The Unparalleled Experience of Driving a Formula 1 Car

This is like nothing else you'll ever drive in your life, nothing and anything else is just like a Reliant Robin. The real reason I'm at Silon today is I've got to train celebrity chef James Martin how to drive a Formula 1 car and I've only got half a day. That was a nice move off there, definitely beautiful Dames, how are you feeling? Are you nervous at all? Uh, slightly when you hear it fire up, but um, I'm more looking forward to it than anything, you know what I mean, it's a dream is it, proper proper proper car. We're just warming up the engine and gearbox making sure everything's okay to run, we're just revving it a lot so that we can circulate the oil and water in the gearbox and engine to make sure it warms up evenly.

My passion is cars, are absolutely obsessed with 350 GT shell Mustang 59 Corvette looking left or right here, 64 Mr L 340. Ah, I keep all the cars all over the place really garages and some of them in a museum and bits and Bobs but uh um yeah it looks as if I might have to build a little extension on one of the garage blocks for um a certain family one car. The ultimate has going to be, if you're not used to being in single c p so you only your left foot is your clutch yes go away yeah that's it, it's quite easy to drive, this wrong expression but it's it's quite friendly can't wait, it's a shame we haven't got a glass helmet F there so we can see your face first you'll be hearing me don't worry first time you open the tap yeah yeah first time you open the tap you'll get shot right I did God now before we let him that he's got to prove himself in a former Silverstone got job on her ANS.

Amazing thing about learning with somebody like Jason is you just follow somebody like that and picking out the lines that you actually think, yeah that's the reason why he's gone that way cuz it's quicker out of the exit this end straight generally you breaking a lot earlier than what you need to and I was getting too much speed going into the corner. You actually break really quite hard and you go slower around the corner so you've got a better exit out of the corner, too much speed and uh and so your Apex is a little bit too early so you turn a little later and almost make the first part of the corner tighter and the second part of the corner less tight certainly following him on those lines really did help that's cor I reckon if we set 40 is his time yeah I think that would be about right, it is a hell of a job to start digging into the performance of that car especially on little tit the BET was originally the one that he made up was the fact that if I didn't go around quicker than 40 seconds then uh I would have to cook him dinner.

I'm going to set you the challenge and the challenge is this if you don't bust 40 seconds you have to cook me my mate's food and we have a look in your wine seller and choose one nice bottle. I actually threw it back at him I said well if I do come under 40 seconds then you buy me dinner at a restaurant of my choice that came straight back at me just me our be more, I quite like I quite like going out for a nice bike to I I've got a really good restaurant my actually yeah it's quite to get a table but we'll get a table okay it's like they say the difference between men and boys is the price of their toys this is certainly a man's toy isn't it D this is brilliant, what unbelievable experience come go go incredible this day has been like a dream come true you know it's just it's every boy's dream is it to um you push these cars around the carpet never thought one day I'll be sat driving around Silverstone in Jal LA's forly one car. The sensory overload that you get as you're just even just cornering but every single bit your your entire brain is concentrating on what's in front of you having driven that you realize what total respect you've got to have for these Formula 1 car drivers cuz they're just just in the League of Their Own never ever experienced anything like that man I want one now proper things are yeah it's magic absolutely magic day.
