The Car Show Where Tickets Cost £170: A Glimpse Behind the Closed Doors of Salon Prive

This is the car show where tickets cost 170 pounds but you won't have to pay that because we can now show you what goes on behind their closed doors amongst the exclusive guest lists and the bottles of bubbly are 100 million pounds worth of the most exotic cars the world has ever seen including the 240 mile an hour mclaren f1 belonging to one rowan atkinson.

Welcome to Salon Prive, the country's most high-profile concourse car competition held annually at the Hurlingham Private Members Club in London. Each year, a team of specialist judges decide which cars are spectacular enough to win a prize. For today's judging, I have the privilege of assessing two categories: Jaguars and Alfa Romeos. Helping me is the designer of some of the world's most beautiful cars, Ian Callum, and respected car collector Bill Collins.

I must say it's lovely because we're asking the owners to open up the bonnets, turn the engines on, and have a good rummage around the boots, looking for original toolboxes and some of the original owner's manuals as well. That gets points from me always, with an eye for the expensive one thing that took my fancy was a curvy creature worth at least two million pounds. I have just fallen in love this is a Jaguar D-Type and it is the first prototype that Jaguar ever made.

This thing used to do 192 miles an hour unbelievable, and of course, the D-Type went on to win them all in 1955, 56, and 57. I absolutely love it and we have given it top scores in some categories. We weren't always so generous however, for such an immaculate looking car, it's details like that that really matter even though this car was once owned by Sterling Moss.

After lunch, I moved on to the Alfa Romeos and found a complete one-off now this is the Alfa Romeo 6C Spider and it was built in 1935. It was designed by an architect which is why I think it looks so radical compared to other cars of its time and if you come around here oh it's just sensational. It was built as a secret project, it was a money note object and the design of it looks like it's got an essential driving position which 60 years later is exactly what the McLaren F1 had way ahead of its time.

We're now off to look at the last Alfa Romeo, it's a monster, 1932 Blue and just going by the picture oh look at that old school supercar. Look at this proper proper. The beauty in this car is its overall shape, authenticity, yeah yeah just the way it sits, it's a beautiful car. We absolutely love its proportions its design and the fact that it is truly original I love it, I want to drive it, I want to race it.

We collated our scores and got ready to announce the winner, drum roll please! It was with great pleasure we made the first ever D-Type our Jaguar winner and the grubbiest car here that 1932 Monza the Alfa Romeo winner which just goes to show the cars that stir the soul aren't always the most pampered and polished.
