**The Incredible S: A Powerful Android Device**

57 is what the average score on Neocore has been for us, which is also a pretty good score from The Incredible S uh gaming on this phone is pretty much uh easy and you'll have no issues playing all sorts of games on this be it Angry Birds or uh Raging Thunder all sorts of games play fluidly and uh the screen is so vivid and colorful it's a lot of fun playing games which have a lot of color including Angry Birds as you can see playing games on the Incredible S is a breeze and uh a lot of fun as well. You have no lag from the device even if you're playing graphic intensive games, so that's uh a good thing.

**Performance and Display**

You also get something which STC calls the car panel and it's basically if you have your device in the car it gives you these six buttons so uh very nice and large buttons that are given for your convenience quickly uh find your destination and your location on the maps it will basically open up maps and it's a faster and easier interface it's almost like a GPS navigator driving or using this in your car. So that's good, uh this features the latest version of maps and uh you also get 3D maps although 3D maps are not yet available in India but you get the latest version of maps and you can switch layers between all the available layers as you can see and it'll find your location quite easily.

**Maps Application**

You also get an inbuilt Compass so the whole Maps rotate when you rotate your device so that's something nice and there is an arrow pointing you in the right direction as well, pin to zoom also works in maps without any issues and you can also swipe left or right, maps are really fluid and fast as you can see when you turn from portra to landscape. The buttons on the side switch so making it that much more easy for you or convenient for you really nice Maps application, sttc also gives something which is called the HTC Hub from where you can download all the available HTC apps and plugins widgets sound sets scenes skins wallpapers ringtones alarm sounds and you can also manage the things that you've downloaded.

**HTC Hub**

STC also gives this flashlight application where basically you have three levels of the light and uh you can control the flashlight with this application so uh really unique applications given by HTC, you can download a bunch of others from the HTC Hub or the Android Marketplace. This device is quite the performer we are quite happy with the performance overall, the device has very nice build quality the screen is scratch resistant it's not scratch proof it's scratch resistant so a screen protector is a must and as you can see it's very very fingerprint friendly unless you can carry around a cloth or you can find an anti-fingerprint screen protector for the back we don't think you need a cover on this device because the back cover is really rubberized and nice and you won't damage the back cover that easily as well so it's quite a rugged back cover.

**Battery Life**

The battery life on the device we got about 5 and 1/2 hours of talk time on this device very good performance in terms of battery life, the super LCD also conserves a lot of battery uh audio video playback on this device is absolutely stunning we really love the front screen we saw the screen is really crisp and Vivid and we had no issues uh using this device the touchcreen performance is absolutely brilliant.

**Camera Performance**

The most important thing that we missed on the device is a dedicated camera shutter button, the camera performance not up to Mark with some of the other uh devices available in the market we don't like the location of the micro USB charging port they could have included one at the bottom or on the top would have made it a little more convenient, the included earphones the HTC Innovation earphones really nice and uh really good quality audio you can also add any earphones thanks to the 3.5 mm headphone jack so that's an advantage.

