HOW WELL DO I KNOW MY BOOKS CHALLENGE!

**A Shelf Tour: Guessing Games and Book Insights**

The game begins with the first book on the shelf, "The Exiles" by Sarah Beth Durst. The speaker's favorite book is one of this series, but they can't recall which number it was. They decide to start at the top and work their way down, beginning with a question about whether this book has an epilogue or prologue. To their surprise, there is indeed an epilogue, which they correctly guessed.

As the speaker moves on to the next book, "The Crimson Crown" by S.A. Chakraborty, they decide to take a closer look at the design of the page numbers. They ask if the book has a prologue and are disappointed to find that it does not. Instead, the book jumps straight into chapter one. The speaker then moves on to the next question, which is about whether Neil Gaiman's "Never Wear My Necklace" is signed.

The final number of books on the shelf belongs to "Queen of Air and Darkness" by Cassandra Clare. The speaker decides to take a closer look at the book design and notices that the page numbers have a unique squiggle-like design near them, which they attribute to the publisher's efforts to add visual interest to the book. Next up is the book "Obsidio" by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff, whose chapters feature distinctive header designs, particularly in the beginning of each chapter.

The seventh number on the shelf belongs to "The Wizards of Once" series by Cressida Cowell. The speaker is asked to guess whether the acknowledgments are located at the front or back of this book, which they believe would be in the front given that it's the first book in a series. The final question belongs to "Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix," whose publication year is guessed to be 2001. However, after checking the book, the speaker realizes that it was actually published in 2003.

Finally, the fifth number on the shelf belongs to "Ember in the Ashes" by Saba Tahir. The speaker was asked to recall when they first read this book and admits to re-reading it last year. However, they initially guessed that it was published in 2014, only to discover later that it had actually been released in 2015.

