GoPro vs. Yi 4k vs. Akaso 4k

**The Best Action Cameras for Your Money**

When it comes to capturing high-quality footage, there are several action cameras on the market that offer impressive features and excellent image quality. In this article, we'll take a closer look at three popular options: the GoPro Hero 7 Black, the Yi 4K Plus, and the Acasio camera.

**Camera Compatibility and Features**

All three cameras are compatible with GoPro mounts, making it easy to attach them to your gear or helmet. They also offer time-lapse and slow-motion capabilities, which are perfect for capturing stunning footage of landscapes, sports, and other activities. The GoPro Hero 7 Black has a unique feature called hyperlapse, which allows you to walk through a scene and capture smooth, fast-paced footage.

**Battery Life**

One area where action cameras often fall short is battery life. If you're planning on using your camera for an extended period, it's essential to have spare batteries or a portable charger handy. The GoPro Hero 7 Black has around 70-75 minutes of recording time, while the Yi 4K Plus has slightly less at around 60 frames per second. However, these times can vary depending on the resolution and any additional features you're using.

**The Box: What's Included?**

When it comes to the box contents, GoPros tend to offer a comprehensive set of accessories, including a camera, battery, mounting frame, adhesive mounts, buckle, and USB-C cable. The Yi 4K Plus also includes these essentials, but with a slightly different configuration.

**Documentation and Accessories**

The GoPro's box is relatively well-organized, with clear instructions and documentation. The mount system is also quite extensive, offering multiple options for attaching the camera to your gear or helmet. In contrast, the Acasio camera's box was a bit of a mess, with accessories scattered everywhere. However, this may be due to the camera's smaller size.

**Specs: What Sets Each Camera Apart?**

When it comes to specs, each camera has its strengths and weaknesses. The GoPro Hero 7 Black features a 2-inch touchscreen display, can shoot at 4K resolution up to 60 frames per second, and has hyper-smooth stabilization. It also has GPS capabilities and can withstand depths of up to 33 feet without a case.

In comparison, the Yi 4K Plus has a slightly smaller screen (2.2 inches) but still offers excellent image quality and electronic image stabilization. The Acasio camera, on the other hand, has a 2-inch touchscreen display and also shoots at 4K resolution, but only up to 25 frames per second.

**The Verdict: Value for Money**

In our testing, we found that the Yi 4K Plus offered excellent value for money, despite its slightly lower resolution. For around $200, it includes a range of features similar to the GoPro Hero 7 Black, including time-lapse and slow-motion capabilities. The image quality is also impressive, if not quite on par with the top-of-the-line model.

The Acasio camera was a bit of a disappointment in our testing, but may still be worth considering for those looking for an affordable option without all the bells and whistles.

**Conclusion**

Choosing the right action camera can be overwhelming, especially when it comes to determining value for money. In this article, we've taken a closer look at three popular options: the GoPro Hero 7 Black, the Yi 4K Plus, and the Acasio camera. Ultimately, the best choice will depend on your specific needs and preferences.