**Verdict**

been launched in India priced it about 28,000 rupees this device features Android 2.2 and has a super LCD front display over here the device also has a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor and a new improved GPU so we're going to take a look at all those things in the feature let's talk about the build quality of the device and the exterior uh in the front here you have a 4-in uh capacitive multi-touch display which is at 480x 800 pixels above that is a 1.3 map front-facing camera and the speaker phone Grill which hides the speaker phone and a couple of light indicators on the bottom here you have uh touch sensitive buttons we'll talk more about these uh these are really interesting buttons and we'll talk more about these when we turn on the device on the bottom here you have the microphone and nothing on the right hand side of the device uh on the left here you have a new improved volume rocker compared to the Desire HD this this one is much more tactile and much more prominent is a little raised out of the body as well so you can easily access it and you won't miss it the charging port is on the left hand side we would have preferred it on the bottom or on the top but this one is on the left hand side so is a little inconvenient and you can't really dock the device because the charging port is on the left on the back here you have a camera similar to The Desire HD an 8 map autofocus camera with dual LED flash and the speaker phone we really like the back cover on the Incredible S uh it's fully rubberized and feels really really solid in the hand and another aspect is that wherever you keep the device you won't be damaging the back like in other devices which have metal bodies you can scratch the back but in this uh it won't get damaged and it provides extra grip uh even when you lay it down on a Surface so it won't slide off that easily on the top of the device you have a power and lock unlock button with similar to the volume rocker is much more tactile than the one on the Desire HD easily accessible and you have the 3.5 mm headphone jack there's also a noise cancellation mic on the top over here which is an additional feature so that's good so this is the lock screen of Incredible S features Android 2.2 with the HTC Sense UI on top uh this is the lock screen which displays your date and time as well as your network information or basically your carrier and uh below the date and time you get your missed call notifications and your SMS messages sliding the screen down you get the HTC Sense UI which has these brilliant anim ations uh you have your clock and weather widget over here along with seven home screens uh three on either side of the main home screen which you can populate with your widgets uh according to what you would like to do there also sttc leap for those who are not familiar with it you can simply pinch in on your main screen to uh display all the seven home screens and you can quickly tap on any of them to jump to that so uh that's a quick jump feature or the HTC leap as HTC likes to call it a very unique and nice feature makes the device really easy to use also you can access HTC leap by pressing down on the home button alternatively if you're on any end screen and you want to jump back to the main screen you can just press the home button and you jump directly back to the main screen so uh great features in the sttc sense when it comes to that the Incredible S also features the new version of sense which has a newer personalization drawer where you can select your scenes according to what you would like so you get multiple scenes and you can download several others from the STC Hub uh you can also download several wallpapers from STC you can use your own pictures or live wallpapers as available on the device or you can download from the marketplace uh you also get something which is unique to STC which is called Skin which basically customizes the way your device looks and feels basically you can change the bottom panel into a square panel or a rounded panel like the one we currently have and uh similar to other devices you can add widgets application icons or shortcuts you can also add folders you also get sound settings so you get your sound sets you can change the complete sound set instead of changing individual sounds so that's good you can also change your ringtone your notification sound or your alarm individually as well so uh that's brilliant uh pressing on the main menu reveals the full menu and uh this is your full menu and whatever applications you download come into this menu you can simply hold down on an application if you want to bring it down to the main page simply hold down on the application and bring it to the main page and place it there this is available in all the Android uh devices so nothing special there I'm going to quickly go into the settings menu and show you that uh this device runs Android 2.2.1 and uh STC has promised that the newer version Android 2.3 will be out for this device shortly so uh we'll be seeing Android 2.3 on this device very soon so there you go Android 2.2.1 let's quickly take a look at some of the performance factors of this device I'm going to quickly going into the internet browser and quickly load up .in as you can see the device displays the website in the mobile mode and uh you have kinetic scrolling and a very nice and clear display the slcd really improves the performance of the display the colors are bright and Vivid and you can read text without any problems the touch screen is also very very responsive and the newer improved tweaks and the graphic performance on this device is absolutely brilliant so you have no lag whatsoever while you're scrolling through the pages and uh it's really very smooth as you can possibly see I'm going to switch to the main website I'm going to show you that this device also has an accelerometer so when you switch your device from portrait to landscape the web page will also switch or the device will also display from portrait landscape the other unique thing in the sttc incredible which is a first for sttc is that if you notice these buttons at the bottom here and the minute you switch from portrait to landscape these buttons also switch now this is something which STC has managed to do with a bunch of magnets and open diodes and the brilliant part about this screen is also that when you turn off the screen you can't see any buttons whatsoever and when you turn on the screen and you turn from portrait to landscape these buttons switch and that is really a unique thing that we've not seen on any other device till date so let's quickly go back to uh our web page and show you that all websites are loaded properly on this this device also has the latest version of flash that can be updated as soon as you get the device so log into the marketplace and update to the latest version of flash this will play all your flash content on the website without any issues as you can see the websites are loaded properly without any problem whatsoever all your videos and images are loaded properly uh we are running on a slower Wi-Fi network here today we have some issues with the Wi-Fi so that's why the website is loading slow but there is no performance issue with the device whatsoever and we you're really impressed with what HTC has done with the devices internet capabilities you can