As the speaker finishes their tour of the shelf, they reflect on their performance and acknowledge that they may not have gotten everything right. Despite any mistakes, however, they express appreciation for the opportunity to engage with these books and explore their various designs and features.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi this shirt is wild hi everyone it's regan and welcome back to another video today i'm gonna be doing a challenge video this is a video that jesse the reader created over on his channel and it's basically called how well do you know your books challenge essentially i ask you guys for two numbers that correspond to my bookshelf the first number being one through ten because i have ten shelves that i deem acceptable to be seen by the internet my last two shelves are a disaster so just like my life and the second number is the number of the book on said shelf i did through 24 and if there are less books than 24 i'll just loop back and we pull the book out from there and to those corresponding numbers there are basically questions to see how well do you know that random book on your bookshelf so i have twitter and youtube up on my phone so we're gonna start rotating back and forth but the very first book i'm going to pull is three and seven so let's do it oh great and the question is without looking at the description tell us what this book is about mildly tricky because this is a third book in the series but luckily it's the third book to one of my favorite series of all time the tearling trilogy is essentially a fantasy story following our main character who at the beginning of the first one is coming into age to be able to rule she was raised separately from her kingdom and it is currently being ruled by like her evil uncle who's also very inept at ruling the beginning of the first story she's basically used as a pond to overthrow that current establishment and she's put into power however she is quite capable in the first novel she basically is learning how to handle all of the political intrigue and navigate this new political landscape there's also some really interesting fantastical and may i say supernatural elements to this story as well so the tearling trilogy it's incredible one of my favorite ever so yay i completed the first challenge next is shelf five book twenty so one two three four five for this book it is without looking up what is the genre of this book luckily for me my shelf is almost exclusively one whole genre but this is my friend's fantasy why a fantasy if you want to get specific but yeah the king of atolia incredible incredible next number is seven and ten so five six seven nine ten oh no i have not read this book without looking at the book what is on the cover okay so i actually know this this is um the brief and wondrous life of oscar whoa it's the title of the book and there's like this face like profile i think let's see if i'm right yeah it's the title and like this profile face like you know splattered on i think that counts it's very simple cover so hey yo emma asked me to do 6 and 14 so this shelf might percy jacks yourself one two three four five six seven eight nine 10 11 12 13 14. i have not read this either so this question is name the main character's book without looking it up i'm honestly gonna say i got really lucky with the book i picked because i'm actually terrible with names um i have to constantly look up the names of books that i literally just read but the book i picked is arusha and the end of time so the main character's name is arusha huzzah next number is nine and four and for this one it is without looking it up name a side character and i picked the frozen tide by morgan rhodes i honestly have forgotten all of the characters names in this series besides magnus and cleo which are definitely main characters so i have failed this so terribly i mean i can't even think of anything like i'm just going to be throwing out random fantastical names theo we own there's a lot of th's i have no idea i just know magnus and cleo i didn't even remember the other two main characters names in the series oh goodness gracious next number is 2 and 14 so shelf 2. 14. one of my favorite books and for this one you have to guess how many pages this book is i have read this book twice this is a darker shade of magic by v.e schwab so hopefully i can get this correctly and basically you're trying to guess within 25 pages above or below ugh looking at this i feel like this is not 500 pages i want to say it's like 450 the brightness is wild hello maybe i want to say this is like 452 or something like that this doesn't feel like 500 pages but i know it's like on its way there so let's see if i'm right 452 final answer it's 424 which using math i was three pages off from being within the acceptable range sad okay i was wrong dang it i knew it was closer to 400 i should have gone my gut next number is third at three and 18. all right without looking it up what rating did you give this book i have read this book luckily and it's priory of the orange tree by samantha shannon and oh man i want to say i feel like i've changed my rating a lot for this book like as i've let time pass so i don't really know i feel like i gave it a 3.75 i feel like that is the rating i stand behind for this book and what i hopefully gave it in the video but let me find my wrap up how did i finish this i don't even know may was it may found the video april wrap up what did i give it haha dynamic ultimately i gave this book a four 3.75 out of five three five all right next number is eight and twelve two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven twelve i've not read this so without looking where does this book take place i have not read this book the book is the goldfinch i wanna say i'm just gonna guess i'm gonna say new york city new york city is a big place and uh i feel like this follows like artists so new york city some of it definitely does take place in new york city it's from present-day america i honestly don't know it might take place in lots of places next number is 4 and 21 so show 4. outlooking what are the main characters parents names another name question i'm definitely going to fail it's throne of glass can i say like like it's kind of a spoiler actually so i feel like i'm not going to say the parents names but just so you know i'm not trying to cheat i'm confirming i don't know what their names are but i also yeah so oops is six and five so one two three four five so for this one you're supposed to guess the color of the book underneath the dust jacket it is harry potter harry potter and the blood of olympus and i haven't read this book in a long time i'm gonna guess maroon you know a nice blood color you know i'm like totally wrong it's purple hey not even a little bit maroon okay the next number i'm going to do is 7 and 17. 