T95Z S912 Android 6.0 Tv Box Unboxing And Benchmarks 8 Core Cpu

**Testing the Performance of the AMLogic S912 Box**

The author of this article decided to test the performance of their AMLogic S912 box before diving into emulation, native Android apps, and video playback. To begin, they ran a series of benchmarks on the device to gauge its capabilities.

The tests were run, and the results showed that the device scored 37,560 on one benchmark, with the temperature reaching approximately 76°C during the graphics test, which may indicate throttling at high temperatures. The author noted that this score is not stellar, but rather in line with what they expected from a cheap Chinese Android box.

The benchmarks were further compared to those of other devices, including an iPhone 7 Plus, which scored significantly higher. The author was disappointed by the performance of their device and wondered if it would be able to handle more demanding tasks.

**Running Additional Tests**

To get a better understanding of the device's capabilities, the author decided to run some additional tests. They ran a 3D Mark test using ES 3.0 on a 1080p resolution, followed by the same test with the Open GL 3.1 mode enabled on a higher resolution. Unfortunately, the results showed that the device struggled to keep up with more demanding tasks.

The author then ran a test using Ice Storm Extreme, which was set to run on an Open GL 2.0 AT 720p resolution. The results showed that the device spent most of its time at around 85°C, indicating that it may be experiencing thermal throttling or simply letting the temperature increase without intervention.

**Implications for Emulation and Video Playback**

Considering the performance of the AMLogic S912 box, the author is cautiously optimistic about its ability to handle emulation. They believe that they will be able to run a wide range of emulators, from the Amiga on up to the PlayStation one. However, they are less confident about running more demanding games like the Nintendo 64 or Dreamcast.

In terms of video playback, the author expects the device to perform reasonably well at 1080p resolution. They plan to test this out by making a ton of videos on the device and observing its performance. With the Mali 820 MP3 GPU, they are hoping that this will be an improvement over their previous experience with the Amlogic S905 chip.

**Conclusion**

The author concludes that while the AMLogic S912 box is not particularly impressive in terms of raw performance, it still has potential for emulation and video playback. They plan to continue testing the device's capabilities and experimenting with different emulators and games to see how well it performs. With further testing and tweaking, they hope to unlock the full potential of their device.

**The Importance of Temperature Monitoring**

Throughout this article, the author stresses the importance of temperature monitoring when testing devices like the AMLogic S912 box. They note that the device tends to heat up significantly during demanding tasks, which may indicate thermal throttling or simply a lack of cooling. The author plans to experiment with mods and tweaks to improve the device's cooling system and prevent overheating.

**A Note on Comparison**

The author also notes that their experience with this device is not particularly surprising. Given its low price point, they expected it to perform reasonably well but not exceptionally so. They plan to compare their results against other devices in the future to gauge how well the AMLogic S912 box holds up.

