Chipolo ONE Spot! The Alternative to Apple AirTag! Review & Compare!
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's up everybody welcome welcome welcome it is andrew here your host and today i'm going to be walking you through the chipolo one spot tracker so it's the one spot which is a little bit different than the rest of the chipolo trackers though of course they do look super similar so i'm going to walk you through a bit of a review of this guy uh and its biggest differences between you know apple's own air tanks is it important should it matter and when one should you pick up so again this guy cheaper than apple air tags but there are some differences you should be aware of so let's go ahead and dive into it in this video jumping in the chipolo one spot looks like all the other chipolo trackers that you may or may not have seen already in fact here is my ocean edition yeah these guys look uh pretty much the same they're the exact same size same shape same logo same everything but the ocean edition is a standard bluetooth tracker works across the board with android ios everything like that and has its own accompanying app that you can use in its own features whereas the chipolo one spot works with the find my network exclusively so to work with anything that works with find my so your iphone your ipad your mac all of that the chipolo one spot will show up in so of course that puts it on par with apple's own air tag so these guys are going to be very comparable in a lot of different ways by tying into the find my network they'll show in the find my app they can be discovered by other people so if either of these would be lost uh you left your keys in a restaurant or something they fell into the cushion and you're wondering where your keys are you go to look for them anytime anybody else with an iphone an ipad or a mac walks near where your air tag or your chipolo one spot happens to be dropped it's gonna automatically send that location to you so you can find them thanks to the army of apple devices that are out there there are so many of them which is what makes the find my network so robust for any of your devices whether it's the air tag the chipotle one spot your belkin headphones with find my built-in or your van move bike whatever has find my built-in will work with any of those guys so that i think is the most powerful part of the chipolo one spot versus the other chipolo devices or any other bluetooth devices that are out there on the market now there are some physical differences so the chipolo one spot actually fairly loud so it gets up to like 128 decibels i believe 120 decibels maybe which is definitely louder than the around 85 to 90 that i measured for air tag so the speaker on the chipolo one spot is louder it's also slightly larger than air tag as you can see just a little bit more a little bit more robust i think just because the plastic durable exterior i can take more of a beating versus the metal back of the air tag which mine is already getting scuffed up from being in a bag pocket for a few weeks they both have replaceable batteries so after time you can swap out the batteries put a new one in so you're gonna make sure all of your stuff is always working they aren't just disposable when the battery dies of course chipolo has a keyhole built in whereas airtag does not just as a little puck and you're going to have to go out and buy something whether it's apple's options you know they have a few different key rings that are out there there are plenty of third-party ones that have come we've seen a ton of announcements even if none of them have quite hit the market except for q um this is the spigen one just air tag case from spigen so a few of them have come to market but we're waiting on a lot of the other ones to finally make it the other big difference between the chipotle one spot and air tag is the inclusion of apple's u1 chip in ultra wideband finding so apple has its precision finding precision tracking feature using the finds my app so as you get closer it's able to precisely direct you to where your device is it knows the exact distance the heading everything you know to find your air tag the bluetooth in the chipolo one spot tracker but it's not nearly as precise as the ultra wide band is in the air tag so that precision tracking that's the biggest difference between these two that said once you're still in range you're still going to get close to it you're still going to know where it is you're still going to find it if it's lost and it has a louder speaker so it is easier to find so turn on the speaker a little bit easier to track it down now setup super easy with both of these now air tag one other feature i forgot to mention has nfc so if you put this into lost mode and anyone comes near whether it's an iphone or android and they tap their phone on it using nfc it'll alert you uh that they found it and they'll get instructions on what to do so you can put a message of contact me here's my phone number you can do that with air tag you can't do that with the chipolo one spot so something to take into consideration there as well uh when you're deciding between the two of these guys set up dead simple for the chipotle one spot thanks to the find my app so if we jump over to our iphone and we're going to go ahead and launch the find my app and when we do we're going to go to that items tag and you can see a few of my devices that are in here well maybe you can't because i had to blur things out because my address um but we're going to hit add new item which can give us a little prompt whether we're adding an air tag or other supported item in this case other supported item we're going to tap that and it's going to start searching then we're going to simply press right there in the center of the chipolo tag and that is going to start going into that bluetooth pairing mode and in just a moment boom we see it show up here on our iphone where we can assign a name and an emoji or icon to go along with it then it shows here in the find my app just like all of our other find my devices when you're looking at the chipolo one spot in the find my app you of course see its most recent location you can play that sound you can try to find it get notification when it's been found by yourself or anyone else with an apple device that supports it and you can put it into lost mode then you can rename it or remove the item there at the bottom so yeah the chipolo one spot i have been using this for a couple days now i didn't want to rush anything out and it is very comparable like in terms of finding stuff that you've left anywhere it's going to be the same as air tag it's that u1 chip i think that's the big difference between the two and whether or not that's worth it to go to the air tag this i do think is a little bit cheaper and i think these can be more you can pick up like a four pack for less money than the air tags so the price definitely comes down there and you don't have to buy any of the accessories because it has the key ring loop on there so you can attach it to a lot of bags that you already have without picking up anything extra i think that makes these a very enticing option and i just love the fact that they work with the find my app it works with the find my network and all these devices out there so i think this is what companies need to be doing is integrating with find my and working on different form factors and stuff that works great these first product out first uh item tracker that is released that works with find my so we're gonna see more i'm sure we're gonna see more from chipotle we're gonna see them from other companies just a matter of time if you guys want to grab one these guys retail for about 28 bucks a piece but there is an option to buy a four pack as well if you'd like to pick some more of them up they're up for pre-order now you can find the links as always down below in that description so go ahead and grab one if you'd like let me know what you think on twitter at andrew underscore osu do you think that the chipolo are an enticing option or you just straight up sticking with air tags i would love love love to hear you guys opinions so let me know and otherwise i'll catch you guys in the next video youwhat's up everybody welcome welcome welcome it is andrew here your host and today i'm going to be walking
