iOS 14 Developer Beta 6: A Comprehensive Review

Hey guys, itemize help here welcome back to the channel today I want to talk about iOS 14 developer beta 6. This is my usual follow-up where I talk about additional new features and changes as well as bugs within the software after using it for about a day or two so this is 48 hours later and by the way, iOS 14 developer and public beta are now available if you did not know so you can download this for public beta as well so if you're in the public beta testing program go ahead and download it if you wish to do so but in this video, as I mentioned, we're going to go over some of the latest changes I've come across after using the software.

There are a few minor changes here on the home screen right here these dots that indicate the pages on the home screen you can now press and hold and actually swipe or tap through the pages on the home screen of your iPhone. Now, this is not something that you're probably going to want to do but it is a different behavior for that particular feature on the software. So, that's something that's definitely new although you probably will never use that now.

When you first open the Maps application, the Apple Maps application, you get this new splash screen that you see here. It gives you cycle navigation so you can go ahead and get around cities on your bicycle big cities like New York LA etc. You also have guide recommendations for places in different places around you and you have speed cameras which is now a feature available on the Apple Maps application. So, something new here for the Maps, a new splash screen that we now get in iOS 14.

One thing that I do want to talk about and this is an important bug. This is a video capture that I have from YouTube after I was using it last night and you can see there YouTube actually enabled the camera on my iPhone as I was browsing and watching videos. Now, I've noticed that this happened when I was watching ads so I'm not sure if it's the front-facing camera that's been enabled or the rear-facing camera but this is again a video capture of this happening and I've noticed that a lot of you guys have also experienced this with the microphone as well. So, the YouTube application in iOS appears to be enabling randomly it doesn't happen all the time either the camera front or rear in some cases the microphone is well so as you can see by this clip here that I capture it is just sort of interesting to see this happen.

Here's a video capture of what happened when I was watching an ad on YouTube. As you can see, the camera on my iPhone gets enabled randomly and starts recording even though I'm not doing anything with it. This is really weird and I'm not sure why it's happening but hopefully maybe YouTube will fix that here in the near future.

Last but not least, I want to talk about a bug within the AirPods connection. If you connect AirPods or any other wireless headphones, you see here it says "center attacks" instead of describing the actual product that's connecting to Bluetooth. Let me play that video capture again here screen capture. I'm connecting the AirPods Pro as you can see they're connecting go back to the home screen and there's a bug there that says "uh centered text" instead of saying AirPods Pro or being connected but something mine are there to note as well from the latest beta beta 6.

However, the performance of the software feels very stable so far. It feels good course you can stay tuned for my follow-up video in about four days where I talk about it take a deeper dive within the battery and also performance of the software itself Apple is now on a weekly release cycle so in that video we'll talk about expected release dates for the next beta as well.
