**Welcome to Field Prep!**

What up everybody? Welcome to this week's episode of Field Prep. This week is gonna be kind of one for the mind.

**Fuel Cell Installation**

We're gonna be working with our ECU, fuel filler neck—getting the fuel to the fuel cell and work on the front window, get the window brace in since we got the window installed last week. Alright we got the fuel cell tucked up in there. I'm gonna mark out where we're gonna cut out top up here so we can get our fuel to feed, then start building our crosstube.

**Pipe Installation**

I got the top plate marked, know where the fuel cell filler hole is gonna be. I'm going to go ahead and cut this, put the fuel cell back in, and see what we got. Hopefully figure out where the next hole needs to go. So you can kind of see the top of the fuel cell now and get a general idea of what we're gonna be doing.

**Troubleshooting**

We trimmed down the cast 90, wetrimmed down the 45. We're gonna see if it fits and then that basically gets us to here once we tack it together then we can start building the other side.

**ECU Bracket Installation**

Ty threw the quarter panel on and he's starting to bring the aluminum piping up into the quarter panel. Got a couple of 45s in there that we got to work together, you can see this is where it's gonna come out because the hgk carbon Kevlar panels have the stock fuel filler set up in there.

**Window Installation**

We began working on the other side of the fuel filler. I'm gonna work on the front window, I got some window braces from like some round around stock car stuff so I'm gonna start fitting this up before the front window making a bolt in piece and it's sick because it's just lightweight aluminum already has some foamy on there.

**ECU Bracket Construction**

I'll have to make a small extension here that I'm going to then mount the bracket to and then this will get mounted to the chassis here and here. So many people ask me why I don't use a nutsert tool, and it's as simple as this: Because I don't like them.

**Window Brace Installation**

I have the window brace which fits in here. This is a piece that I just made that I riv nutted to the chassis. We've been figuring if we're gonna weld it or rivnut it or whatever but what I think that I'm gonna do is drill it all the way through the window through the piece that I bought through the piece that I made.

**ECU Bracket Completion**

I'll get it powder-coated black, is good. Today I'll be working on mounting the ECU so the plan is to build a bracket going to these brackets here build a wire frame from the trans tunnel underneath to hold this a little bit elevated to protect it against heat from the trans tunnel and make sure it's accessible.

**Conclusion**

WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enWhat up guys?I'm Matt Field, professional Formula Drift driver.Except that,..was my 2017 car. This year we're building a 2013Chevrolet Corvette.Welcome to Field Prep! What up everybody? Welcome to this week's episode of Field Prep. This week is gonna be kind of one for the mind. We're gonna be working with our ECU,a fuel filler neck--getting the fuel to the fuel celland work on the front window, get the window brace in since we got the windowinstalled last weekAlright we got the fuel cell tucked up in there.I'm gonna mark out where we're gonna cut outtop up here so we can get our fuel to feed, then start building our crosstube.I got the top plate marked, know where the fuel cell filler hole is gonna be.I'm going to go ahead and cut this, put the fuel cell back in, and see what we gotHopefully figure out where the next hole needs to goSo you can kind of see the top of thefuel cell now and get a general idea ofwhat we're gonna be doing. Got somesilicone couplers and aluminum pipe fromCX racing. We're gonna try to get thisthrough here inside of here where thestock actual fill runs, and get it outto the other side.Hopefully it fitsAight, let's put it on!Lil' fighter, that sumb*tch!Well alllllright. So we trimmed down the cast 90, wetrimmed down the 45.We're gonna see if it fitsand then that basically gets us to hereonce we tack it together then we canstart building the other sideWe began working on the other side ofthe fuel filler so Ty threw thequarter panel on and he's starting tobring the aluminum piping up into thequarter panel. Got a couple of 45s inthere that we got to work together youcan see this is where it's gonna comeout because the hgk carbon Kevlar panelshave the stock fuel filler set up inthere this is where the two pieces aregonna come together got two 45s up inthere got to make a little pie cut forthat then you can see that's where it'sgoing to come across and connect to ourother side in there and while he's doingthat I'm gonna work on the front windowI got some window braces from like someround around stock car stuff so I'mgonna start fitting this up before thefront window making a bolt in piece andit's sick because it's just lightweightaluminum already has some foamy onthere should be pretty straightforwardto be formula trip legal if you have alexan or polycarbonate window, it has to have at least one brace in the window.Pretty common for all race series--to have that brace if you have that type of window. The braces that I got was for like a roundy-round car, so the window was much shorter.I'll have to make a small extension herethat I'm going to then mount the braceto and then this will get mounted to thechassis here and here so I got to goahead and put a rib nut here to mountthis bracket that I just madeSo many people ask me why I don't use a nutsert tool.and it's as simple as this:Because I don't like them. I like to feel the exact amount of tension that I'm putting onthe bolt. PERFECT! and those other toolsthe rivet thing, NAH! Dont like em.So this is what we got going on right hereI have the window brace which fits in herethis is a piece that I just made that Iriv nutted to the chassis. we've beenfiguring if we're gonna weld it or rivnut it or whatever but what i thinkthat i'm gonna do is drill it all theway through the window through the piecethat i bought through the piece that Imade a nut and bolt it right here sothat we can cinch it up to the windowand then it's going to be firm holditself against it and then I don't haveto grind all this powder coat off ofthis and then weld it and screw with thefoam and stuff it'll just be good to goand done so that's all figured out it'skind of figure out where this hole linesup and then drill the hole in the frontwe'll be good to goall right so I have to like line this upand then pretty much drill through thetop of the window nowso there it isit's in there it's flush against thewindow it's easy to take in and out thispiece I'll get it powder-coated black isgoodI've been stoked to do that piece forever since I saw him online I don't knowwhy I was like so pumped to do it yeahall right so today I'll be working onmounting the ECU so the plan is to builda bracket going to these brackets herebuild a wire frame from the trans tunnelunderneath to hold this a little bitelevated to protect it against heat fromthe trans tunnel and make sure it'saccessibleall right so I've got my first twopieces here welded in place tacked inand then I'm gonna add another diagonalfor strength and then I'll be able tokind of finish weld around the cornersand into the body and this side of thetrack it'll be nice and complete andsturdy and then I can pull the ECU offand finish the other side as wellnice and sturdy!I hope you guys enjoyed thisweek's episode check back in next weeklike comment share subscribe let us knowwhat you think
