complete but if AI is what you want this is a place where clearly right now the pixel is on top Google has been in the AI game for years they have a track record making device that can successfully utilize AI apple is new to this game and yeah the beta exists and that shows us Apple intelligence is going to be real start to say whether all the features Apple promised will in fact ship to the phone and with Gemini like I said you can generate photos Circle to search asked Gemini how to do device tasks like summarized emails these are all things Apple promised to bring in some way but it's just not here yet this particular versus video is my favorite one to make because these two flagships come out within weeks of each other and that almost never happens and when you look at the pixel 9 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro these phones are getting more and more similar and that makes picking a winner I think harder than ever and it would be easy to just get to the concl inclusion and be like pick the one that's best for you but I very clearly have a winner between these two really capable phones so like for Generations the biggest comparison point between these two phones has always like been the camera system and this year if you look at both cameras like with the rest of the phones these two systems are very similar on paper look at the photos though I think it's clear that these two cameras have vastly different philosophies of what a camera photo should look like and that is awesome I love that there's choice in the market for what style of camera that you like but let's just blind camera test things here so look at the blue of the sky look at the yellow of the lemons look at the red of the pomegranates look how it's handling skin tone look how it's handling just background and shadows can you tell me and let me know in the comments which one is a pixel9 pro which one was the iPhone 16 Pro so both of these phones are rocking three camera systems and they both have obviously like the strength and weaknesses uh the pixel 9 pro has a 50 megapix main camera 48 map Ultra wide and a 48 mapel 5 times telephoto 16 Pro 48 megap Main camera uh a Now new 48 megapix Ultra wide and just a 12 megapixel five times telephoto so the main camera sensors on both I think look really similar you can go back and forth and like the scenario which one you like best and the same goes for the ultra wide 2 but where there is a gigantic difference and a definitive difference is with the telephoto camera and I think this is not like subjective thing there's no debating it this is the biggest weak point in the iPhone camera system and the pixel blows it out of the water with detail so here are like a bunch of different options you can look again at the greens and the blues and you can see the difference when it comes to telephoto and I live in 5x telephoto is one of the most important determining factors for me to buy a phone my kids play sports my daughter's dancing I'm not always sitting right up close that is a very important thing to me now you might not care about t aoto this might not be an issue for you but I want the best quality photos at a 5x Zoom that I can and when you put like I'm doing right now 5x to 5x there's a very clear difference like I was saying aside from telephoto both of these camera systems produce very similar results I think what sets them apart as it has been the past couple years is on the processing side and the options on the pixel side I think are super fun uh add me is wild here's some examples of myself with my wife we did not take that picture together she started off with the chair and I added myself afterwards I had a blast with it I'm not going to use it every day probably forget about it after the first couple weeks it's just another thing that kind of makes the pixel camera at least to me feel a bit special but interestingly this year the iPhone's got a new trick up its sleeve it's called photographic style mode Let's see adjust the way the camera processes photos and apple kind of gloss over this quickly but I think it's a huge deal you can now make the iPhone photos look however you want including make them look like pixel photos for example here's a photo from the pixel 9 and here's a photo just default from the iPhone 16 Pro you can see a difference if I make a photograph graic style looks like the pixel here's the pixel photo here's the iPhone photo you can see how eily similar they are so in a way the iPhone camera can kind of imitate the camera on the pixel which I think can be a benefit if that's what you want and you get to video and I think the perception is that what you're getting on Android as a whole especially the pixel is not up to par with the iPhone actually uh I think what Google's done this year especially has been absolutely incredible for video and so of that sort of old kind of narration that video is not going to be as good I don't think is in play anymore uh in fact this camera uh is actually being shot with the Google pixel 99 Pro and I think it looks really good in fact using this to shoot video I think in a lot of ways you'd be hard pressed to see the difference and I'll talk about the differences in a second whole point here to say what Google's done with videos clearly take it more seriously and it is now incredibly usable with a caveat where you might see a difference is when you upload video to third party social media apps so you're uploading to Tik Tok or Instagram or anything else you're not always going to see the same quality video developers there are trying to make their app work with a ton of different Android phones supposed to just a few iPhones it's kind of