The Kids' Choice Awards: A Crafty Transformation
Hello Crafters! I just found out that I was invited to the Kids' Choice Awards, and this year, I want to really shine on the carpet. To achieve this, I want to transform my dress into a unique look that's kind of crazy and cool, as I've been seeing on Instagram. I think we need to go shopping to make this happen.
My original idea was to use metallic paper that comes in a roll or sheets and hand-cut them. However, I think we're going to spend years doing that, so I'm looking for alternative materials that can achieve the same effect. The other option was to do it with a shredder, but I think we'll also take a while to get it done. I want to find those things used to decorate parties, like shiny curtains or metallic tassels. I've found them in this store, and there's a whole section of metallic paper here.
I'm excited about the materials I've found, especially since they're available in different colors. This can work for us, but I have one concern - it doesn't seem to have a lot of variety of colors. Honestly, I think this is the solution we need. The store staff told me that for wholesale, they have these packages of 25, which are 25! Can you believe it? I thought these were like 5! We need to take 3 of these in order to get a wholesale price.
Now, let's talk about the materials we've found. There are tablecloths that can work as metallic tassels, and the colors are very similar to the ones we're taking. Maybe a silver one can help us out. I'm starting to get worried because everything fits in this bag, and I thought it was a lot and it fit on this little bag.
It's time to go to the studio to see how we're going to transform these fringes into pasted decorations for our dress. Doesn't it look really pretty? We've started by placing the metallic tassels on the first trial, which only had tape on them. When you paste this on fabric, it peels off because the silicon gets stuck to the fabric and the tassel falls off. So, we decided to add paper on it.
We'll start by choosing the foil fringe we want to use, which has a lot of colors. We're going to grab one of those. You might notice that it's not that thick; only a few hairs are there, which helps us. We'll place the strip on the table and use red tassels as a guide for the length.
Now, we're going to paste all the strips carefully, making sure they're evenly spaced throughout the length of the foil fringe. After we've pasted them, we need to peel it off carefully and reinforce it with a drop of glue on the back part. We'll also paste the corners towards the inside and start cutting on top of the tape.
The next step is to staple a strip of paper of the same color, which will complete our metallic tassel. This is the final result we're aiming for - a unique look that's kind of crazy and cool. It's time to put everything together, but I'm a little dismayed with the lighting in this video because it's a bit gloomy.
The room where I'm staying is very weird; I'm sharing it with @raizarevelles99, who has agreed to help me with this project. We're going to do something really fun that I've never done before, and we're excited to share the process with you all. It's time to take out the dress from the luggage and plan what we're going to do next.
We have another recruit joining us, which is exciting! She's another team member who will help us finish this project. We're finally ready to start working on our dress, but we need to be quick because my flight leaves at 5, and I only have four hours to paste all of the dress if it's possible or most of it.
The lining is being held up here to avoid getting pasted to the bottom part, and down there is a bag. We're using this luggage to carry everything, but I'm getting a bit anxious because we need to finish this quickly.
