Introducing Forbes.com: A New Era in Online Discussion

Hey guys, it's David here, and I'm excited to introduce you to my brand new website, forbes.com. As we launch this exciting new chapter, I want to take a moment to talk about the name. The name "forbes" actually comes from the idea of biting into information - in binary terms, 8 bits make up one bite. It's a metaphor for diving into conversation and exploring topics with all of you.

At its core, forbes.com is an open forum where anyone can discuss anything they want. We're not just another social blog; we're taking it to the next level by adding more communication and community features. I'm thrilled to say that our stats are already impressive - we get thousands of views every day, and on average, we have five new topics per day. That's amazing, and I'm grateful for all of you who have been following along.

One of the key reasons I created forbes.com is because not everyone feels like writing or reading blogs. We want to make it easy for anyone to join in on the conversation, regardless of their interests or expertise. So, we've set up open forums for a wide range of topics, from tech and gadgets (including Mac iPod and iPhone discussions) to Microsoft talk and open-source projects. We also have video games, music, movies, TV shows, graphic design, photography, web design, and more.

As our community grows, we may need to break some of these forums into smaller groups if they become too popular. For example, we might create separate forums for music and movies, or dedicate one to graphic design and another to video games. But don't worry - we'll always keep it simple and easy to navigate.

Now, I know what you're thinking: "What about social media?" Well, we've got that covered too! We have a dedicated forum for anything relating to social media, including YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, friend feed, and more. And if you want to show off your work or share your projects with the community, we encourage it - in fact, we've created an image gallery specifically for this purpose.

Here's how it works: simply upload your photos, videos, or other content to our gallery, and we'll showcase them on our front page. We're always looking for new talent and exciting projects, so don't be shy about sharing your work with us.

But before we get started, I need to warn you: we have some house rules in place. Please keep all posts clean and respectful - no spamming or self-promotion allowed! Our goal is to build a community that's fun, engaging, and informative. If you can follow these simple guidelines, we'll make sure everyone has a great time.

Now that we've got our forums up and running, it's time for some behind-the-scenes news. We're not done yet - in fact, we're just getting started! Our website will be changing over the weekend, so please don't get too attached to anything. But what's new is even better: we'll soon be giving you all the option to choose between different styles for our forum interface. If you're feeling adventurous, try out a green theme - or if you prefer something more classic, stick with blue. We'll also have a plain black and white option for those who like it simple.

Finally, I want to thank each and every one of you for being part of this journey. Your support means the world to me, and I'm excited to see where we'll go from here. the blog so here we go we have uh open forums for all things Mac iPod and iPhone Microsoft talk open source and everything else so if you're into Tech and you probably are then there's practically a forum for everyone and then we have video video games which everyone loves video games right we have Microsoft Xbox Sony PlayStation Nintendo and the classics and then we have general interest such as music movies and TV that's one Forum um however if it's popular enough then I'll break them up into each own like for instance music and then another Forum will be movies and the third will be TV so we'll see how that happens and then we have um a forum dedicated to graphic design photography web design and anything else creative you like to do I guess that's the basic way best way of explaining it called creative Delight so there you go and a third one is called social media that's for anything relating to social media uh that goes for YouTube Facebook Twitter friend feed dig Ustream Myspace anything you want and however if you're looking to plug your stuff you have to do that in user generated content which I'll talk about in a second and finally we have the last category of forums we have the lobby which is great for General chitchat we have image gallery this is guys this is a very Media Forum this this is this is kind of like show upack.com which we be making a return um in in September or October but this is this is a for dedicated to images only so this goes for screenshots your photography random images found on the web um anything you like uh just please as as you can see right here just keep it clean that's all I ask so if you have a video I mean like a photo to show off or screenshot or even your Mac set of or iPod collection or even yourself um go to image gallery and post your photos and have fun user generated content this is the Forum to plug your content basically um I notice a lot of people try to plug their content wherever they are they're on Facebook Myspace Dig YouTube the social block anywhere you are um however this is the place to plug your content and I can guarantee you a lot of people will see this so so if you have a video you want to show off photo or anything else you can think of this is the place to plug your content so have fun and have fun with others and finally we have Forum support this is where you post your bugs and any feedback or features that you want to see in the near future and I will consider them and I'm also going to hire a few moderators over the weekend so this place will be moderated so it's not
