The Raspberry Pi Foundation Announces the New Raspberry Pi 3 Model A+
What's going on guys? CTA Prime back here again, and this is gonna be a real quick video today. The Raspberry Pi Foundation announced the new Raspberry Pi 3 model A+, and it's on sale right now for $25. I know it's not the Raspberry Pi for that everybody was hoping for, but this thing is actually pretty cool and for the price, I think it's definitely worth it.
As you can see here, it's pretty much a slimmed-down Raspberry Pi 3 B+. They gave us 512 megabytes of LPDDR2 RAM, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, improved USB mass-storage booting, improve thermal management, and the CPU is the same one in the Raspberry Pi 3 B+, which is a 1.4 GHz 64-bit quad-core ARM Cortex A53. Now this little board is gonna be awesome for slim and smaller projects, so they have slimmed it down by a lot. I know we only have 512 Megs of RAM instead of one gigabyte, but it should get us by with all the emulators we play on our Raspberry Pi's right now.
Here's a little size comparison - it's much smaller than the Raspberry Pi 3 B+. They also have the new case for it. One thing that really caught my eye here was this, and I mentioned in March that the three plus platform is the final iteration of the classic Raspberry Pi. Whatever we do next will necessarily be less of an evolution because it will need new core silicon, a new processor node, and new memory technology. So the 3A+ is about closing things out in style.
So what have I gathered from that? The next Raspberry Pi, which we're gonna call it the Raspberry Pi 4, is gonna be a little different. Now, I hope they throw some DDR3 in there, stronger processor, and I think they're gonna be able to do it. If you're interested in buying one, I'm gonna leave this link in the description - you can head over to the pie shop USA Micro Center, Cana Kit, and all you got to do is swap this out if you're in the UK, you can get it from CPC Pie Hut. There's tons of places to get this, and as soon as they're available on Amazon, I'll add that also.
That's pretty much it for this video, guys. Let me know what you think about this new slimmer Raspberry Pi 3. I think it looks awesome. Got one on the way right now, and I can't wait to test it out. If you could hit that like button, subscribe to the channel, and like always, thanks for watching.
