The Electric Charging Port Cover
As I was about to say "fuel filler cap" for a moment, but the charging port cover that goes up over the side there obviously this will be trimmed around the wheel arch and so forth but the green is looking wonderful. I am very very relieved to have this back in one piece it's been bugging me for quite a while but crucial as I said earlier to make sure the paint underneath has had the time to harden up properly for the future and that we don't get any further issues with it back to full glory.
But, crucial as this is, it's not the only thing that needs attention. The car, which is a GT4, has a fairly budget paint protection film job. It has front-end PPF so the bonnet, the bumper, the wings, also the mirror caps as well but nothing else behind the A-pillars. But, it's far from the best and that is an understatement. I knew about this before collecting the car and the intention was always to pull the film away, but let me just pick out a couple of things that you should always look for in terms of a bad PPF job.
Starting right there on the mirror cap where you can see that the film has basically been overstretched and pulled back leaving some of the glue residue around the sides. It is exactly the same on the other side, maybe it was even hand-trimmed or something later. So, hopefully, that's going to be fine. It does seem to come off fairly easily if we come to the fuel filler cap just here and open this up you can see that this is well not really attached properly around the edge and again just finished really badly coming further around look here that's lifting around the outside of the headlight inside there that is really not trimmed very well. I'm not sure quite how much you can see inside the gap but it's pretty bad and it just goes on and on and on.
Now, there are a few other things to replace as I said these, there's also a bit of marking here just on the paint protection film so that needs to be done but this is pretty much. I would say one of the worst PPF jobs I've ever seen and obviously I've seen quite a lot but this is why you get it done properly so we're going to have to take all of that off and I think that will be in the next update so when I come in, we'll take off the PPF and then start with some of the purple transformation.
Although you could go over the top of the PPF and it would stay on when you then take off the vinyl later this is so bad it's just not even worth it. It's not worth having if you like attention to detail because that's not great one car out, and the other ready to go inside. Then but the Thai can is looking magnificent they've also given it a quick run-over with quick detailer to bring out that midnight green. The lift is off at the moment for just driving down the driveway but this color look at that like a metallic British racing green absolutely awesome.
Green and gold is a proper winning combination, and the front thankfully now finished up with all of the gold pin stripes as well exactly as it needed to be I have missed this looking correct. It is so much better than it was before, it's a funny thing how much of a difference that actually makes but this has turned out really really well, and I can't wait to have the Thai can with the finished GT4 together in not very long. But first up will be an update to come removing the PPF hopefully with all being fine underneath and then getting started with the inner tech midnight purple to do the transformation on this.
With the wing risers from RSNV as well to match with the wheels, and a few more gold subtle details to come around it too. For now though, a big thanks to the guys here at Dub Customs great to come and have a sneak peek at their new setup. A lot still to be done of course, but big things in the works and some very exciting stuff around here that you hope you're going to see before too long as well. For now though, an update in a couple of days back with the GT4 as the transformation it's underway.
