Samsung has just launched its new Gear Sport watch, and I had the opportunity to get hands-on with it. In this article, I will take you through my comprehensive walk-through of the device, highlighting its features, design, and functionality.
The Gear Sport is designed for fitness enthusiasts, as evident from its name and sleek build. While it's not as slim and sleek as analog watches, it looks fitting for those who want a watch that can keep up with their active lifestyle. The watch comes in two colors: black and blue, which match the metal casing and band. One of the best features of the Gear Sport is its ease of band replacement. Users can easily swap out the bands with any 20mm bands available from Samsung or other manufacturers.
As a fitness device, the Gear Sport boasts an array of sensors that track various physiological metrics. It includes a heart rate sensor that continuously measures heart rate, accelerometer, gyro, barometer, and ambient light sensor. Moreover, it's rated for use in water up to 50 meters, making it perfect for swimmers. One notable benefit over its predecessor, the Gear S3, is the new Tizen OS that powers the watch. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this latest version of Tizen has me not missing Android Wear at all.
To set up and use the watch, users need to download and install the Galaxy Gear app from the Play or App store. The watch also works with iOS devices, although it lacks some features like replying to iMessages. Once installed, users can turn on Bluetooth and connect the watch to their phone or other Android device. A few additional Samsung apps will be downloaded automatically, granting access to notifications from the user's phone.
The interface of the Gear Sport is simple yet functional. The home screen consists of the watch face, which serves as the primary display. To the right of the watch face are widgets that showcase various fitness-related data such as calories burned, steps taken, floors climbed, heart rate, and more. Users can tap these widgets to access more information about each metric. On the left side of the screen are notifications, which users can swipe through or navigate by turning the mechanical dial around the face.
One of the unique features of the Gear Sport is its partnership with Under Armour. This collaboration brings a range of exclusive apps that cater specifically to fitness enthusiasts. Users get free access to premium services from Under Armour's UA Record, Map My Run, Endomondo, and My Fitness Pal for 12 months. Each of these apps offers watch-specific features to track calories burned, runs, and other exercises.
Another notable feature is Samsung's partnership with Speedo on the Speedo On app. This app provides detailed tracking of swimming activities, making it an excellent tool for serious swimmers.
In conclusion, this walk-through has covered most of the features and functionality of the Gear Sport watch. If you're interested in learning more about this device or have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments below.

Android Wear watches,I have to say that thisnewest version of Tizenhas me not really missing Android Wear,so that was at least a welcome surprise. To use the watch, you need to download andinstall the Galaxy Gear appfrom the Play or App store.Yes, the watch works with iOS as well, sans being able to reply to iMessagesand a few other things that Applejust won't let third parties touch ever.Once installed, you can turn on Bluetoothand connect to the watch,or Android, it'll make you downloada few other helper Samsung apps, allow notification accessso it can show yournotifications from your phone,et cetera. After that, the interface iscomprised of your watch faceas your home screen, we'll call it.Then you have widgets to the right of thatand notifications to the left. You can swipe through these,or you can navigate themby turning the oddlysatisfying mechanical dialaround the face of the watch. The widgets on the watch showthings like calories burned, steps, floors, heart rate,a shortcut few additionsthat the watch Sport has.Firstly, and somethingI've been waiting foron a watch for a long time,Spotify and Samsung worked togetherto make this the first ever smart watchthat can download
