Everything New in watchOS 4.3 - Portrait Nightstand Mode, iPhone Music Control, & More
The Release of Watch OS 4.3: A Closer Look at the Latest Update for Apple Watch
As we dive into the world of Apple Watch, it's clear that there are many exciting updates to explore. In this latest installment, watchOS 4.3 has been released, bringing with it a host of new features and improvements. One area that has seen significant attention is the Siri watch face, which has been updated to make it even more intuitive and user-friendly.
One notable feature of the Siri watch face in watchOS 4.3 is its ability to start pulling in activity data. This means that later in the day, the watch will begin to show your activity goals and provide you with encouragement to reach them. Additionally, the Siri watch face has been updated to be more responsive and intelligent, allowing it to tap into various data points to provide a more personalized experience.
Another significant update is the return of music controls on Apple Watch. This feature allows users to control their music playback directly from their wrist, without having to take out their phone. The controls are easy to access, with options for playing, pausing, skipping tracks, and even adding or disliking songs to your library. Furthermore, the AirPlay controls have also been reinstated, enabling seamless casting of music to Apple TV or HomePod devices.
A feature that has gained significant attention is the Nightstand mode, which was first introduced in watchOS 4.2. This mode allows users to view the time and battery percentage on their wrist, making it easier to glance at these essential details without having to lift up the watch face. In watchOS 4.3, this feature has been updated with a new animation that makes charging your watch even more visually appealing.
Perhaps one of the most exciting updates is the addition of Nightstand mode in portrait orientation. This means that users no longer need to have their Apple Watch oriented sideways to access this feature. Instead, they can simply switch to a vertical position and enjoy the convenience of being able to glance at the time and battery percentage on their wrist.
The inclusion of Nightstand mode in portrait orientation is largely due to the upcoming release of AirPower, Apple's new wireless charging mat. This feature will allow users to charge their Apple Watch, iPhone, and AirPods simultaneously, making it easier than ever to keep their devices charged on the go. While AirPower won't be available for a while yet, the addition of Nightstand mode in portrait orientation is an exciting step towards achieving this seamless charging experience.
Overall, watchOS 4.3 brings with it a host of new features and improvements that are sure to enhance the user experience on Apple Watch. From the intuitive Siri watch face to the return of music controls and Nightstand mode, there's something for everyone in this latest update.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwelcome everyone it is under here for Apple Insider watch with 4.3 is finally released and what they come a few small tweaks as well as a couple of really nice features so it's diamond and check out what is going on that was the latest update for the Apple watch a lot of changes for Apple watch are definitely under the hood a lot of performance improvements in bug fixes but there are a few things that we definitely should talk about first up are some improvements to the Siri watch face the Siri watch face is a relatively new watch face for the Apple watch and basically in 4.3 it just gets a little bit smarter there are a few more things that it can pull in a little bit more intuitive as far as when you're using it one of the things that I really like is it'll now start to pull your activity data so it's not pulling anything in for me right now but later in the day it will usually pull up my activity data letting you know I need a little bit more from my stand goal to get there or maybe I need to get in my exercise the next really big thing is the return of the controls for music on your iPhone you can see now I can control the music I can play pause the songs I can go forward and back tapping on that little ellipses in the bottom right hand corner brings up additional stuff like adding to library loving or disliking whatever song is currently playing there's also airplay controls in that bottom left-hand corner and I can cast from my phone to my home pod or maybe to my Apple TV stuff like this was here in the past but then Apple removed it for some reason but it is all back once more which is definitely appreciated I can't really tell you how handy it is to be able just to controlling these or my watch isn't pulling my phone out of my pocket to control volume or skipping a track if you ever charged your watch at night and you put it on its side you may have noticed there's something called a nightstand mode which is where it'll show you the current time and your battery percentage it's really quite handy and in watch West 4.3 it's been updated a little bit with this new animation remember you put your charging puck on there a new little animation will wrap around let's see it one more time and look at that animation go wrap around and then I'll move over to that top left hand corner but that's not all not only do we get this and I've set on you animation that much bigger news is it also works in portrait mode now that's right you no longer have to have your Apple watch sideways if you have any Apple watch it dock out there where it's vertical it'll now support a night stand mode this is amazing I absolutely love this but it's not just for supporting other Apple watch Chargers out there it's probably more for the upcoming release of air power Apple's new wireless charging mat it'll work with your iPhone your air pause in your Apple watch but it doesn't only work with your Apple watch horizontally so the only way to get night stand mode to work was for them to adopt it into a portrait orientation but either way I actually love this is a feature here it's really handing that just for charging it on Nats but on charging stands this is definitely a nice enhancement to have in watch OS 4 3 so that is it those are pretty much the four --is-- main new features here in watch West