Don't forget to check out all of the new items as well in the Cheers by Ximen50 store, the link to those is down below for now though we're gonna hop in the Thai can head back home be back again very soon so thanks for watching guys appreciate your support a lot that's it for this time though and I'll see you again very soon cheers.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi guys i'm shmee hello and welcome back to the channel will you join me for a bit of a porsche day a very busy but exciting one ahead as we're going to be going with both the gt4 and the tai can over to the new dub customs we can check out their new place and get started on the wrap for my 718 cayman gt4 now i've been talking about it since i collected this car having already now driven it over a thousand miles it is about time to get it over there to reveal the color that i have chosen and how these are going to look together plus some other details to share with you today but crucially we're also finally going to be stopping the tycan from having this funny jewel tone look we need to get the midnight green back on the front of that car so we're heading on the way via my porsche dealer porsche center hatfield we'll top up a bit of charge on the thai can collect some things along the way and then get over to doug customs where i can show you the color that my gt4 is going to be transforming into i tell you what though this is pretty cool to have three of the schmiema beals parked side by side here in the garage at home where i currently rent the space that the g63 is in the two porsches are just temporary but i'm trying to arrange those with the building management because it'd be awesome to be able to have all three together the only problem is that modern cars are quite large compared to the size of these spaces when you look at the tycan and the g wagon and try and squeeze them all in that's a bit of a challenge right hand drive on the tie can but it's doable that's a little bit more of a challenge but you can still just about manage it that at the moment is totally impossible in fact to be able to climb into the g63 which is part right up to the wall i would have to move the gt4 first anyway today we are taking both of these out we will come back later with just the tie can i have both of the keys here which are slightly different the taikan key is ever so slightly larger you've got the same buttons though but also because this spec is very very high it wasn't spec by me remember i bought a car that was available this key is also leather wrapped that's a porsche exclusive manufacturer option but we're going to be finally getting this sorted out after what happened to it on this corner when it was parked in the space that the g63 is in at the moment it went to acting coach works they fixed it up we've left it for a little bit of a while to settle down before we wrap it because if you then remove the wrap later on when you've applied it over freshly painted paint it makes a bit of a problem we also have the new carbon fiber piece down at the bottom so we need to add some of those gold pinstripes and believe me this when i show you later what the plans are for us is going to look really cool especially side by side with the tai can two very different porsches anyway we need to get both of these out we need to get on the road we need to take them over to dub customs so let's get cracking on we're not actually too low on power at the moment we've got 74 but by the time we've got to dub customs that would be down to around i guess 50 percent so we do want to do a quick top-up so it's got enough charge basically to bring it back home again without having to charge it anywhere along the way here in the garage lift system up silent running it's also nice i've just taken the gt4 up so that is waiting for us to head on out on the rear wheel steering i've said it before does make that kind of thing very very easy to get a car despite being over five meters long out of the garage but here we are then gt4 is ready and waiting so let's go we're cruising along then gt4 on the drive by that thing looks very cool in the white and gold but believe me it is going to look even cooler with what we're doing to it the new gt4 is just slightly more curvy than the older one when it comes to things like the end plates of the wing and talking wing something's changing about that as well which i need to show you a little bit later on which is going to be cool an extra special little detail i just find it fascinating how different these cars are anyway traffic isn't too bad thankfully so making good progress out to porsche hatfield well this has gone a bit wrong we're on our way out of town and the road is closed for a car on fire like literally on fire like there's burning car um well i hope everyone's okay they look like they had all managed to get out recalculating we will take a different route we've taken a bit of a diversion and found ourselves behind a fire engine and i think we know where that is going although it needs to be going in the opposite direction nonetheless out onto the main road is always fun in fact i'm gonna take it easy because i want to get oh wow we can see the smoke behind that's crazy there we go that's cool but i maybe think it's time to think about it also i've got the back window down as well whoops my bad what's actually been quite nice about this journey which has been a significant change from the norm recently is that it's not really been very busy i've got used to sitting in traffic jams everywhere we've wanted to go at any point in the last couple of weeks and today has been nice smooth sailing and pretty easy overall and we are now arriving at the porsche dealer where as i said we will plug this in because all porsche dealers now have the charging infrastructure and network well they are the habits or they're about to have it um