If you're looking for top-of-the-line features and image quality, the GoPro Hero 7 Black is still an excellent option. However, if you're on a tighter budget or want to save some money, the Yi 4K Plus offers an impressive range of features at an affordable price point.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enyou want an action camera which basically means you want a GoPro but the top-of-the-line model is expensive so what do you do if you don't want to spend that much cash I found you two alternatives that don't cost anywhere near the top-of-the-line GoPro which is currently around $400 first up we have a very cheap contender it's around $75 this one is called the acaso EK 7000 fro no marks there for a catchy name then we have the e 4k plus action camera this one is around $200 now the reason I chose these two models was with the acaso this one is an amazon's choice the year 4k plus is an internet favorite and comes with very very favorable reviews and of course the gopro is the benchmark which we'll be using as kind of a yardstick to see how these two do let's start with image quality to me this is the most important part of an action camera so this is just a pretty plain image to get us started don't worry it will get more exciting soon but it just gives us an idea of what these are capable of so I took them out and I sat them all side by side and recorded at their maximum resolution and maximum frame rate on each so the acaso image is not my favorite definitely not the best image quality I've seen it's grainy it's noisy it doesn't have good sharpness but the sort of 25 frames a second looks okay now let's look at the gate this one is pretty comparable to the GoPro I have to say the colors are nice and punchy the movement at 60 frames a second is really smooth and you see a good level of sharpness there you don't get that grain or that noise that you see in the cheaper camera the GoPro is the benchmark and the colors look punchy the sharpness is also really good and the detail is kept nicely - especially in those areas like the leaves that are moving just a little bit and 60 frames a second looks beautiful we've been large the image so you can see the details more clearly but feel free to pause to check it out even more and don't forget a lot of this comes down to personal preference so what I like might be totally different to what you like now having an action camera really makes me reflect on my life kind of feel like when I do test out action cameras I feel a little bit like hello fellow rude kids that's that's basically me now we get to have some fun so I took these three to the aquarium of the bay in San Francisco and gave it to my friend Chris who did a bit of scuba diving underwater in a couple of exhibits we took them down and to see what they would produce at their highest resolution and this one is actually a bit of a surprising result so there is a special filter on the acaso that you can turn on in the venue's it's a diving mode straight out of the box using that setting there Casa image actually looks pretty good in terms of the colors when it comes to the noise the grain and all of that again I still don't think it's very nice to look at but if you don't want to adjust any settings at all and you know you are gonna be doing some underwater diving then maybe the accussed could be ok now onto the Yi this one looks pretty nice underwater it doesn't look as accurate as the colors from the acaso with that diving mode but I still think it's pretty good there's a little bit of noise on the image in parts because it is such low light under there but overall I think it does a pretty good job the GoPro is obviously the top of the line it just looks a lot nicer than the other two overall but particularly when you look at areas that are really dark and really bright the dynamic range is so much nicer underwater and the blacks are really black and deep after diving with them Chris came out of the water and said to me that the image from the back of the acaso on the screen looked the most accurate to what he was seeing underwater don't forget I turned on that diving filter that did give the image a little bit of a color treatment when I was playing back on the acaso it was kind of stuttering it was jumping a little bit and it just wasn't particularly smooth but when you take the footage off the camera and play it back on a computer it's tardily fine but anyway I needed to test out stabilization so I got on a bike and I just wanted to see what the image looked like so first up let's take a look at the GoPro and it's hyper smooth stabilization this is silky this is so nice to watch it honestly didn't feel like this stable when I was on the bike and this light there was just it looks incredible that's all I need to say to take a look at that beautiful now the Yi this has image stabilization at 30 frames a second of 4k unlike the GoPro which is at 60 frames a second and it just doesn't look as nice as the GoPro it's definitely not as smooth now we come to the acaso our little cheap warrior and wow this is absolutely horrendous I feel sick watching this I really don't want to subject you to too much of it because it's just really it's gonna make you throw up so this only does image stabilization at 1080 it doesn't do it at 4k so I don't know I don't think I would even bother using it for anything image stabilization at all when you lead an active life with your action camera you're probably gonna end up dropping it at some point so let's do a drop test outside I dropped the hue the acaso and the GoPro so the GoPro was totally fine the acaso still works but the screen started lifting a little and the entire front plate of the year came off when it fell on the ground but I put it back on and it still works ok when it comes to still image quality the acaso is what I would call hot garbage it's grainy it's noisy there's sharpness issues it's over crunchy it's just ugly and then we have the year and the GoPro by comparison which look a lot nicer the year is pretty sharp I like the colors but the GoPro definitely takes it here just because it has a couple more