Effortless One-Pan Sausage and Peppers with Broccoli Skillet

Getting Started with Easy Country Cooking: A One-Pan Sausage and Peppers Skillet Recipe

Hey guys, Dave here from Easy Country Cooking, and welcome back to my channel! Today, I'm excited to share with you one of my favorite recipes that's sure to become a staple in your kitchen - the one-pan sausage and peppers skillet. It's incredibly easy to make, and the flavors are absolutely fantastic. So, let's get started!

First things first, we're going to need some ingredients. I've got about five Italian sausages here, which are hot ones, but feel free to use whatever type of sausage you like. You don't have to stick with Italian, honey garlic, or even something a bit more adventurous - the beauty of this recipe is that you can customize it to your taste. For the peppers, I'm using red and yellow bell peppers today, but you can mix and match different colors to keep things interesting. We'll also need some chopped onion, garlic, tomato paste, chicken broth, tomato sauce, salt, black pepper, and of course, plenty of cheese for that perfect melty top.

Now that we have our ingredients, let's get cooking! Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). While that's heating up, slice the sausages into thin rounds. You want them nice and flat so they cook evenly in the pan. Next, heat about a tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced sausages and cook until they're nicely browned on both sides - this should take about 6-7 minutes, depending on how thick your slices are.

Once the sausages are cooked, remove them from the pan and set them aside for now. You can do this by placing them on a plate or tray to keep warm while you finish cooking the rest of the ingredients. Now it's time to add some chopped onion to the pan. Yes, it's a bit unconventional to cook onions before adding everything else, but trust me when I say that it brings out the natural sweetness in the onions and enhances the overall flavor of the dish.

While the onion is sautéing, chop up those peppers into thin strips as well. You want them to be nice and thin so they cook evenly with the sausage. Add another tablespoon of olive oil to the pan if you need to - we don't want anything sticking around! Once the onion has softened and turned translucent, add in your chopped garlic (about three cloves should do the trick). Stir that mixture around for a couple of minutes until the aroma becomes almost overwhelming.

Now it's time to bring everything together. Add those cooked sausages back into the pan along with the chopped peppers, tomato paste, chicken broth, and tomato sauce. Stir all these ingredients together until they're well combined and heated through. If using Italian seasoning, add a couple of teaspoons in there now - I just love that stuff! Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

As we continue to cook everything together, our kitchen will start to fill with an incredible aroma that's sure to make everyone's stomach growl with anticipation. Once everything is well combined, stir in those cooked rice noodles (about two cups should be enough). The beauty of this recipe is that it uses pre-cooked rice noodles - yes, you read that right! Just grab a bag of pre-cooked rice noodles and toss them into the skillet towards the end of cooking.

We're getting close now! If you're feeling generous, add another sprinkle of cheese (I like a blend of mozzarella, cheddar, and parmesan) on top. That's all we need to bring this dish home. Now, let's transfer everything from the pan to a serving dish or individual plates.

Tasting Time!

Let's take a moment to admire our handiwork! The first thing you'll notice is how beautiful the colors are - vibrant peppers against a rich sausage background, with that gorgeous golden cheese on top. But it's not just about looks; when you take your very first bite, everything comes together in perfect harmony. That savory sausage flavor pairs beautifully with the sweetness of those peppers and onions. And let’s be honest, who doesn’t love cheese?

That’s what makes this one-pan sausage and peppers skillet recipe so special - it's easy to make, packs a lot of flavor, and is ready in under 30 minutes!