Overall, the article concludes on a note of caution and experimentation. The author encourages readers to try out the AMLogic S912 box for themselves and report back on their experiences.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey what's going on guys this ETA Prime back here again today I'm here with another Android TV box this is the sunel t95z plus this is an 8 core CPU Android box it runs an amlogic s912 now on the box or in the specs it says they're clocked at 2 GHz but as a lot of you may already know am logic is kind of tricked us and these CPUs are actually only clocked at 1.56 GHz this is a core CPU but four of the cores are clocked at 1.56 and the other four cores are clocked at 1 GHz so it used the big little core cycle on them 2 GB of DDR3 RAM 16 GB of internal storage HDMI 2.0 it does support HDR and 4K playback Wi-Fi 802.11 BGN it will pick up my 5G Network gigabit Ethernet optical audio two USB ports an SD card slot I want to get this thing on of the Box get it booted up and I want to run some benchmarks on it we're going to take a look at it really quick see how the Box itself looks and what comes with it so here's the Android box itself plainly wrapped and it's a crazy looking octagon and it does have an LED that runs around it that can turn blue green and gray blue I actually like the way this looks I'm not a big fan of weirdly shaped electronics and PC cases with lights all over them but I do like the way this looks not too crazy looking so on the front here we do have a display that will display the time if we're on Wi-Fi Ethernet or if we have USB plugged in pretty cool little feature over on this side we have one USB 2.0 Port SD card slot HDMI 2.0 Port audio video out power input optical audio ethernet and another USB 2.0 Port let's see what else came with this unit so when I ordered mine I accidentally ordered the European plug make sure you get the correct plug for your country I have a converter so I'm not really worried about it I also have plenty of these plugs with the barrel Jacks this is a 5vt 2 amp power supply so it shouldn't be a problem for me to find another one basic HDMI cord and here's the remote itself so the remote here has a Codi button an LED button to change the color of the LED on the unit itself power all of the inputs we need it actually looks pretty cool it's still a cheap Chinese remote it's really not that bad though and finally get our user manual and we're not going to need this so I want to turn this thing on and see how it looks in order for time to show up I may need to connect it to my Wi-Fi I'll be right back so you can see the lights on the box and the front panel display so right now it's just cycling through the different colors of the LED I'm going to turn my light off here so you can see it a little better it doesn't glow too much it's really not an annoying glow of the LED on my camera it's looking a little green here but this is the blue LED it should switch over to like the green LED and then the gray blue also it does have a button on the remote to switch it and I'm going to do that now so I'm going to press the button here we went to Green a darker blue and I know it doesn't show up good on my camera and we have it off which is a cool function to be able to turn this led off if it's annoying to you you can just have it off turn it back on that's a lighter blue a green and then a dark blue I actually like this front panel here if I zoom in a little bit I'm not sure if you'll be able to see this or not but it does show Wi-Fi the time and if I plug a USB stick into it so I just plug the USB in and it shows USB right there pretty cool little feature so what I'm going to do is get this thing set up I'm going to install some Benchmark applications we're going to run some initial benchmarks and just see how it performs Straight Out of the Box in some next videos we're going to test emulation video playback native Android apps all kinds of good stuff let's move over there now so I wanted to show you guys this boot animation I actually kind of like this so here's the main menu here looks pretty nice I mean it's very basic it's like all these Android boxes I am using a mouse and you may notice at the very top we have our CPU temperature this is an app that I installed and I wanted to keep an eye on the temperatures of the CPU while we run these benchmarks some of these boxes underclock the CPU when they reach a certain temperature and I'll be able to see what temperature that is and if we could keep it any cooler we may be able to get a little extra performance by adding a fan or another heat sink now I'm not sure if this box is going to throttle or not but this will allow me to check it first thing we'll do is go to settings we do have Android TV settings also but I'm going into the Android settings about media box and I did run a system update there is a dedicated update app and I updated this already Android 6.0.1 not bad and we'll make sure this is correct because some people try to trick us with these and yes we are running Android marshmallow next up I want to go to Ida 64 and check this box out it's the t95 z+ CPU 8 core cortex a53 6 4bit arm processor now this is the amlogic s912 if you see it is showing that we're clocking up to 2 GHz but amlogic has tricked the kernel into showing us that this is clocked at 2 GHz it's really running at 1.56 GHz if this thing was at two these little boxes would be really awesome so we have the top four cores here that are supposedly supposed to run at 2 GHz they're really 1.56 and the other four cores are the small cores and they run at 1,000 mahz which is 1 GHz display I'm running at 1920 x 1080p 60 FPS GPU Mali t820 MP3 and we can tell that by the GPU cores we have three GPU cores on this t820 it does do open GL 3.2 which is a plus for these little Android boxes a lot of the older s 905s only did open GL 3.0 so let's get into some benchmarks here we're going to run and 2 two I just want to check performance on this box before we get into emulation native Android apps and video playback we'll run the test now and I'll fast forward this all right guys so we scored a 37,56017 notic the temperature when we're in the graphics test Peg out at about 76° C that's 168 Dees fah we may be throttling at that point so in the future I'm going to try to mod this box out get it a little cooler but for now the performance is not Stellar these are benchmarks this is not real world performance but this will tell us a little bit about the box to really get into this I'm going to have to do a lot of tests but look looking at it now I'm not impressed 37560 this is about the same score as the amlogic s905 I think I've actually gotten a better score than this with the 905 not by much I think I got 38,1 something either way not too great if you want to pause this now I'm going to go through here so let's see where we are iPhone 7 plus is a monster at 172,0 44 we'll find our box way down the list we're at the bottom of the list here the 5S actually scores better than this box itself wow I was really hoping for some better benchmarks than this next up we're going to run a 3D Mart I'm going to run two tests in here we're going to run slingshot using ES 3.0 this is at 1080p if we run the slingshot open GL 3.1 it'll be at 1440p I really want to see what it does at 108 0 we're going to run the slingshot then I will run the ice storm unlimited 555 that's a very low score the CPU did hit 83° C during the physics test it's really hard to tell if it's thermal throttling or not the Droid Turbo 2 scored an 1123 that has the Snapdragon 810 more expensive Ive chip so we're right around the LG V10 LG G4 where's my device at is it even listed here 555 is what we scored I guess it doesn't show up here right above the HTC 1x9 so really I mean it's it is a bad score for these little boxes but it's not incredibly horrible as you see the LG G4 scored a 513 V10 5133 they run a Snapdragon 808 CPU a little disappointed though with the scores let's check out ice storm extreme now this runs open GL 2.0 AT 720p 9,396 I saw this CPU at one time hit 89° C that's 192° f it spent most of its time at about 85 degrees Celsius really really hot for these little tiny chips like I said before and the score is not impressive yeah I mean just looking at these scores that we just put out here I'm really hoping that it performs better in real world performance and you know mainly I do a lot of emulation and that's one of the main things now I'm pretty positive that this thing is going to be able to handle anything from the Amiga on up to the PlayStation one I'm not sure about say uh Nintendo 64 or Dreamcast but we're definitely going to give it a try and we're just running here it's at 79° celus so I don't know if it's thermal throttling or it just lets it go until this thing shuts off all right guys so I was going to run a few more benchmarks here but seeing how low 3D Mark and and22 Benchmark was these benchmarks aren't going to let us know what this thing can really do now like I was saying I'm pretty sure we're going to be able to do a lot of emulation on this box video playback at 1080p should be pretty smooth I will be making a ton of videos tomorrow on this unit now I was really hoping that this amlogic s912 with the Mali 820 MP3 GPU was going to give us some really good scores in n22 I mean really good scores by cheap Chinese Android box standards but we're pretty much on par with with the s905 I'll do a ton of videos on this I'll be testing Dreamcast PlayStation SNES um Nintendo 64 we'll do a lot of Android apps just to see where it sits with the t95 with the s905 video performance should be a lot better with the Mali 820 and I'm hoping that really helps out and shines through within the emulators I really appreciate you watching if you could hit that like button and subscribe and like always thanks for watchinghey what's going on guys this ETA Prime back here again today I'm here with another Android TV box this is the sunel t95z plus this is an 8 core CPU
