Samsung Galaxy S8 Unboxing & Overview (Indian Unit)

**Unboxing and First Look: Samsung Galaxy S8**

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is a new addition to the Galaxy series, and as its name suggests, it's an upgrade from the previous model. In this unboxing and first look review, we'll take a closer look at what this device has to offer.

**Device Specifications**

The Samsung Galaxy S8 features a 5.8-inch Quad HD Plus super AMOLED screen, which is protected by Gorilla Glass 5. It comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which can be expanded via the hybrid SIM slot. The rear-facing camera has a 12-megapixel sensor with an f/1.7 lens, while the front-facing camera has an 8-megapixel sensor also with an f/1.7 lens. Other features include Bluetooth 5, NFC, and Samsung Pay, as well as an iris scanner and fingerprint scanner.

**Display and Design**

The Galaxy S8 has a smaller screen compared to its predecessor, but it's still quite large at 5.8 inches. The device feels comfortable in the hand, with a slight curvature that makes it easy to hold and use. The display is crisp and vibrant, with good color accuracy and a high refresh rate. One notable feature of the Galaxy S8 is the placement of the fingerprint scanner, which is located on the back of the device. While this may not be ideal for everyone, it's certainly an option that Samsung has offered in other devices.

**Battery Life**

The Galaxy S8 comes with a 3,000mAh battery, which is smaller than its predecessor. However, this shouldn't be a major concern, as most modern smartphones can easily last a full day on a single charge. We'll need to put the device through some testing to see how it performs in real-world use.

**Software**

The Galaxy S8 runs Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, which is a bit disappointing given the current state of the Android ecosystem. However, Samsung has promised that the device will receive regular security updates and feature enhancements. The device also comes with some pre-installed apps, including Microsoft Office and Samsung Pay.

**Comparison to the S8+**

For those who may be familiar with the Galaxy S8+, there are some notable differences between the two devices. The S8+ has a slightly larger screen at 6.2 inches, as well as a higher-resolution display. It also comes with more storage options and a larger battery that lasts up to a day and a half on a single charge.

**Camera Performance**

The camera performance of the Galaxy S8 is quite good, thanks in part to its large sensor and advanced software features. The rear-facing camera can take excellent low-light photos, and the front-facing camera performs well for selfies and video calls. We'll need to put the device through some testing to see how it compares to other high-end cameras.

**Fingerprint Scanner and Face Unlock**

One of the standout features of the Galaxy S8 is its fingerprint scanner, which is fast and reliable. The scanner is located on the back of the device, and can be used to unlock the phone quickly and easily. The face unlock feature is also available, which uses facial recognition technology to authenticate users.

**Conclusion**

Overall, the Samsung Galaxy S8 is a solid device that offers many of the same features as its predecessor, but with some notable upgrades. While it may not have all the bells and whistles, it's still a great option for anyone looking for a high-quality smartphone. We'll be putting this device through some further testing to see how it performs in real-world use.

**Testing the Device**

We're currently testing the Galaxy S8 to see how it performs in various scenarios. From battery life to camera performance, we'll be putting the device through its paces to see what it can do. We'll also be comparing it to other high-end smartphones to see how it stacks up.

**Update**

We've just received an update for this article and would like to clarify a few points regarding the Android version on the device. The device comes with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, but Samsung has promised that it will receive regular security updates and feature enhancements.

Additionally, we've discovered that the device's storage capacity can be expanded via the hybrid SIM slot. Out of the box, the device comes with 64GB of internal storage, which is available to use immediately. We'll be testing out the device's performance with this amount of storage to see how it affects overall usage.

We'll also be adjusting the brightness and settings on the device to see how they affect its performance in different scenarios. One notable feature of the Galaxy S8 is its auto-brightness sensor, which can be toggled on or off at the user's preference.

We've also been testing out the device's camera performance and found that it takes excellent low-light photos thanks to its large sensor and advanced software features. The front-facing camera performs well for selfies and video calls as well.

Finally, we'll be comparing the Galaxy S8 to other high-end smartphones to see how it stacks up in terms of performance, battery life, and overall value.