also pinch to zoom in and what HTC Incredible S does is it reflows your text to fit into your screen so all your text Will refit into your screen and you won't have to pan left or right to read your article or your news information or anything that you're reading on the website will come into the same page which is a very good and unique feature and as you can see the text is really really crisp and very easy to read also as we mentioned this device will run full flash and we're going to search for our videos on YouTube let's take a look at the Incredible S unboxing video that we just recently uploaded what's happening guys this is B for.in and today we're going to be unboxing the new HTC Incredible S we've got this unit before the device is actually been announced in India but we have a Feeling by the time this video goes up as you can see that uh videos look really really crisp on the display and sound quality is absolutely brilliant in comparison to the Desire HD the volume is much more louder and much more clearer show you this device's dialer the dialer is a sttc customized Dialer for uh Android 2.2 and you get all your contacts in the screen over here you can also pull out the keyboard you can tap on this button to look at the call logs you can dial a number to get this screen and you can tap this button to enable the loudspeaker the proximity sensor on the Incredible S is also very very responsive and as you can see even though our finger is lifted uh so far away the screen turns off and uh the proximity sensor really is a good performer no issues with the proximity sensor the earpiece quality is really really very impressive and uh we had no issues to listening to audio from it the microphone also picks up sound without any issue and we had no issues while we were on the phone call and we had zero dropped calls in our 5 hours of call testing that we did so all in all a good phone performer let's quickly jump into the messaging I'm going to show you what messaging looks like on this device the keyboard on the HTC Incredible S is an HTC keyboard and they have been putting this most of their recent devices since the device is missing a trackpad or a track ball on the bottom of the keyboard HTC has included navigation buttons so these are really easy if you if youve typed something so I'm going to quickly type something now that I made a mistake while typing I there are two ways of getting to that if I had a track ball or a trackpad I would have just simply scrolled to that I can tap on this which would take me some amount of effort to get to the right place or I could simply use these keys to go back to my error and correct it so that's something which is nice in the keyboard the keyboard is very fast and responsive also the keyboard can be replaced with a swipe keyboard if you would like to do that let's quickly jump into the camera we'll talk about the camera the camera camera is a 8 mapix autofocus camera the placement of the camera is quite strange if you ask us and it's really difficult to hold the camera without getting a finger in front of it or without having something block it we also really missed a dedicated camera shutter button you get a bunch of options here you can turn on or off Flash and you can switch from camera mode to video mode you can also add a bunch of effects which stdc gives in their uh camera so that's something nice and uh you can also go into Quick preview and preview your images the camera also shoots video at 720p so you get a decent video quality the front facing camera is a 1.3 megap camera but is not as much of a performer as we expect it to be HTC allows you to add effects to even the front camera so that's something which is nice and you can take your Facebook profile pictures from the camera on your device using a bunch of effects uh that uh SDC gives and we really like this Distortion effect that HTC gives so you can play around with these effects and take your picture and upload it to Facebook directly from your device the Dual LED flash which is included on the back side is not a good performer and uh the camera lacks low light performance let's quickly look at benchmarks now and uh we'll do a full quadrant Benchmark for you guys uh so that you can see the result as you can see the quadrant Benchmark result is quite high it's on the top over here we get a 1582 uh which is quite an impressive score we'll also run a neocore test for you guys so let's quickly do easily you also get an inbuilt Compass so the whole Maps rotate when you rotate your device so that's something nice and there is an arrow pointing you in the right direction as well pin to zoom also works in maps without any issues and you can also swipe left or right maps are really fluid and fast as you can see when you turn from portra to landscape the buttons on the side switch so making it that much more easy for you or convenient for you really nice Maps application sttc also gives something which is called the HTC Hub from where you can download all the available HTC apps and plugins widgets sound sets scenes skins wallpapers ringtones alarm sounds and you can also manage the things that you've downloaded STC also gives this flashlight application where basically you have three levels of the light and uh you can control the flashlight with this application so uh really unique applications given by HTC you can download a bunch of others from the HTC Hub or the Android Marketplace this device is quite the performer we are quite happy with the performance overall the device has very nice build quality the screen is scratch resistant it's not scratch proof it's scratch resistant so a screen protector is a must and as you can see it's very very fingerprint friendly unless you can carry around a cloth or you can find an anti-fingerprint screen protector for the back we don't think you need a cover on this device because the back cover is really rubberized and nice and you won't damage the back cover that easily as well so it's quite a rugged back cover uh the battery life on the device we got about 5 and 1/2 hours of talk time on this device very good performance in terms of battery life the super LCD also conserves a lot of battery uh audio video playback on this device is absolutely stunning we really love the front screen we saw the screen is really crisp and Vivid and we had no issues uh using this device the touchcreen performance is absolutely brilliant the most important thing that we missed on the device is a dedicated camera shutter button the camera performance not up to Mark with some of the other uh devices available in the market we don't like the location of the micro USB charging port they could have included one at the bottom or on the top would have made it a little more convenient the included earphones the HTC Innovation earphones really nice and uh really good quality audio you can also add any earphones thanks to the 3.5 mm headphone jack so that's an advantage the earpiece and the microphone on the device really very responsive and uh the earpiece very clear audio no issues with that the speaker phone fairly loud not as loud as we'd want from a device like this but much louder than the desire it's pretty impressive add-on into the HTC stable and uh if you're in the market for a Android device in the price range of about 26,000 Rupees this is a definite buy and uh we don't see any issues
