The world and its perception of the automaker's intentions are shifting, as if the industry is working towards a better understanding of what constitutes a luxury experience. Cadillac wants to deliver a world-class experience in a full-size package, which is why we find ourselves at this juncture – the fully electric 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ. Upon first impression, my attention was drawn to the vehicle's size and style, which, in my opinion, are perfectly complemented by its design.
The standard Escalade has been modified with just the right amount of curvature and sculpting in the doors, followed by a uniquely tron-esque face that completes the look. Although it is a huge vehicle, Cadillac has achieved a sense of harmony and balance in its proportions, with 24-inch wheels wrapped around them, featuring 275/50R24 tires – a size that would typically accommodate 35s. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that while most angles are well-executed, the rear section falls short slightly, with the split lighting scheme feeling somewhat tacked on.
However, stepping inside the vehicle and you will quickly forget about any concerns regarding its exterior design. The interior is a true luxury experience through and through, with every detail meticulously considered to provide an exceptional overall feel. It's impossible not to notice the main showpiece up front – a 55-inch display screen real estate that serves as the focal point of the cabin. This curved panel consists of two screens that blend seamlessly into one, providing ample space for both the driver and passenger.
The main screen is a 35-inch display specifically for the driver's use, while the 25-inch screen on the passenger side is polarized to prevent visibility once the vehicle is shifted out of park if it's not being driven by the person seated in that seat. Those looking at the optional executive second-row package will be treated to stowable tray tables, a 12.6-inch display screen, dual wireless phone charging spots, massaging seats, and speakers integrated into the headrest. This premium package is certainly worth considering for those who want an enhanced level of luxury in their Escalade IQ.
Despite its many comforts and features, there is one notable omission – Apple CarPlay. In this case, it's all Google-based infotainment, which might be fine for some but will undoubtedly leave others feeling frustrated at the lack of flexibility. Furthermore, the interior design does feature a noticeable absence of buttons in favor of touchscreen controls, which has been a recurring theme in our previous discussions regarding Cadillac's approach to user interface.
However, it's hard not to appreciate the Escalade IQ when it comes to power and performance. This vehicle is a dual-motor electric wonder, boasting a 200-kilowatt-hour battery pack that yields an estimated driving range of 450 miles – although this number may vary depending on how aggressively you drive. Under standard conditions, the Escalade IQ produces 680 horsepower and 615 pound-feet of torque. But press a button or switch to Velocity Max mode and it becomes a true beast, delivering 750 horsepower and an astonishing 785 pound-feet of torque.
With this level of power comes the ability to accelerate from 0-60 in under five seconds – an accomplishment that is remarkable given the vehicle's estimated curb weight of over 8,700 pounds. When it comes to recharging, you're well covered with a DC fast charger capable of delivering up to 100 miles per 10 minutes of charge time. Homeowners with top-tier Level 2 systems will be able to charge the Escalade IQ in as little as 37 minutes.
On the road, thanks to its front and rear independent suspension fitted with air springs and magneride dampers, you can expect a smooth ride despite its size. The rear wheel steering system might not quite live up to expectations – Cadillac seems to be working on an innovative Crab Walk mode, designed to aid in tighter maneuvers without sacrificing its massive dimensions.
With the starting price of $130,000, this is certainly a luxury vehicle at an exceptionally high level. In order to deliver a truly first-class experience, Cadillac has undoubtedly been willing to invest heavily into its flagship model – and it's worth considering if you're looking for an electric full-size EB vehicle that redefines what a luxury driving experience feels like.