where you can swing by and just get a quick top off so that is very much gonna help out we're at 63 percent now we're yet to get the dub so it would actually be more like 40 by the time we get to dub we're here then at the chargers gt4 over there let's get this plugged in very quickly you need the porsche tycan charging card which i do have on me at the moment but grab this he says does it just pull straight out first time i've done this at a porsche dealer actually um and we still have that problem which i need to fix opening the flap i wish there was an easier solution to that and i wish even here there was an easier solution to being able to plug this in because it needs a bit of a twist to get it in but at least it doesn't drag across the car which i'm slightly worried is scratching up here because of how many times i've had bits leaning across anyway let me grab my card um get this started to start present your charge card he says hopefully i have it somewhere here here we go porsche tycan charge card where do i tap here go present your card authentication in progress preparing good we're on a roll we'll get started and let's see how fast it's going to be in just a moment well the great news is that this is charged very very effectively it is always good to have a positive experience the charging rate is slowing down as it gets fuller we've got 25 percent of charge though in about 15 minutes while i've been talking to the guys and i'm gonna stop charging that's all we need to do for today just enough of a up to make sure that we're good to continue with this journey just make sure this is properly released there we go that will close itself i'll pop this back in here nicely illuminated done right let's get on the road over to dub customs yes there we go the next stop then is to the new dub customs so for the last five or six years or so they've been in the same place before that in their first setup was where we did my audi r8 spyder mclaren twill c morgan three-wheeler then there have been a whole load of shame mobiles that they've wrapped in the previous venue including this car but this is actually my first ever time visiting their new place so i'm very proud of the guys they've moved into their dream set up they're working hard on it obviously a big deal moving that kind of business to take everything with you and very disruptive to the workflow but i'm very excited to get there to have the gt4 as the first car to go through their new shop i think probably now my 10th or maybe 11th or something like that car that's been wrapped by dub customs over the last nine years something like that time is flying by but they always do a fantastic job really nice guys i love supporting what they get up to and yeah today we're gonna go see what the new place is like head inside for the first time and get both these cars through finish this off today hopefully so we can get it back for the journey home later on and get started with the gt4 ready for what's coming next this is a little bit different to before and there are some very significant and exciting moves here for the dub customs team i can't show you everything but let's have a quick look so the entrance way is behind where the gt4 is parked down there you have the reception area up ahead of me are a number of different workshops and things that are being built and doing a project of my own at the moment i am right in tune with the idea of the vision to try and think about what can come in the future alongside here is a space that's going to be used for a new workshop that is very soon to be assembled and placed the tycan is at the moment inside the workshop just here we'll come on round but we have some of the material to take a look at as well but we've just pulled it inside everything being built up at the moment which is something i'm very shortly to be doing myself we've popped it up a little bit raised at the front to have some access to the bumper and the wing in order to be able to do the vinyl and inside here from inositec we have the new role for the gt4 which i'm going to show you very shortly exactly what color that is you know the tech film here in the midnight green which is the color of the titan is what we need to be using to finish this off and bring it back to its former glory to make it look correct again it has been a little bit of an odd one we do need to take off the plate and the number plate plinth you can see even the plinth is actually wrapped in the midnight green but what it is like this the quality of this material for a vinyl wrap is absolutely extraordinary honestly it's very very close to the painted finish really really impressive for this kind of thing so i'm going to show you this in a sec we'll get the gt4 ready bring it up this way as well but very soon this will be back to green this is one of the last times then that we're going to see the car in the white and gold but the gold with the new color is going to continue beyond just the wheels so like the thai can we have the aurum gold wheels with the yellow calipers but we're going to be doing something involving the rear wing something that i've got actually inside the car to show you in a second but this is going to look really good i think it's time then to have a look at what we've got inside this box currently balanced perched on the rear wing but let me open up then and reveal the inositec premium wrapping film for the 718 cayman gt4 have a look at this midnight purple a stunning color a very very dark purple much darker than the 675 lt's paint but this is actually the same color my friend mundy had on his amg gtr pro looks stunning and i have no doubt that on this it's going to suit the curves of the car very very well then to complement that let's come around towards the front very quickly because there's something else on this as well i've got both keys here this one inside