The Fall of Pharaoh: A New Era for Journalism?
As I opened up the latest issue of The Daily, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and curiosity about this new era in journalism. With its sleek design and user-friendly interface, this digital newspaper promises to bring the news to your fingertips like never before. As I scrolled through the pages, I was struck by the sheer amount of content available, from in-depth articles to 360-degree photos and videos.
One of the features that caught my eye was the ability to browse through the issues like a physical newspaper. By tapping on a bar at the top of the screen, I could access a thumbnail version of each page, complete with brief summaries and keywords. It's a clever way to allow readers to navigate the content without having to scroll through an entire issue. For example, I came across an article about Natalie Portman's pregnancy, which caught my eye as I love following celebrity news.
As I continued to browse through The Daily, I was impressed by the level of quality and attention to detail that went into each article. From editorials to news stories, everything seemed well-researched and presented in a clear and concise manner. One thing that struck me about this digital newspaper is the emphasis on immersive content, with 360-degree photos and videos that allowed me to experience the story in a more engaging way.
One of the things that I think sets The Daily apart from other online news sources is its focus on quality over quantity. Rather than churning out endless articles and headlines, this newspaper takes the time to really dig deep into each story and present it in a way that's both informative and engaging. Of course, as with any new platform, there are still some kinks to work out – for example, I noticed that some of the videos were embedded with commercials, which broke up the flow of the content.
Despite these minor quibbles, I'm thoroughly impressed with The Daily so far, and I'm excited to see how it will evolve over time. With its innovative approach to digital journalism and commitment to quality, this newspaper has the potential to be a game-changer in the industry. As someone who's been following tech news for years, I'm always on the lookout for new platforms that push the boundaries of what's possible, and The Daily is definitely one worth keeping an eye on.
For those who are interested in checking out The Daily for themselves, I'd recommend signing up for a free subscription to see what all the fuss is about. With its easy-to-use interface and engaging content, this digital newspaper is sure to delight both longtime readers and newcomers alike. And if you're already a fan of the Wall Street Journal or other online news sources, don't worry – The Daily's design is intuitive enough that you'll be able to find your way around with ease.
As I continued to explore The Daily, I was struck by its commitment to providing exclusive content that can only be accessed through this platform. With its innovative approach to digital journalism and focus on quality over quantity, this newspaper has the potential to be a major player in the industry. Whether or not it will ultimately succeed remains to be seen – but one thing's for sure: The Daily is definitely worth watching.
Overall, I'm thoroughly impressed with The Daily so far, and I'm excited to see how it will continue to evolve over time. With its innovative approach to digital journalism and commitment to quality, this newspaper has the potential to be a game-changer in the industry.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's up everyone John ringer from TechnoBuffalo here and I want to give you an overview of news corpse just launched the daily it is the first newspaper dedicated just to the iPad there isn't a print version of this in existence uh this is made just for the mobile platform and was launched today February 2nd so let's go ahead and get started so first the app is a free download after that you're going to get two weeks free courtesy of Verizon Wireless and if you'd like to continue the service it's going to cost you just about a doll for a week and you can continue that for as long as you'd like with new content being delivered just like a newspaper would uh during the evening it'll be very content heavy during the day uh in the early mornings but more content as a breaks it be pushed out to it throughout the day so let's go ahead and open it up here it is the daily you get a pretty cool splash screen and you are off and I'm showing this right now uh in landscape mode but of course you can rotate it into portrait as well so here is your daily home screen uh and it's sort of interesting I think of this as an actual newspaper uh made digital and you have sort of those same digital features so I'll walk you through the basic UI of course it pulls in your area and your weather so it's 66° where I am right now my apologies to those of you that are watching this uh on the East Coast with feet and feet and feet of snow or foot feets foots of snow uh whatever that might be so you can see your weather right there that daily button and the daily logo is going to be your home button it's going to take you back to content I will take a look at that in just a minute you've got a carousel of content right here you can go ahead and scroll through these are just articles almost like you'd see as you flip through the pages in a newspaper and you can tap on any of those and bring you right to them we'll show that in just a minute on the bottom you've got a navigation page essentially the sections of your newspaper broken down