A Quick Update on PSN: What You Need to Know
Hey guys, so today I'm here with a quick update on what's going on with PSN. I was just on Twitter earlier and I saw that everybody was talking about it, so I wanted to share some information with you all. It turns out that Sony has finally come clean about what's been going on for the past week with PSN.
PSN Has Been Down for About a Week
PSN has been down for about a week now, and they've really been vague about what's causing the problem. However, just recently they posted a full blog update that I highly recommend checking out in the link in the description below. In this update, they reveal that someone hacked into PSN and stole a lot of data.
The Data That Was Stolen
So, what exactly did this hacker steal? Well, basically, they got your name, your address, including your city, state, and zip code, as well as your country. They also stole your email address, which you used to sign up for PSN in the first place. And, of course, they also got your birth date, your PSN password, and your login information.
Why Is This a Big Deal?
So, why is this a big deal? Well, if you use the same password on multiple sites, including your email account, then this hacker can actually access not just your PSN account, but also your other online accounts. For example, if you have an email account and use the same password as your PSN account, then this hacker could potentially log into both of those accounts.
What You Need to Do
So, what can you do to protect yourself? Well, first of all, you need to change your passwords right away. If you reused your PSN password on other sites, including your email account, then you need to go ahead and change those passwords too. This is especially important because hackers often use the same password across multiple accounts.
How to Change Your Passwords
Changing your passwords can be a bit of a hassle, but it's worth it to stay safe online. First, make sure you have a strong password that includes a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters. Then, go ahead and change the password on all of your accounts, including your email account and any other sites that you use the same password for.
What About My Credit Card Information?
I know some of you might be worried about what happened to your credit card information. Thankfully, Sony doesn't believe that your credit card information was stolen in this hacking incident. However, they can't entirely rule it out, so it's still a good idea to keep an eye on your statements and contact your bank if anything suspicious comes up.
What's Next?
Well, that's the situation right now with PSN. I'll be back soon to give you another update on what's going on, but for now, just make sure you're taking care of yourself online by changing those passwords and keeping an eye on your statements. And don't forget to share this video with any friends who might have been affected by this hacking incident.
So, that's it for today's quick update on PSN. I hope you found this helpful, and I'll see you all in the next video.

WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey guys so today I'm here with a quick update on what's going on with PSN uh so I was on Twitter earlier and I just popped up everybody started talking about it basically what's happened is is that Sony's finally come clean with what's going on for the past week with PSN so if you're not familiar and I'm sure most of you guys are PSN has been down for about a week and they really have been very vague about what is the problem however they just posted a full blog update and I highly recommend you can check it out in the link in the description uh but basically the gist of it is is that someone hacked PSN and stole a lot of data so I'll actually read it to you guys um basically what happened is is that uh someone hacked into PSN and stole your name your address including your city state and zip code and your country uh they stole your email address that you used to open up PSN your birth date your PSN password and login information now that's the important thing I I do want to mention now that's not your email passw or anything like that that is just for PSN who if you use that same password so for example you know if it's uh 1 2 3 4 5 6 and your password on your email is the exact same then it is a high chance that someone whoever stole this can use that to access your email or indeed any other site on the entire internet that you used it so it's Facebook or anything like that so what I highly highly recommend is if you reuse the password I know all of us are guilty of doing that from time to time if you reused your PSN password on any other site anywhere I highly recommend to go change that password as soon as you can now that's just good just good advice in general always change your passwords every once in a while but this is especially important as most of the time when they steal this kind of stuff the number one thing they want is your password so they can get your email uh Facebook all that kind of stuff spam there's a lot of stuff that you do not want to happen so highly recommend go change all your passwords if you ever reuse the same password from PSN uh now as far as the other data that they stole they of course stole your PSN handle and online ID uh so they have all that information and of course with your name and address and all that kind of stuff definitely a really bad deal uh they also possibly would have stolen your profile data which anything you would have put in your profile as well as your purchase history and billing address uh definitely not a very good deal they also probably stole your password security answers so you know like uh what's your mother's made name all those kind of questions anything you put in PSN very well could have been compromised so uh this is a really bad deal if you have a Playstation 3 or PSP and you have all this information out there uh there's really nothing you can do right now other than change your passwords and keep an eye out now they do not believe that your credit card data or your debit card or anything of that was stolen however they can't entirely rule it out so what I recommend there I wouldn't be super worried but what I do recommend is just take a look uh most uh credit cards and everything you can go online and check your statements and whatnot just kind of keep an eye on that in the next you know little while make sure there's nothing uh you know fishy nothing pops up there and if it is of course contact your bank or whoever uh owns your credit card so anyway guys just wanted to do this quick update for you uh a really bad deal de but the most important thing I really want to get this across please change your passwords if you ever reused it and definitely keep an eye out for you know spam mail junk mail um all that kind of good stuff and you should be okay uh now if this you found this helpful please share it around with any of your friends who have PSN um let everyone know what's going on so everyone can be prepared as far as what's going on anyway guys definitely stay tuned I will be back and I'll make another video if there's any more updateshey guys so today I'm here with a quick update on what's going on with PSN uh so I was on Twitter