here firstly oh firstly we've got this bag which actually has some new front pieces to replace these these are a bit stone chipped and peppered from previous driving so that replaces those and then in this box from rsnv they have very kindly sent me some extra pieces they're going to really finish this off inside here the wing rises in the same color so the same aurum gold as the wheels to contrast against the purple and in fact let's come through very quickly because i think these against this purple yes that's a good combo so just like with the tycan the dark color with some accents this is going to be mega and we'll finish it off as well in a similar way with some other touches so a big thanks to inositec for providing the midnight purple material into rsnv because these this is gonna look so cool it is go time with the midnight green we've got the back rolls vinyl here the car as you can see behind is prepped masked up the surfaces have been cleaned and ready for the application of the piece which has been obviously cut to size that will go around the entirety of the front and then take a fair amount of work to basically maneuver it all into place to make sure it sits down correctly but this is a really nice color i mean we know that from the car can't wait to have it back looking finished again i need to show you quickly how good this color looks when it's out in the sunshine how much the purple pops because when you see it like this in the cardboard box wrap tightly on the roll in the shadows you don't quite get a full effect of what it's gonna look like on the car and it also has the clear capping film the protective material over the top of the purple which gets removed as part of the installation process but i've just cut off a sliver of the end and taken off the film and have a look at this out in the sunshine that color is stunning midnight purple is going to look awesome with the gold accents on the gt4 it's very reminiscent actually of my first ever car that i wrapped about nine years ago the audi r8 spider with dub customs in their first venue back at the time and it's gonna match really nicely with the tycan as well so i chose the midnight green the same type of material originally for the tai can as effectively my perfect choice for the car innes attack actually reached out after that and even after i had chosen that midnight purple was what i was going to do for this car and they very kindly hooked me up with the material that we're now using so big thanks to them for that because i cannot wait to see the finished result of this it's going to look immense when this is all said and done this color with the gold i i can't wait this is going to look so cool given it is quite the porsche day let me show you a couple of things from the cheers by shmee 150 store including the gt4 poster we've got plenty of gt3 designs the new 992 we've got the different generations of the wings we've also got this i particularly like this the different one and dot two generations of the gt3s we've got the gt4 design a carrera gt design and plenty more t-shirts hoodies posters and all sorts in the cheers fashion 150 store so check that out if you haven't already solid progress by the guys here on the front bumper starting to take shape all pretty much trimmed out and looking the part and then it will be on to this wing panel to have this car fully green for the finishing touches of those gold accents but stay tuned because there's more to come with what's going on with this and how the tycan looks in the future some nice progress with this of course working around the electric charging i was going to say fuel filler cap for a moment but the charging port cover that goes up over the side there obviously this will be trimmed around the wheel arch and so forth but the green is looking wonderful i am very very relieved to have this back in one piece it's been bugging me for quite a while but crucial as i said earlier to make sure the paint underneath has had the time to harden up properly for the future and that we don't get any further issues with it back to full glory but i can this car is going to need quite some preparation and i will explain why this is fairly amusing as i'm about to show you so inside the guys are just finishing off the gold pinstripes on the front splitters to get those completed ready to depart but this car um it's quite a story now you might remember when i collected the gt4 i talked about how it has a fairly budget paint protection film job it has front-end ppf so the bonnet the bumper the wings also the mirror caps as well but nothing else behind the a-pillars but it's far from the best and that is an understatement it is actually pretty awful to be honest i knew about this before collecting the car and the intention was always to pull the film away but let me just pick out a couple of things that you should always look for in terms of a bad ppf job starting right there on the mirror cap where you can see that the film has basically been overstretched and pulled back leaving some of the glue residue around the sides it is exactly the same on the other side and maybe it was even hand trimmed or something later so hopefully that's going to be fine it does seem to come off fairly easily if we come to the fuel filler cap just here and open this up you can see that this is well not really attached properly around the edge and again just finished really really badly coming further around look here that's lifting around the outside of the headlight inside there that is really not trimmed very well i'm not sure quite how much you can see inside the gap but it's pretty bad and it just goes on and on and on now there are a few other things to replace as i said these there's also a bit of marking here just on the paint protection film so that needs to be done but this is pretty much i would say one of the worst ppf