, it was a bit too spicy for my taste.

Despite the spiciness of the soup, we had a great time chatting with each other and getting to know Matt's wife, Tanya. It was nice to take a break from work and just hang out with friends. Matt is actually involved in some local Seattle startups, and I'm always interested in hearing about his experiences in that world.

After lunch, we headed back to my place to catch up on some other topics. My mailbox had decided to close early that day without warning me, so I stopped by the store to pick up a free DVD redeem code that I'd been sent. To my surprise, it was for "The Dark Knight Rises," a movie that I hadn't seen in theaters. I've always meant to catch it on DVD, so I was thrilled to get it for free.

As we watched the DVD, Matt couldn't help but tease me about not having seen the movie in theaters. However, he was right - there were parts of the movie that I didn't understand because of Bane's accent and dialogue. But overall, I'm glad I got to see it now.

The rest of our afternoon was spent chatting with each other and responding to comments from our postcard section. We have a community of viewers who send us photos and messages, and we love seeing what they're up to. From Brandon Flores' Clone Wars fan art to Ahmad's wacky snapshot of me and you in the reflection, it's always great to hear from our fans.

We also had a few surprise visitors - my cat, Pixie, decided to take over the camera during one of the postcard segments, and I ended up with a funny face in the reflection. And then there was Thomas from Sweden, who sent us a photo of Marilyn Manson's gingerbread - which, unfortunately, is hydrogenated and not good for our furry friends.

Finally, we reminded everyone that we're giving away an iPad Mini on New Year's Eve (or January 1st), courtesy of One Notes shares.com. To enter the giveaway, all you need to do is retweet the tweet about it - which I'll be posting soon. Stay tuned!