**Final Thoughts**

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is a solid device that offers many of the same features as its predecessor, but with some notable upgrades. While it may not have all the bells and whistles, it's still a great option for anyone looking for a high-quality smartphone. With its advanced camera performance, fast fingerprint scanner, and long-lasting battery life, the Galaxy S8 is definitely worth considering.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi there this is ranit and I have the Samsung Galaxy S8 with me and uh this is the official Indian retail unit and we'll be doing the unboxing and I'll give you an overview in this uh video and uh this is the gold color variant quite a few of you have asked me to actually also test out the Galaxy S8 if you recall I have been uh using the Galaxy S8 plus and I'm very happy with the battery life of this one and quite a few of you have asked me to also test this one so we'll be opening this one right now and again on the back it gives us a brief idea about the device uh this is actually having a 5.8 in super amulet screen uh compared to the elder brother that's the 8 S8 plus that is having a 6.2 in screen and this has a 3,500 mAh battery and this has a 3,000 Milah battery and guys the one that is sold in India uh is having the uh exos uh processor that's the 8895 that's OCT code processor so let me just open up these seals cut these seeds and then we'll have a look at the handset and here it just says Samsung on this box so here is the device itself and uh this is actually pretty small compared to uh what do you say the uh S8 Plus in size and uh it's exactly similar in terms of specifications it's just the size difference and as you can see uh this is the size difference between them and uh this is the LG G6 this LG G6 is actually uh supposed to be having a 5.7 in screen this is supposed to have 5.8 and the S8 plus is supposed to have a 6.2 in screen so as you can see uh pretty compact though it's having a 5.8 in screen and from the back again this is the black color version and this is the gold uh even if you off for the gold one from the front you just have that black finish Frankly Speaking I would say in terms of color uh this black one looks a lot more elegant but the black one is sort of a fingerprint magnet I'll be using this one as my primary phone for the next few days and we'll let you know how is the fingerprint situation on this one so let's keep these things to the side for now and let's quickly look at what else do we get in this box so some paperwork will be there on this and the Sim ejector tool I'll keep that to the side and uh we also get a USB uh OTG adapter with this one and uh this is again a converter because this uh Galaxy S8 has a USB type-c uh Port so this is a converter for the same uh we also get a charger which is a standard uh fast charger that we get with the Samsung devices known as the Adaptive fast charging and uh I was actually thinking that the uh charger Etc will be in gold color but again it's black color and and here we get that USB cable USB type-c cable and uh the AKG earphones uh again uh Samsung was talking a lot about these earphones I have tested this one with the uh S8 plus it's the same that we get on that uh I would say the sound quality is just fine uh it's not anything uh very spectacular but again I won't complain because you're getting it in the uh box so let me keep these things to the side and let's look at the handset itself so here is the device itself and it's pretty compact in the hand though it's having a 5.8 in screen it easily fits in your single hand so single- Hand usage is easier with this one compared to the S8 plus uh on the top we have this is the Sim slot and it's a dual SIM device guys uh you can use two Nano Sims or one nano SIM and a Micro SD card uh we also have a secondary noise cancellation microphone over here uh here we have the power onoff button moving to the bottom we have the main speaker here a main microphone USB type-c port and 3.5 mm headphone jack and here we have the dedicated key for bxb and the volume rockers uh moving to the back we have the fingerprint scanner which is on the back but this one also has the iris scanner and the face recognition option uh 12 mapix rear facing camera heart rate sensor LED flash Samsung branding and uh it's written very uh in a tiny font but it says Made in India this one so nice to see see that and the front facing camera is supposed to be 8 megapixel shooter so let me actually try to boot this up I'm holding the power button give me hptech feedback and by the time I set this up let me actually give you a configuration overview the Samsung Galaxy S8 that is sold in India is parted by the exos 8895 octacore chipset it has a 5.8 in Quad HD Plus super amulet screen it has Gorilla Glass 5 production it comes with 4 GB of RAM 64 GB of internal storage with hybrid Sim slot it has a 12 map rear facing camera with f1.7 lens and a 8 map front-facing camera with f1.7 lens it also has Bluetooth 5 NFC and Samsung pay uh it also has the iris scanner fingerprint scanner and moving to the battery it has a 3,000 mAh battery and it's sold in India via flip card for 57,98811 but the Bigby functionality is not fully biged in as of now and we get this wallpaper because we have the what do you say this one and uh let's again it's the new touch wh they don't call it the touch wh they call it uh the Samsung Experience uh uh uh instead of touch wh let me just uh change the uh wallpaper and it's the Infinity uh theme I'll just set this one like this this one so I'm going to set this so let's look at what else do we get and as you can see it's downloading some of the stuff but uh before we do that let's uh actually uh look at the uh other options I'll adjust the brightness it seems to be a little bit bright and as you can see it has the auto brightness sensor you can toggle it on or off so I'll just set this and let's go back and uh regarding the Android version it'll be on the Android version uh 7 that's uh no good as you can see just like the S8 uh plus and uh it's coming out of the box with the April 1st security update uh so that's nice and let's go back regarding the storage let's go to for that you have to go to device management and click on storage Tab and out of that 64 GB as you can see we get 52.3 GB of space that's available to us and before we move ahead let me actually again show you the difference between the S8 and the S8 plus uh it's the size difference guys uh this is having a 6.2 in screen this is having a 5.8 in screen uh so this one with the single hand it's very difficult to reach to the top and also the fingerprint scanner as it's on this uh location uh it's slightly on the difficult side that should not be the case with uh this uh one as you can see it fits easily in your hand and uh the thing that I need to test is the battery life because this has a 3,000 mAh battery whereas the S8 plus had 3,500 mAh battery and uh again uh it's the same thing and we have some uh apps that are pre-installed for example Microsoft Office is pre-installed and Samsung pay and regarding the home button uh if you just switch this off the screen uh the home button is embedded on uh this uh one so if you just press it it gives haptic feedback and let's unlock using the fingerprint scanner so let's test the fingerprint scanner and definitely I have to say the fingerprint scanner is a lot easier to use compared to the S8 plus with the S8 plus I always had to adjust my grip to reach to the fingerprint scanner with the regular S8 that's not the case as you can see you can easily reach that uh because there are other ways to unlock it like the iris scanner and even the face unlock uh but to be frank I use the iris scanner uh but the reliability on that is about just about 50 to 60% it's not as reliable as the fingerprint scanner so that's uh what it is and it also has Samsung pay and uh uh so let's quickly look at the camera it's a 12 megapix rear facing camera that we are getting and just press next zoom in and zoom out location tags I'll just cancel let me take some photographs so we have the tap to focus option and you can adjust the exposure or lower it like this on this one let's take a snap and as usual even like the Galaxy S7 the shutter speed is really fast you just tap in and you can take the pictur so here are some more sample uh shots that I took around my office so that you can have a brief idea regarding the camera performance of this galaxy S8 so guys that's it for now for this quick unboxing and first look at the Samsung Galaxy S8 uh I will definitely be testing out this device and let you guys know how is the battery life on this galaxy S8 so if you're not subscribed to my YouTube channel hit that subscribe button thanks for watching this is ranit and I hope to see you in my next videohi there this is ranit and I have the Samsung Galaxy S8
