HEART CAKE TAYLOR SWIFT How To Cook That Ann Reardon BLANK SPACE OFFICIAL

Welcome to How To Cook That: Creating a Taylor Swift-Inspired Blank Space Cake

Today, we're going to make a Broken Heart Cake inspired by the iconic song from Taylor Swift's 2014 album "1989". This cake is a great example of how you can create a beautiful and unique dessert using simple ingredients and techniques. To get started, you'll need a double quantity of vanilla buttercream and recipe videos for making sponge cakes and white chocolate melts.

First things first, let's level the top of our cakes so they're completely flat. Use the back of your knife to press gently in the middle of the cake to make an indent. Then, turn your knife 90 degrees and make another indent across so you've marked the cake into quarters. Next, carefully cut out one of the quarters and then on the opposite side of the cake, cut straight across where those two indents come to the edge. Do the same thing on that quarter piece that we cut out before, making it into a triangle.

Now, add that triangle to the other side of the cake. Trim the corners off the top and use your knife to round it out so that you've got a nice heart shape. Repeat this process with your other cake as well. Place one of the hearts onto a round cake board and sketch out an oval shape. This will be the base for our cake decoration.

To decorate our cake, we'll start by melting our white chocolate melts in the microwave. Heat them up for 30 seconds, stir for 20 seconds, and then stir again for 10 seconds until they're melted and smooth. Pour that over your cake board and spread it out. Lift up your cake board and tap it under the surface to get that chocolate nice and smooth. Heat up a knife and use it to smooth the edges so that it's not bumpy.

Heat up a knife and use it to smooth the edges so that it is not bumpy. Now, place some baking paper on top of your cake board and trace around the cakes using a pencil to get the heart shape. Flip that over so you don't get the pencil marks on the chocolate. Pour some melted chocolate onto the baked paper and spread it out fairly thin. You want to be able to cut a knife through it easily, but keep it fairly thin in the middle.

To finish the base of our cake, we'll need two pieces of baking paper with heart shapes drawn on them. Place one of the hearts onto your cake board and use some buttercream to join the two heart shapes together. Repeat this process with the other piece of baking paper. Now, pipe a swirl of chocolate around and down around that circle and back up the other side and curve it around. Add a couple more long swirls to each side and then twinkle dots just to give it some style.

Now, let's talk about the finishing touches for our cake board. We'll be using edible white luster dust and a dry paint brush to make it look shiny and pearlized. You can find luster dust at most cake decorating stores or online. Just look up "edible luster dust" online and you'll know what we're talking about.

Before we finish, let's talk about the special effects that would make this cake truly pop if we were making a movie out of it. We could add some splatters to the top of the cake using a knife or even just shaking off the chocolate shavings onto the plate. If you want to take it up another notch, you can stab your knife into the cake and create a splatter effect.

