iOS 9 on iPhone 4s Better performance

Introducing iOS 9 at WWDC and Surprising Device Support

At WWDC, Apple introduced iOS 9, which surprisingly supports all iPhones from iPhone 4s on up and also all iPads from iPad 2 on up. This is a remarkable feat, considering that iOS 8 required 4.5 gigabytes to update, while the update to iOS 9 only requires one point three gigabytes. The significant reduction in required storage space is a testament to Apple's efforts to make updates more accessible and efficient.

The Performance of iOS 9 on iPhone 4s

To test the performance of iOS 9 on an older device, I used an iPhone 4s with iOS 9 beta 1 installed. The update process was seamless, and the device performed admirably well. The update required only one point three gigabytes, which is a significant reduction from the 4.5 gigabytes required by iOS 8. This is a notable achievement by Apple, as it demonstrates their commitment to making updates more accessible to a wider range of devices.

Spotlight Search and Dictation

One of the features that I was excited to test on the iPhone 4s with iOS 9 beta 1 installed was Spotlight search. When you swipe down on the screen, Spotlight appears, allowing you to quickly access various functions and settings. To my surprise, the Spotlight feature on the iPhone 4s performed well, although it did not include some of the advanced features available on newer devices, such as the ability to type in a specific folder or search for files.

Siri and Dictation

Another feature that I wanted to test was Siri, Apple's virtual assistant. To my delight, Siri worked smoothly on the iPhone 4s with iOS 9 beta 1 installed. The device recognized voice commands accurately, and the responses were quick and informative. Additionally, dictation was available, allowing me to convert spoken words into written text seamlessly.

The New UI and Keyboard

One of the most notable features of iOS 9 is its new user interface, which includes a range of visual changes and refinements. On the iPhone 4s with iOS 9 beta 1 installed, these changes were visible in action, as I was able to navigate the device's various settings and applications with ease. Furthermore, the keyboard has been redesigned, featuring a more intuitive layout and improved performance.

Multitasking and Notes Application

On the iPhone 4s with iOS 9 beta 1 installed, I discovered that multitasking was available, allowing me to switch between multiple apps simultaneously. This feature is not available on all devices, but it's a welcome addition to iOS 9. Additionally, the notes application has been upgraded to include advanced features such as text formatting and organization.

Public Transit in Maps and Low Power Battery Saving Mode

While the iPhone 4s with iOS 9 beta 1 installed did not feature public transit in maps, it did offer other notable features, such as a low power battery saving mode. This feature allows users to extend their device's battery life by reducing performance and disabling certain functions.

Low Power Battery Saving Mode and Multitaskinger

The new multitasker on the iPhone 4s with iOS 9 beta 1 installed was another exciting feature that I wanted to test. The app switcher is a long-overdue addition to iOS, and it's great to see Apple finally implementing this feature on older devices as well. The low power battery saving mode also works smoothly, allowing users to conserve their device's battery life.

Airdrop Feature

Unfortunately, the iPhone 4s with iOS 9 beta 1 installed did not include the airdrop feature, which is another notable omission from the update. However, this was expected, given that the iPhone 4s does not have Bluetooth capabilities that are required for airdrop.

Battery Percentage and Battery Durability

As I mentioned earlier, Apple has increased the memory on older devices with iOS 9, allowing them to run more smoothly than before. Additionally, battery percentage is now displayed prominently in the status bar, giving users a better understanding of their device's power consumption. Furthermore, battery durability is not being tested as part of this article.

Future Review and Conclusion

In conclusion, my experience with iOS 9 on an iPhone 4s with beta 1 installed has been overwhelmingly positive. The update performed well, and the features available on newer devices were also available on older ones. While some features, such as public transit in maps, are not supported, others, like multitasking and low power battery saving mode, have been added to make life easier for users.

In the coming days, I will be releasing an in-depth review of iOS 9 once it's finalized and released. In this review, I'll provide more detailed information on the performance, features, and overall user experience of iOS 9 on the iPhone 4s.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: ensup guys iDevice help here today in this video I'm going to be sharing with you guys iOS 9 beta 1 on the iPhone 4s Apple introduced iOS 9 at WWDC and surprisingly it supports all iPhones from iPhone 4s on up and also all iPads from iPad 2 on up and it's actually performing very well now this is iOS and 9 and beta 1 so keep that in mind let's go ahead and give you guys a quick walk through and see the performance of the new operating system on the iPhone 4s now to install iOS 9 I first want to mention that it only takes one point three gigabytes to update to iOS 9 and iOS 8 it was required a 4.5 gigabytes yes 4.5 gigabytes the update to iOS 8 and iOS 9 it only requires one point three gigabytes that is an amazing job by Apple but not just that I'm very surprised that a lot of the features available for newer devices are also available for older devices as well of course some capabilities on the iPhone 4s are restricted that is due to the memory and power of the device itself like for example the spotlight when you swipe to the left in iOS 9 on the newer device you get a new spotlight search you don't have that on the iPhone 4s but you do have spotlight by swiping down on the screen as you can see there it reacted very fast and if I tap on the microphone for Siri here on dictation let me go ahead and see if I can tap on there as you can see there dictation works very nice very smoothly everything is running very well now remember like I mentioned this is iOS 9 beta 1 also engaging Siri works very nice and the new UI is also available on the iPhone 4s as you can see there is a new Siri is now available as well on the iPhone 4s so I'm very impressed with the performance of the iPhone 4s on this iOS 9 beta 1 as you can see there it's picking up on the dictation of what I'm speaking it's speaking up rather quickly as you can see there so very great performance I'm very impressed with the results with iOS 9 so far so surprisingly enough you also get the double finger gesture to use the keyboard as a trackpad on the iPhone for us as you can see there I can move around the cursor by going ahead and tap with two fingers on the keyboard so that feature is also available on the iPhone 4s another thing to note is that the notes application also brings all the features that are available on a newer devices as well as you can see there the notes application is fully featured just like the newer devices on iOS 9 now another thing that you don't get with the iPhone 4s is the public transit in maps but what you do get is the new multitasker it's also available here on this iPhone 4s for iOS 9 so it's very cool and actually runs very smooth as you can see there no lagging whatsoever and again keep in mind like it keeps saying this is iOS and 9 and beta ones in this Settings app you also get the search bar here at the top like you do with newer devices as well and a very cool feature that was just introduced is the low power battery saving mode it's also available on the iPhone 4s so that was not left out of this version for this device so very cool there to have that feature on the iPhone 4s as well another thing you don't get with iOS 9 is the airdrop feature but you didn't get that with iOS 8 either but you did get the new emojis here on the keyboard as you can see there as I'm browsing through the device it runs very smoothly I can go ahead and jump over to the multitasker and go ahead and jump into the Settings app and as you can see there everything is running smoothly on the device so overall the performance of the device in iOS 9 so far looks to be a good one Apple has increased the memory the performance you also get all the applications and most of the features that newer devices also get now battery percentage or battery durability I'm not really going to be testing on to the final version is released but the device right now it's looking good for older devices again iPhone 4s iPhone 5 iPad 2 iPad 3 and for those devices are going to get a solid update with iOS 9 so hopefully this video will help you determine if you want to update to iOS 9 again I will have a future in depth review of iOS 9 on the iPhone 4s once it's finalized and released make sure you follow me here on youtube and also on facebook and twitter if you have any questions you can leave a