jobs i've ever seen and obviously i've seen quite a lot but this is why you get it done properly so we're gonna have to take all of that off and i think that will be in the next update so when i come in we'll take off the ppf and then start with some of the purple transformation but although you could go over the top of the ppf and it would stay on when you then take off the vinyl later this is so bad it's just not even worth it it's not worth having if you like attention to detail because that's not great one car out and the other ready to go inside then but the thai can is looking magnificent they've also given it a quick run over with quick detailer to bring out that midnight green the lift is off at the moment for just driving down the driveway but this color look at that like a metallic british racing green absolutely awesome green and gold is a proper winning combination and the front thankfully now finished up with all of the gold pin stripes as well exactly as it needed to be i have missed this looking correct it is so much better it's a funny thing how much of a difference that actually makes but this has turned out really really well and i can't wait to have the tai can with the finished gt4 together in not very long but first up will be an update to come removing the ppf hopefully with all being fine underneath and then getting started with the inner tech midnight purple to do the transformation on this with the wing risers from rsnv as well to match with the wheels and a few more gold subtle details to come around it too for now though a big thanks to the guys here at dub customs great to come and have a sneak peek at their new setup a lot still to be done of course big things in the works and some very exciting stuff around here that you hope you're going to see before too long as well for now though an update in a couple of days back with the gt4 as the transformation it's underway to make it midnight purple don't forget to check out all of the new items as well in the cheers by ximen50 store the link to those is down below for now though we're gonna hop in the taikan head back home be back again very soon so thanks for watching guys appreciate your support an awful lot that's it for this time though and i'll see you again very soon cheers youhi guys i'm shmee hello and welcome back to the channel will you join me for a bit of a porsche day a very busy but exciting one ahead as we're going to be going with both the gt4 and the tai can over to the new dub customs we can check out their new place and get started on the wrap for my 718 cayman gt4 now i've been different workshops and things that are being built and doing a project of my own at the moment i am right in tune with the idea of the vision to try and think about what can come in the future alongside here is a space that's going to be used for a new workshop that is very soon to be assembled and placed the tycan is at the moment inside the workshop just here we'll come on round but we have some of the material to take a look at as well but we've just pulled it inside everything being built up at the moment which is something i'm very shortly to be doing myself we've popped it up a purple a stunning color a very very dark purple much darker than the 675 lt's paint but this is actually the same color my friend mundy had on his amg gtr pro looks stunning and i have no doubt that on this it's going to suit the curves of the car very very well then to complement that let's come around towards the front very quickly because there's something else on this as well i've got both keys here this one inside here firstly oh firstly we've got this bag which actually has some new front pieces to replace these these are a bit stone chipped and peppered from previous driving so that replaces those and then in this box from rsnv they have very kindly sent me some extra pieces they're going to really finish this off inside here the wing rises in the same color so the same aurum gold as the wheels to contrast against the purple and in fact let's come through very quickly because i think these against this purple yes that's a good combo so just like with the tycan the dark color with some accents this is going to be mega and we'll finish it off as well in a similar way with some other touches so a big thanks to inositec for providing the midnight purple material into rsnv because these this is gonna look so cool it is go time with the midnight green we've got the back rolls vinyl here the car as you can see behind is prepped masked up the surfaces have been cleaned and ready for the application of the piece which has been obviously cut to size that will go around the entirety of the front and then take a fair amount of work to basically maneuver it all into place to make sure it sits down correctly but this is a really nice color i mean we know that from the car can't wait to have it back looking finished again i need to show you quickly how good this color looks when it's out in the sunshine how much the purple pops because when you see it like this in the cardboard box wrap tightly on the roll in the shadows you don't quite get a full effect of what it's gonna look like on the car and it also has the clear capping film the protective material over the top of the purple which gets removed as part of the installation process but i've just cut off a sliver of the end and taken off the film and have a look at this out in the sunshine that color is stunning midnight purple is going to look awesome with the gold accents on the gt4 it's very reminiscent actually of my first ever car that i wrapped about nine years ago the audi r8 spider with dub customs in their first venue back at the time and it's gonna match really nicely with the tycan as well so i chose the midnight green the same type of material originally for the tai can as effectively my perfect choice for the car innes