options including HDR which makes your images really pop and just gives a really nice result straight out of the box so when you're taking shots on your action camera you might be setting the camera up somewhere that's kind of little inconvenient and you can't see the back to see if you're actually getting everything in the shot so all of these cameras come with the ability to connect via Wi-Fi to your phone and you can use the phone as a live view remote just to make sure you have everything in the shot so you don't keep getting that awkward thing where you're putting your face right in the camera and saying is this thing on because you can actually check through Wi-Fi on your phone now all of these have a dedicated app they actually were surprisingly good I genuinely thought that I was gonna run into some real difficulties I know a couple of people have commented on the acaso having some sort of flaky connection with their phone especially on iOS I didn't have any problems at all maybe you will though so do let me know if you don't have the same experience that I did sound quality isn't normally one of the top features of an action camera and yeah I don't really have much good news to share with you on this front the acaso sounds like you're in a tin can the Yi it's fine when it's outside of the case but put it inside of a waterproof case it just sounds disgusting the GoPro is my pick for the best sound quality overall in short use an external microphone and sync it later if you have to so now we have the meat out of the way let's talk about the potatoes which is other features okay so all of these cameras are compatible with GoPro mounts which is great they all do time-lapse and slow motion the GoPro has this really nice hyperlapse feature you can walk through a scene and it just looks like it's on fast-forward smooth beautiful elegant love it action cameras are notorious for having terrible battery life so if you know you are gonna be doing a long day of filming definitely take a spare battery with you I did my own testing on all of these and have got about the same results which was pretty surprising so around 70 to 75 minutes of recording time each but of course your results will vary depending on the recording resolution if you've got Wi-Fi on and everything else you're doing with the cameras so what do you get for your cash in the box so let's take a look the GoPro you get the camera the battery a mounting frame and a screw adhesive mounts a buckle and a USBC cable with the year you get the camera a battery and a USB C and a microphone to USB see is that it yes yes it is that's it I genuinely had to look in the box to see if I have missed something but I didn't with the acaso well that's another story so let's let's take a look at what comes in the box looks like a pretty normal sized box okay here you go like it's literally a vomit of accessories look at this it's all just like thrown everywhere okay so we have some documentation we have a like a microfiber little mounting bricks we have a remote control that's pretty nice I really like this this is a battery charger that you can basically stick two batteries in and it comes with two batteries nicely done let's check the specs the camera I used in all of these comparisons is the hero 7 black which is currently the top-of-the-line GoPro although I by the time you watch this an end of 2019 maybe even 2020 there might be you GoPro out although I don't think too much is gonna change so the GoPro has a 2 inch touchscreen it is 4k at 60 frames a second has hyper smooth stabilization and could go to 33 feet underwater without a case or a hundred and 31 feet with a case and it has GPS now let's look at the acaso and the yi so the Yi has a 2.2 inch touch screen while the Acacio has a 2 inch touch screen they both are 4k although the Yi is 60 frames a second while the acaso is 25 they both have electronic image stabilization and neither are waterproof without a case with a case though they can go down to 131 feet and neither have GPS now it comes down to the time where I have to pick my choice this is really hard and I always had in many existential crises trying to work this one out so first up I can immediately discount this guy and it's just not not to my liking comes to the year and the GoPro Hero 7 and I'm gonna pick the value for money yi 4k plus action camera and I'm gonna pick this because of the price point it's $200 it gives you an incredible range of features just like the GoPro the image quality is excellent the still image quality is on par with the GoPro although not quite there and overall it's just a really good package the touch screen is really nice the battery life is good and the interface is also great so value for money is this just put a little extra into the budget to get some mounts and stuff but there you have it I've chosen my winner the year action camera 4k plus maybe the Amazon choice isn't necessarily the best option for you even though lots of people are buying it and it is highly reviewed I just didn't find that it lived up to the claims all of those reviews but if you have different thoughts about it do let me know maybe your experiences have been totally different and you just you don't need the image quality of a more expensive camera maybe that will suit your needs just fine you might be watching this and say um Lexi hi there are some GoPros that are also real GoPros that aren't the top-of-the-line black model yeah there's the silver there's the Y and all of that absolutely if you desperately want to go pro then get one of those models you will not be disappointed you just won't get all of the same features as the top-of-the-line model thank you so much for watching if you want to buy any of the products I've talked about today you can check out the links in the description below and come back in two weeks when I will be comparing fitness trackers the Fitbit versus the meat band for so come back and work out if you need to spend more all thisyou want an action camera which basically means you want a GoPro but the top-of-the-line model is expensive so what do you do if you don't want to
