RTX 2080 Super Review - Founder's Edition and Gigabyte's RTX 2080 Super Gaming OC

The Future of Gaming: NVIDIA's RT X 2080 Super Cards and Gigabyte's Custom Offering

In this video, we take a closer look at NVIDIA's latest graphics cards, specifically the RT X 2080 Super Founders Edition and the first custom card from Gigabyte, the Gaming OC. The RT X 2080 Super is a refreshed version of the previous RT X 2080, with improved performance and increased clock speeds. Although it has the same amount of memory as its predecessor, this memory is actually faster, making the new card potentially faster than before.

The founders Edition design hasn't changed much, but it now features a mirror finish in the middle and says "Super" on it. This card is incredibly well-made and looks and feels amazing. However, what's different from previous versions is the positioning of the RT X 2080 Founders Edition. Unlike its predecessor, which was overclocked and priced at $100 higher than MSRP, the founders Edition 2080 Super returns to traditional pricing, with a non-overclocked card available at the standard price of around $700 or €740.

On the other hand, Gigabyte's Gaming OC card is the first custom offering we've seen. This card has the same design as we reviewed earlier for the RT X 2060 and RT X 2070 Super Gaming OC cards. One notable feature is that it comes with three fans, a fan stop feature, a nice backplate, and a design that's easy to match with most other components. Gigabyte also offers an added bonus: a fourth-year warranty when you register your card.

When it comes to performance, the RT X 2080 Super Founders Edition is slightly ahead of the MSI Artex 2080 Duke and OC Cloth cards in various games at different resolutions. However, even with these improvements, the RT X 28 Super still sits closer to the RT X 2070 Super than the RT X 28 ETI, which is considerably faster in every game. It's clear that the RT X 28 Super is not a direct competitor to the RT X 2070 Super and ETI due to its increased power consumption.

The thermals and noise of both cards are objectively very good, with neither getting hot or noisy under load after a 30-minute stress test. However, Gigabyte's slightly faster card does stay a bit cooler and quieter under low load, thanks to the "Big Three Found Solution," which is more efficient. Additionally, NVIDIA's GPU Boost feature allows this card to overclock itself without external intervention.

The performance difference between these two cards is only around 1-2% in most games. This makes it an attractive option for high-end users who have money to spend on a graphics card. However, the RT X 2080 Super does come with some drawbacks. One major issue is that NVIDIA sells this card as non-overclocked, which may be disappointing for those looking for more performance.

On the other hand, there are some positives to consider. For one, the RT X cards include real-time ray-tracing, which is a feature that's gaining popularity in gaming and streaming. This makes it an excellent choice for streamers who want to improve their streaming quality without sacrificing gaming performance. Additionally, the NVIDIA Vinc encoder is great for streamers with lower-end CPUs, allowing them to maintain better stream quality.

For those looking to upgrade or purchase a new graphics card, the RT X 2080 Super offers more performance at the same price as its predecessor. However, since the 2080 is getting discontinued, it may become available at discounts in stores. If you can get a good deal on an 2080, it's still a very good buy.

When it comes to custom cars like Gigabyte's Gaming OC, these cards offer some additional benefits. Not only are they slightly faster and cooler than the founders Edition, but they also come with a fourth-year warranty, which is fantastic for those spending so much money on a card. The value added by this warranty is something we highly appreciate.