by news gossip opinions arts and lives apps and games and sports you've got a little arrow down there in the bottom right hand corner you go ahead and pull that up and this is going to open up an even more menu so you've got those same uh sections we just talked about this is where you can watch some of the video that's going to be embedded into the Articles if you just want to watch some video you can actually have some stories read to you that's what that headphone is going to be you can go ahead and fast forward if you're not watching what you want and if you want to just randomly go to an article and Shuffle to one you can go ahead and do that and it'll just pick one at random for you hit stop and that's what you can watch uh there are a decent amount of saving options as well of course a paperclip go ahead and hit that you can save it right to your save pages and come back and read it another day if You' like go ahead and hit done you got some settings as well it's going to pull in your ZIP code automatically you can set it push notifications for breaking news um and sort of General overview stuff so let me show you what an article looks like here this is the homepage of the daily uh just launched today looks like Egypt is the cover story so I'll go ahead and open it up and I should say that when you open up the application if you have your iPad off for example it will take a minute or two to download the issue if you've used the Wall Street Journal app or anything like that you'd be familiar to sort of those download times so here it is the falling pharaoh and you go ahead and sort of scroll through see your table of contents there a lot of stuff to look at of course you can just tap uh and go right to one or you can go ahead and sort of keep scrolling uh down here if you'd like so you can see what else we have and keep going this is an overview of the daily and they're going to walk you through the stuff that I'm showing you go and hit play obviously and it'll play the video uh you've got some sharing options here as well if you want to let's go to another one so here's the picture uh you can go ahead and share it you can send it to Facebook Twitter uh email it or whatever You' like go ahead and exit out of that uh this little icon right here is going to bring down a carousel if you select that it's going to bring you right back to where you were let's go ahead and keep uh playing now let's say you're reading something and you want to keep browsing through a newspaper one of my favorite things to do with the physical newspaper just sort of thumb through the pages and see if see anything interesting well there's actually a digital way to do that now with the daily which is kind of neat see this little bar across the top uh if you tap that bar it's going to pull up essentially browsing through all the pages so you can see what there is a thumbnail version there anything that you want to see so look the picture of the dog looks kind of cute wo there it is uh you can go ahead and start reading about this and it looks like is a French Bulldog uh you can read about New York's doggy disco and sort of scroll through uh now you're probably saying what's different between what we've seen with the Wall Street Journal online and other newspapers online uh this is kind of immersive content uh so you've got some pictures here and sort of things are standard um often times articles will give you 360° pictures images so you can actually scroll through them uh video is going to be embedded into the um some of the images and it's optimized just for uh the iPad so here's a video you're also going to get commercials go ahead and scroll out of that um you can go ahead and open up any of these pictures here are some videos that's embedded uh an article for time well spent things like that so go ahead and hit the uh top button up here continue to scroll through you can also see the progress bar to show you where you are and if you want to get back to that main home screen with that original Carousel as I mentioned earlier you just go ahead and tap the daily and you are going to be right back there and you can go ahead and browse whichever sections you want so say gossip go ahead and tap that you get an article here on Natalie Portman having a baby girl evidently um or pregnant with a baby perhaps a girl 50% chance uh that it's going to be a girl and didn't go ahead and sort of scroll through um like you would on a normal paper um can't really speak much to content first daily content looks to be pretty decent um it's on par with you know most other newspapers uh but certainly time's going to tell whether or not this is going to be a successful platform or not uh if the audience is going to react well to a completely digital uh newspaper without having the option for a print physical copy I whether not the quality of the articles whether it's editorials or news uh is going to be unbiased present the news in sort of a educated way um you know has yet to be seen uh but at least right now it's a very intriguing platform uh with a really easy delivery method uh and it brings the news with you wherever you go so right now I'm I'm watching it very closely I'm going to continue to watch it I'm looking forward to my free TW we subscription and getting a chance to feel the content get a chance to know some of the writers uh and see if the daily is indeed the game changer uh that News Corp is saying it might be so anyway I'm very curious to hear what you guys have to think uh leave your comments down below I am John rer from TechnoBuffalo sure to check out the site for all your Tech news for