the downside of having so much choice in the Android world but even then even on Tik Tok or Instagram the video still looks really good but it might not look as good as the iPhone on the iPhone though you do get more flexibility for anyone looking to take video more professionally you can record in prores and log which gives you really awesome quality editing capabilities but if you are a content creator and you use your phone for content for living as good as the camera is on the pixel 9 pro and pro XL and it is really good the camera on the 16 pro and pro Max still really hard to beat but if you don't ever plan to edit your video and you care about is having sort of usable very good-looking video to share with family and friends you will not be disappointed with the pixel9 Pro Camera whatever phone I have in my pocket uh I have been squared off design uh that we've seen for years on the iPhone so going all the way back to the iPhone 12 it's a design that I really really like uh in fact as I was taking the phone out of the box I was so impressed with the first impressions well let me tell you so I am setting up the pixel 9 Pro XL like literally just out of the box this is my first time holding it feeling it I expected probably everybody else right it looks like the pixel 8 really the pixel 7 Pro before I expected it to feel like the 8 Pro did I am shocked at how good this phone feels in the hand everything about it feels premium from the weight to the clickiness of the buttons just everything about this screams flag chip this is one of the best feeling phones uh that I have ever felt and I've I've held a lot of phones over the years I mean like literally right out of the box Impressions like like here's the here's the box and stuff is still copying over I was just I was Jarred by it usually I'm not that impressed by phones out of the box y all kind of feel the same but sometimes you get one that just feels shocking and maybe cuz I was wasn't expecting it but I well done Google so all this feels new on the pixel the iPhone design I don't want to even say starting it feel dated it is dated it's overall it's good and it works when you see it year after year it's to not want something new and different but design is not kind of a make or break feature at least I don't think it is it's all about what the hardware and the experience gets you so on the screen side this the pros both have 6.3in OLED displays the 16 Pro can go all the way down to 1 knit of brightness all the way up to 2,000 Outdoors the pixel can go all the way up to 3,000 nits of brightness so if you use your phone outside a lot the pixel will definitely Edge out the iPhone I've loved the iPhone display for years I may display snob I think what Apple's done with Samsung's hardware and their own tweaking has been unbelievable I think that the quality of the display in the pixel 9 Pro is on par with what you have from Apple so that is to say it is amongst the best displays out there the only caveats might be how it handles some colors obviously going Outdoors you're going to want the higher nits but I think display to display it is a tie and both these are absolutely incredible it's is really the first year I can say that confidently uh with the pixel 9 Pro so other things with hardware and this is 100% in the weeds and probably matters to like eight people out there but as I was setting up the pixel I was looking at migration from an iPhone so first the restore and backup on any Android is not great maybe it's okay going from the same manufacturer to the same manufacturer uh but I had to keep my iPhone and my pixel both connected via USBC cord the pixel was straight out of the box and the iPhone was like early evening since my iPhone was at like 50% and it took a really long time to transfer fact never actually finished it just hung at 99% and it took so long I had to start worrying about battery life because both didn't have much left uh so with the USBC ports taken I figured I could wirelessly charge them this is something I never thought I'd ever end up testing just so you know cuz I learned it uh only the pixel wirelessly charge while plugged in the iPhone could not like I said veryy in the weeds but if you care about it I thought it was worth knowing and I know it's like a tradition now but I will never get behind having the power button on top of the volume rocker on the pixel ever it's probably muscle memory and probably the minority but please reverse it but AI is sort of part of the software and although it's a big part iOS 18 the iPhone is more like Android like than ever letting you rearrange icons freaking finally anywhere you want and just to get spicy and crazy even change the color of the icons now granted this has obviously been an Android staple since like the beginning but has also a breath of fresh air for iPhone users the iPhone now has RCS you can get very imethod like experience with non iones I think the gap between these two phones especially on the software side has really shrunk down I think it probably comes down to how much AI means to you and how much you believe Apple can deliver on what they promise now if Apple intelligence comes out maybe over the next five or six iOS uh updates and again we'll revisit this it could potentially be really good if they deliver on those promises things like gen mooji image generation summarizing what's on your screen there is a lot of potential for Apple intelligence and I am very excited about it but all that's there right now is potential Apple selling these phones marketing these phones actively with apple intelligence that does not exist right now and when it's all out maybe it becomes a moot point but if