Finally, it's worth noting that there is still uncertainty surrounding how much third-party custom cards like Gigabyte's Gaming OC will cost. This remains to be seen, but for now, the founders Edition 2080 Super and Gigabyte's Gaming OC offer excellent performance at a reasonable price point.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi guys not a here and today I'm gonna talk about in videos brand new graphics cars the RT X 2080 super cards and here we have the founders Edition as well as the first custom card we got which is from gigabyte and this is 2080 Super gaming OC now this is not a brand new card it is just a refresh of the previous r-tx 2080 which means that they enabled a few more cores the clock speed is higher and even though they have the same amount of memory this memory is actually faster so in theory these guys are supposed to be a few percent faster than the previous RT x 2080 and yeah they're gonna completely replace the 2080 which is going to be discontinued so let's talk about the performance of these cards thermal noise and all those fun little graph that you guys love so much let's go this video is brought to you by the cooler master master box NR 400 a quality micro ATX case that offers great performance and a sleek design at a very decent price okay yours using the links in the description below and videos founders Edition design hasn't changed much it now has a mirror finish in the middle and says super on it but that's pretty much it I don't think that's a bad thing however as this card is incredibly well-made and looks and feels amazing what is very different however is the positioning of this founders edition with the RT X 2080 the founders edition was overclocked and actually priced 100 euros higher than the MSRP and NVIDIA accounted on partners to make cheaper options unfortunately those are often really hard to find but now with the founders Edition 2080 super they're going back to their traditional ways of selling a non overclocked card at the MSRP of roughly $700 or 740 euros and they're gonna leave it to their bored partners to provide a overclocked versions now that means that at MSRP you're going to be able to buy a decent 20 80 super card the first OC card we got in is gigabytes Gaming OSI model which is the same design as we saw a couple of days ago in my review of the RT X 2060 and our TX 2070 super gaming OC cards it has three fans fans stop feature nice backplate and a design that's very easy to match with most of other components one thing that gigabyte does that I think it's a big bonus is adding a fourth year warranty when you register your card so let's talk performance now overall we see dr TX 2080 super founders edition slightly ahead of the msi artex 2080 duke and over cloth card by the way since we didn't have an RT X 2080 founders Edition depending on the game in the resolution the different goes up to 10% actually even though it's faster than before it is clear that the RT x 28 is super still sits closer to the RT x 2070 super than the RT x 28 ETI which is considerably faster in every game as the price would suggest as well it should be considered an upgrade over dr TX 2070 super for premium quad HD gaming or a good card for quad HD ultra wide if you're serious about 4k however you will still want all the power you can get from the RT X xx atti now if you're wondering why am I not talking about AMD well they literally have nothing that can compete with this card and as far as I can tell I don't think we're gonna see any competition anytime soon looking at thermals and noise after a 30-minute stress test it is clear that both cards are objectively very good neither gets hot or noisy under load now gigabytes slightly faster card does stay a bit cooler at a tiny bit quieter under low though so the big three found solution is clearly more efficient especially since the power consumption is a bit higher here - now here's a very interesting fact even though nvidia sells this card as a non overclocked card due to the way that the NVIDIA GPU boost works this card actually overclocks itself and does it very nicely so the difference between these two cars is going to be only a full of % and that's a very good news so this is a high-end car than it's meant for high-end users that do have money to spend on a graphics card if mine is going to be around seven hundred years that is a lot of money but with the r-tx cards as I've said before you do get one ray-tracing which is a bit yeah disappointing because a year later only a few titles actually support it but it does take time and if you look at the game lineup for next year there's going to be a lot more games that are going to support it and the list is going to get larger so that's good news especially if you're awaiting cyberpunk 2077 like I am and the second thing here is the Nvidia and Vinc encoder which is great for starting streamers because especially if you don't have a high end CPU because you can have a better stream without losing gaming performance so that's all good news and what you get if you buy an RT X card now if you already own an RT X card you don't really need to upgrade but if you're looking to buy a new graphics card and you were looking at an RT X 2080 then these cards are gonna give you a bit more performance for the same price that being said the 2080 is getting discontinued so that means that it might get on discounts in stores so keep an eye on that because the difference between a super and a 2080 is still small so if you get a very good price a 2080 is still a very very good buy now when it comes to the founders Edition 20/80 super it performs really well and you can get it at MSRP but if you're looking at custom cars like the Giga value we have here you can get a car that's actually slightly faster that stays cooler and it's quieter and what gigabyte has which is very cool it gives you 1 year warranty more which is fantastic if you're spending so much money on a card anyway so something I value a lot the only thing that we still need to find out is how much these third-party cards are going to cost no that's it for today thank you so much for watching let me know in the comments down below what do you think about this review and about these new RT X cards don't forget to give me a thumbs up subscribe and yeah see the next one bye you\n"