attack actually reached out after that and even after i had chosen that midnight purple was what i was going to do for this car and they very kindly hooked me up with the material that we're now using so big thanks to them for that because i cannot wait to see the finished result of this it's going to look immense when this is all said and done this color with the gold i i can't wait this is going to look so cool given it is quite the porsche day let me show you a couple of things from the cheers by shmee 150 store including the gt4 poster we've got plenty of gt3 designs the new 992 we've got the different generations of the wings we've also got this i particularly like this the different one and dot two generations of the gt3s we've got the gt4 design a carrera gt design and plenty more t-shirts hoodies posters and all sorts in the cheers fashion 150 store so check that out if you haven't already solid progress by the guys here on the front bumper starting to take shape all pretty much trimmed out and looking the part and then it will be on to this wing panel to have this car fully green for the finishing touches of those gold accents but stay tuned because there's more to come with what's going on with this and how the tycan looks in the future some nice progress with this of course working around the electric charging i was going to say fuel filler cap for a moment but the charging port cover that goes up over the side there obviously this will be trimmed around the wheel arch and so forth but the green is looking wonderful i am very very relieved to have this back in one piece it's been bugging me for quite a while but crucial as i said earlier to make sure the paint underneath has had the time to harden up properly for the future and that we don't get any further issues with it back to full glory but i can this car is going to need quite some preparation and i will explain why this is fairly amusing as i'm about to show you so inside the guys are just finishing off the gold pinstripes on the front splitters to get those completed ready to depart but this car um it's quite a story now you might remember when i collected the gt4 i talked about how it has a fairly budget paint protection film job it has front-end ppf so the bonnet the bumper the wings also the mirror caps as well but nothing else behind the a-pillars but it's far from the best and that is an understatement it is actually pretty awful to be honest i knew about this before collecting the car and the intention was always to pull the film away but let me just pick out a couple of things that you should always look for in terms of a bad ppf job starting right there on the mirror cap where you can see that the film has basically been overstretched and pulled back leaving some of the glue residue around the sides it is exactly the same on the other side and maybe it was even hand trimmed or something later so hopefully that's going to be fine it does seem to come off fairly easily if we come to the fuel filler cap just here and open this up you can see that this is well not really attached properly around the edge and again just finished really really badly coming further around look here that's lifting around the outside of the headlight inside there that is really not trimmed very well i'm not sure quite how much you can see inside the gap but it's pretty bad and it just goes on and on and on now there are a few other things to replace as i said these there's also a bit of marking here just on the paint protection film so that needs to be done but this is pretty much i would say one of the worst ppf jobs i've ever seen and obviously i've seen quite a lot but this is why you get it done properly so we're gonna have to take all of that off and i think that will be in the next update so when i come in we'll take off the ppf and then start with some of the purple transformation but although you could go over the top of the ppf and it would stay on when you then take off the vinyl later this is so bad it's just not even worth it it's not worth having if you like attention to detail because that's not great one car out and the other ready to go inside then but the thai can is looking magnificent they've also given it a quick run over with quick detailer to bring out that midnight green the lift is off at the moment for just driving down the driveway but this color look at that like a metallic british racing green absolutely awesome green and gold is a proper winning combination and the front thankfully now finished up with all of the gold pin stripes as well exactly as it needed to be i have missed this looking correct it is so much better it's a funny thing how much of a difference that actually makes but this has turned out really really well and i can't wait to have the tai can with the finished gt4 together in not very long but first up will be an update to come removing the ppf hopefully with all being fine underneath and then getting started with the inner tech midnight purple to do the transformation on this with the wing risers from rsnv as well to match with the wheels and a few more gold subtle details to come around it too for now though a big thanks to the guys here at dub customs great to come and have a sneak peek at their new setup a lot still to be done of course big things in the works and some very exciting stuff around here that you hope you're going to see before too long as well for now though an update in a couple of days back with the gt4 as the transformation it's underway to make it midnight purple don't forget to check out all of the new items as well in the cheers by ximen50 store the link to those is down below for now though we're gonna hop in the taikan head back home be back again very soon so thanks for watching guys appreciate your support an awful lot that's it for this time though and i'll see you again very soon cheers you\n"
