iOS 18 Public Beta Hands-On _ Best New Features You NEED to Try!

The Photos App in iOS 18: A New Era of Organization and Discovery

The photos app in iOS 18 has undergone a significant redesign, offering users a plethora of new views and features to enhance their photo organization and discovery experience. Upon opening the app for the first time, users are greeted with the home view, which displays all their photos in a single list. However, if they swipe down, this view transforms into a more comprehensive "All Photos" look, allowing them to browse through their entire library. Additionally, at the bottom of this view, users can access different categories such as months and years, as well as options for sorting by recently added or date captured.

One of the standout features of the new photos app is its filter option, which allows users to quickly find specific types of photos, such as screenshots, videos, edited photos, or favorites. This feature is particularly useful for users who want to categorize their photos in a specific way. Furthermore, users can also access different categories on this home screen, including "Recent Days," "Peoples," and "Pets." These categories provide an easy way for users to browse through their photos by type.

However, one of the most exciting features of the new photos app is its carousel view, which appears when users swipe left to right. This carousel view showcases featured photos, memories, library, favorites, and videos, offering users a visual representation of their most important content. The best part? Users can customize this view by adding or removing sections as they see fit.

For those who want to take their photo organization to the next level, iOS 18 also offers a range of new features in the messages app. One of the most notable features is the introduction of text effects and formatting options, which allows users to add bold, italic, underline, and strikethrough text to their messages. These text effects are not only visually appealing but also allow for more creative expression.

In addition to text effects, iOS 18 also introduces a new range of sticker options that can be added to tapbacks. Previously, users were limited to heart and thumbs up/thumbs down; now, they can choose from a variety of stickers and emojis to express themselves in their messages. Furthermore, the tapback feature has been expanded to allow for more creative expression, with users able to add any sticker or emoji they like.

Finally, iOS 18 also introduces a new "Send Later" option that allows users to send messages up to two weeks early. This feature is perfect for those who want to remind friends and family of upcoming events or appointments without having to think about it too much. The Send Later feature can be accessed by tapping the "+" icon in the top left corner of the keyboard and selecting "Send Later" from the options.

The final feature worth mentioning is the introduction of RCS (Rich Communication Services) support, which allows users to send videos and photos with full-quality resolution to Android devices. This means that messages sent between iOS and Android users will no longer appear pixelated or blurry, but rather in their full glory. Additionally, group messages are now fixed, allowing users to see typing indicators from other parties involved.

Another exciting feature is the revamped Passwords section of the Settings app, which has been moved into its own standalone app. The new Passwords app offers a clean and minimal interface that makes it easy for users to manage their passwords and passkeys. Users can generate or search for existing passwords, as well as add shared groups and new passwords. This is a significant improvement over the previous setup, which could become cumbersome.

Overall, the Photos app in iOS 18 is a game-changer, offering users a range of features and options that make it easier to organize, discover, and share their photos. With its new carousel view, text effects, sticker options, Send Later feature, RCS support, and revamped Passwords app, this operating system is set to revolutionize the way we interact with our photos.

As an added bonus, iOS 18 also introduces a range of other features that enhance the overall messaging experience. For example, users can now customize their tapbacks by adding stickers or emojis, which makes it easier for them to express themselves in their messages. Furthermore, the Send Later feature allows users to send messages up to two weeks early, making it perfect for those who want to remind friends and family of upcoming events.

In addition, the RCS support means that messages sent between iOS and Android devices will no longer appear pixelated or blurry. This is a significant improvement over previous setups, which could lead to a poor user experience. With this feature, users can now enjoy full-quality resolution for their messages, making it easier for them to communicate with friends and family who use different operating systems.

Finally, the revamped Passwords app offers a clean and minimal interface that makes it easy for users to manage their passwords and passkeys. Users can generate or search for existing passwords, as well as add shared groups and new passwords. This is a significant improvement over the previous setup, which could become cumbersome.

By introducing these features, Apple has taken the photos app to a whole new level, making it easier for users to organize, discover, and share their photos. With its range of new features and options, iOS 18 sets itself apart from previous operating systems, providing a more enjoyable and intuitive experience for users.