Now, let's get to the fun part - slicing into our cake! As we slice into the cake, the strawberry sauce will flow out of the bottom, making it look like the heart is bleeding. The first person who can count and name all of the Taylor Swift song titles mentioned in this video will be the lucky one to win a $30 voucher for the How To Cook That shop. And for the next 9 people, they'll get a free copy of the Surprise Cakes App from the iTunes app store.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enWelcome to How To Cook ThatI am Ann ReardonToday we are making a broken heart cake modeledon the cake in the Taylor Swift song BlankSpace from her 1989 album. So so many requests for something Taylor Swift. To make this you will need a double quantityof vanilla buttercream and recipe video forthat is on the channela nd on the websitehowtocookthat.net You'll also find the recipethere and the video showing how to make thesponge cakes .You'll also need some white chocolate meltsand strawberry or raspberry sauce.Firstly level the top of your cakes so theyare completely flat. Then use the back of your knife and pressgently in the middle of the cake to make anindent. Then turn your knife 90 degrees andmake another indent across so you've markedthe cake into quarters.Carefully cut out one of the quarters andthen on the opposite side of the cake cutstraight across where those two indents cometo the edge there. And then do the same thing on that quarterpiece that we cut out before so that you aremaking it into a triangle. Then add that triangle to the other side ofthe cake.Trim the corners off the top and then useyour knife to round it out so that you'vegot a nice heart shape and repeat that withyour other cake as well.Place one of the hearts onto a round cakeboard and sketch out an oval shape. We aregoing to decorate it to make it a bit similarto the platter in the clip. If you can findone of those platters you can just use thatbut this just makes it easy for you to usea cake board.Cut that out and then melt your white chocolatemelts in the microwave. 30 seconds stir, 20seconds stir and then 10 seconds stir untilit is melted.Pour that over your cake board andspread it out.Lift up your cake board and tap it underneathto get that chocolate nice and smooth. Heatup a knife and use it to smooth the edgesso that it is not bumpy and leave it to set.On some baking paper trace around the cakeso that you've got the heart shape. Then flipthat over so you don't get the pencil on thechocolate that we are going to use.Pour some chocolate on and then spread itout, you don't want this to be too thick becauseremember you want to be able to cut a knifethrough it easily so spread it out fairlythin. You can do it thicker on the edges ifyou want but keep it fairly thin in the middle. And you will need two of these so grab anotherpiece of baking paper and make another one.Place the cake onto some baking paper anduse some buttercream to join the two heartbits together. Then spread some buttercream on top and thesides. Then add another heart on top. Andspread buttercream all over the cake.Take clean clear piece of plastic and holdingit firmly at the base run it up the sidesof the cake to smooth it out, we are goingto add more butter cream so if it not exactlycorrect it doesn't matter just get it fairlysmooth. When you get around to the top topof the heart you can bend that plastic aroundso that it matches the curve of the cake andrun it up. So it just makes it really easyto smooth it.Then use a spatula to pick it up and put thewhole heart onto the chocolate coated cakeboard.Peel one of the hearts off the baking paperand add it to the top of the cake, push itdown firmly but not too hard you don't wantthe break it, because then you'll have tobegin again.Pipe some buttercream around the edge to outlinethe heart and then repeat that again so youhave a double layer of frosting going aroundthere and make sure there are no gaps in it.Because this is like our barrier or our pooledge so it's important. Now pour in the strawberry sauce so we havea beautiful RED heart there in the middle.Add the other chocolate heart on top and pushit down again not too firmly, make you thatyou push down just on the edges not in themiddle when you do this.Add another thin layer of frosting all overthe top and then spread it out and smoothit using your spatula and the plastic justlike we did before. Then CHANGE to a small star shaped tip andpipe little stars of buttercream all the wayaround the top edge. And if anyone is thinkingI wish you would show us how to do this withouta piping bag, I have a video on that, I'lllink you to that in the description below. Then pipe stars all the way around the baseof the cake where it meets the cake boardand then another line of stars just abovethat first one all the way around the edge. Now to make our cake board look pretty, putsome melted chocolate into a piping bag witha small round tip, or you could just use aziplock bag with the corner cut off. Pipelittle dots all the way around the whole wayaround the oval. Then on each side pipe a dot sort of justa little way in from the edge and then putsix dot as around like you've got a circleor a little flower. Then draw a line of dotsgoing around the circle and up towards thecake curving in and then out. Do another lineof dots on the other side of that circle justto match it there. Now pipe a swirl of chocolate swirl aroundand down around that circle and back up theother side and curve it around. Add a couplemore long swirls to each side and then twomore shorter ones just to give it some style.Let that chocolate set and then use some whiteluster dust and a dry paint brush and brushover the platter. Now I know places like cakedecorating stores sell luster dust. Peoplealways ask where can I get it, It is edibleand it's called luster dust you can just lookit up online. And it just makes it look alittle shiny, pearlized and pretty. For the full taylor swift effect stab yourknife into the cake and if you want splatterjust shake it off the knife. If this was amovie we'd add special effects, but it isnot it is a real cake. Now slice into the cake the strawberry saucewill flow over and out of the cake. The first person who can count and name allof the Taylor Swift song titles mentionedin this video will be THE LUCKY ONE to geta $30 voucher for the how to cook that shopand the next 9 people will get free copy ofthe Surprise Cakes App from the itunes appstore.Subscribe to how to cook that for more craziersweet creations, click here for last weeksvideo, here for the channel and here to goto the website.Have a great week and I'll see you Fridaywith a chocolate creation that is beyond youWILDEST DREAMS.[music: The boat Song by youtube.com/setsailtvused with permission]\n"