you're looking to buy one of these phones right now uh Google changed the design of the pixel this year gave it more of a squared off design uh that we've seen for years on the iPhone so going all the way back to the iPhone 12 it's a design that I really really like uh in fact as I was taking the phone out of the box I was so impressed with the first impressions well let me tell you so I am setting up the pixel 9 Pro XL like literally just out of the box this is my first time holding it feeling it I expected probably everybody else right it looks like the pixel 8 really the pixel 7 Pro before I expected it to feel like the 8 Pro did I am shocked at how good this phone feels in the hand everything about it feels premium from the weight to the clickiness of the buttons just everything about this screams flag chip this is one of the best feeling phones uh that I have ever felt and I've I've held a lot of phones over the years I mean like literally right out of the box Impressions like like here's the here's the box and stuff is still copying over I was just I was Jarred by it usually I'm not that impressed by phones out of the box y all kind of feel the same but sometimes you get one that just feels shocking and maybe cuz I was wasn't expecting it but I well done Google so all this feels new on the pixel the iPhone design I don't want to even say starting it feel dated it is dated it's overall it's good and it works when you see it year after year it's to not want something new and different but design is not kind of a make or break feature at least I don't think it is it's all about what the hardware and the experience gets you so on the screen side this the pros both have 6.3in OLED displays the 16 Pro can go all the way down to 1 knit of brightness all the way up to 2,000 Outdoors the pixel can go all the way up to 3,000 nits of brightness so if you use your phone outside a lot the pixel will definitely Edge out the iPhone I've loved the iPhone display for years I may display snob I think what Apple's done with Samsung's hardware and their own tweaking has been unbelievable I think that the quality of the display in the pixel 9 Pro is on par with what you have from Apple so that is to say it is amongst the best displays out there the only caveats might be how it handles some colors obviously going Outdoors you're going to want the higher nits but I think display to display it is a tie and both these are absolutely incredible it's is really the first year I can say that confidently uh with the pixel 9 Pro so other things with hardware and this is 100% in the weeds and probably matters to like eight people out there but as I was setting up the pixel I was looking at migration from an iPhone so first the restore and backup on any Android is not great maybe it's okay going from the same manufacturer to the same manufacturer uh but I had to keep my iPhone and my pixel both connected via USBC cord the pixel was straight out of the box and the iPhone was like early evening since my iPhone was at like 50% and it took a really long time to transfer fact never actually finished it just hung at 99% and it took so long I had to start worrying about battery life because both didn't have much left uh so with the USBC ports taken I figured I could wirelessly charge them this is something I never thought I'd ever end up testing just so you know cuz I learned it uh only the pixel wirelessly charge while plugged in the iPhone could not like I said veryy in the weeds but if you care about it I thought it was worth knowing and I know it's like a tradition now but I will never get behind having the power button on top of the volume rocker on the pixel ever it's probably muscle memory and probably the minority but please reverse it but AI is sort of part of the software and although it's a big part iOS 18 the iPhone is more like Android like than ever letting you rearrange icons freaking finally anywhere you want and just to get spicy and crazy even change the color of the icons now granted this has obviously been an Android staple since like the beginning but has also a breath of fresh air for iPhone users the iPhone now has RCS you can get very imethod like experience with non iones I think the gap between these two phones especially on the software side has really shrunk down I think it probably comes down to how much AI means to you and how much you believe Apple can deliver on what they promise now if Apple intelligence comes out maybe over the next five or six iOS uh updates and again we'll revisit this it could potentially be really good if they deliver on those promises things like gen mooji image generation summarizing what's on your screen there is a lot of potential for Apple intelligence and I am very excited about it but all that's there right now is potential Apple selling these phones marketing these phones actively with apple intelligence that does not exist right now and when it's all out maybe it becomes a moot point but if you're looking to buy one of these phones right now this is one of the first time in years I can 100% recommend the pixel9 pro or if you want the bigger one the pixel 9 Pro XL I love the feel of the phone I love the cameras on this phone I really am starting to love the software on this phone and I found myself changing my perception of AI if not just a gimmick that's something that I will actually use the more time I spent with it if you are ins sconed in the Apple ecosystem I get it you're probably not going to switch but if you are on the fence maybe you have a foot out of the Walled Garden you should 100% check out what Google's done I think they nailed this one and this is really close to being the perfect phone\n"
