But so did everyone else oh the out is just ahead can i catch it come on volvo power come on hybrid you can do it beat the diesel did i what i was only shouting for second place i knew i was thrashed by that bmw god that shot off the line i just about managed to beat the diesel though just so then what exactly happened well the bmw completed the standing quarter mile in 12.4 seconds the volvo took 13.4 seconds and the audi crossed the line in 13.5 seconds

Okay let's take the launch at the equation we have a rolling race from 50 miles an hour the car's in their comfy settings automatic mode for the gearbox i'm going to count it in three two one go and kick down the audi kicked down the best there he took off first the bw was the slowest but not anymore it's now the quickest i'm just making my way downtown very slowly past the audi and now it's pulling past me again what the heck and now it's bugging off i've been destroyed bollocks i think i spoke too soon then didn't i oh look i'm going to impress the idea actually no i'm not at all i'm getting beaten again let's try something else oh right there i'm just going to get that bird of prey off the runway because i don't want to eat it go on go go come go i know there's a kill there but you will be killed if you don't go come on we don't want to hit you it's beautiful looking bird go on no no just get off the runway and don't come back go on i'm trying to save your life here you daf bugger just go away all right you can have that in a bit just remember where it is bird brain now

We have a rolling race with the cars in their sportier setting with the gear boxes in manual mode so here we go three two one go bmw picked up the best they picked up the least best now i'm going past the idea or at least i think i am but is it gonna happen again is it gonna come past me um yes look i did 130 and it's good by audi designed for the autobahn really funny that the way i get ahead of the audience it's like no no no no you're not getting past me for too long then it comes back bmw's on another level let's face it final challenge brake test from 70 miles an hour when we reach the line full emergency stop which car will stop in the shortest distance come on volvo braking it's safety this getting squeezed by the seat belt i was more likely to hit another car than the others because i'm almost half a car's length ahead of both of them knocking at it from here i would say that the audi actually won breaking the shortest distance then the bmw and most of all this still at least when i was braking i was recouping energy and putting it back into the battery so i could use it later to help improve my fuel economy so well i lost this i might just have helped towards saving the planet a little bit

race so these cars have very different powertrains this has a two liter turbocharged and supercharged petrol engine up front at the back it's got an electric motor and combined they produce 387 horsepower it also has 640 newton meters of torque it's four-wheel drive it's got an 8-speed automatic gearbox but no launch control that bmw has a three liter straight six turbo petrol engine with 374 horsepower and 500 newton meters of torque it also has an eight-speed automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive but it does have launch control that audi has a three liter v6 diesel with 347 horsepower and the most torque here 700 newton meters it also has an 8-speed automatic gearbox quattro four-wheel drive and a sort of launch control a bit vague here it's not just holding on the brake it does seem to build the revs up a little bit but it's not a full-on launch control system anyway enough waffle we need to get on with this drag race but there is some things you need to know this volvo costs around 50 grand so does the bmw whereas the audi is 47 000 pounds the audi weighs about 1.8 tonnes the bmw 1.7 tonnes and this is almost two tons so that may affect things anyway before we