17. and then for this question you're supposed to guess if this has something underneath the dust jacket like embossed i'm gonna say yes i don't know for sure though this is a really popular series i feel like they would put something on here like a feather some blue i don't know though i also feel like this is an earlier type of y a so like maybe they didn't do that then i'm gonna say yes though i'm gonna say yes i'm right it's hard to tell but there is a ley line embossed it's really close up to my face in the front cover of this book not a feather but i still guessed right right next number is 10 and 10 so last shelf so for this one you're supposed to guess if the chapters have just numbers or if they have titles and i picked ever found ooh which is an autographed copy by neil schusterman i haven't read this but i feel like dude schusterman does like to give his chapters titles i could be wrong but i'm gonna say that they have like numbers but also titles hey they do so it's chapter five ally in distress so does that count like i feel like i'm going to say it counts here's titles next number is 1 and 10. for this you're supposed to say before looking at the book cover does this book have an award and i picked uh the school for good and evil and i feel like this does not have an award on it um at least my version of the book doesn't have an award on it if it did want one i'm not sure but let me see it doesn't i mean it is a new york times bestselling author which is very impressive but no award so i got this one as well sticky on shelf one the next one is one and 17. and for this you're supposed to say without looking at the front cover does this book have any author blurbs on the front cover i picked the bear and the nightingale and i'm gonna say yes it does i'm gonna say it has like one quote at the top talking about how amazing it is by some really big shot author so that's my guess yeah i was right kinda so it does have a quote at the top it says arden's debut novel has a chance of a beautiful fairy tale but is darker and more lyrical but it's not from an author from the washington post but still a blurb well does it say author blur oh well it says author blurb this is just a publication blurb maybe like half points ah you let me know what you guys think next is nine and twelve and for this one that you're supposed to without looking at the book say if this book has a description on the back and this is blood mirror by brent weeks it's a hardcover fifth book in a series so i feel like it might be on the in like the inside flap and it might just have blurbs on the back from authors i don't know for sure though but i'm gonna go with my gut instinct and say it does not it might have like a quote but it's gonna be mostly blurbs and the inside flap will have the synopsis yay i think i'm right okay so on the back quotes and blurbs saying how great it is and then on the front description which i won't show because that would be very spoilery oh my god i'm right okay hey next is three and thirteen and for this one you're supposed to guess if this novel has an author photo i picked six of crows by leigh bardugo and i'm gonna say with quite certainty that it does on the backside flap which i am correct about hey leigh bardugo great picture really cute next number is 10 and 22. and for this you're supposed to decide if the author is writing under a pen name the book i picked is the kiss of deception by mary e pearson i'm gonna say this is not a pen name i honestly have no idea um so i'm gonna have to google it to confirm but i'm gonna say this is mary's name mary e pearson's name though she does have an e in there which is pretty cool and there's no author photos so maybe i'm just wrong right from my preliminary google search it appears that mary e pearson is not a pen name she seems to be that is her actual name so that is exciting love her books big fan um so yeah next number is eight and two so eight and two oh my goodness okay so the book i picked is burial rights by hannah kent which is an incredible novel and you're supposed to say is this book written in first or third person i don't remember at all like at all at all i'm gonna say it's not written in first person i don't feel like it would be oh but maybe it would be written in first person oh maybe it shifts it could be written in both i really have no idea i'm going to say oh man i'm going to say it's written in first person actually yeah no that's written i don't know why i said it would be the first person no i'm so wrong okay yeah okay i was wrong next number is 5 and 13. so the book that corresponds with that number is the price guide to the occult by leslie walton and you're supposed to say if this book has any type of illustrations in it i don't think it has any like full page illustrations it might have some nice chapter heading like something but other than that i don't believe there's any type of illustrations in this book but let's see yeah there's definitely a nice little branch at the top of a chapter but there's nothing like this is a full novel there's no pictures in it but yeah like again chapter header illustrations but that is it so hey i got it number is eight and fourteen and for this i picked four of the exiles that was the number of the book on the shelf which is one of my favorite books ever i need to reread this series soon um but you're supposed to guess if this book has an epilogue or a prologue oh okay so this is an epilogue so i'm actually gonna say yes because this is the second book to a series and i feel like they might have something in an epilogue to lead you into the next book but let's see if i'm right haha there is an epilogue okay cool i was right oh my gosh this book series is so good though i need to reread this i just like saw some character names and some things and it made me really happy and nostalgic and i need to reread next number is two and nine so let me see here one two three four five six seven eight nine oh okay so the book i picked is the crimson crown the fourth and final book to the seven realms series by sin williams chima and the question is does this book have a prologue so i'm gonna say yes it does again because it's a multi-series fantasy novel sorry you're too bright so i feel like the use of prologues and epilogues are pretty popular um but i could be wrong could just jump right into chapter one so let me see ah yes i was wrong just jumps right into chapter one so no prologue next is ten and seven this i picked never wear my neil gaiman and the question is without looking is this book signed i wish it was signed having a signal gaming book would be awesome but no definitely not signed by neil gaiman definitely not next is 4 and 15. so the book i picked here is queen of air and darkness by cassandra clare and the question is without looking do the page numbers in this book have any sort of design i'm actually gonna say yes because this is a pretty fancy book so i feel like there's gonna be some like some sort of squigglies or something next to those page numbers and heck yes there are let the yeah do you see can you see will it focus oh yeah look at that look at that design work all right four questions left next number is one and three so near the top easy to find so the book with that number is obsidio uh by amie kaufman and jay kristoff and the question is do the chapters have header designs and i'm gonna say yes only because this book has like so much going on so i'm sure that there's always like something near and around the beginning of a chapter uh just because there's so much like mixed media in this book um so i think it like depends on the chapter like as you can see like there's definitely something here so i feel like yes might be a bit of a cop-out given the structure of the book but there's just so many designs everywhere you know it's not a traditional book it's always something to tell you what you're watching or reading you know what i mean this number is seven and eleven so the book i picked is the wizards of once by procedure crowl and you're supposed to guess if the acknowledgements are in the front or the back of this book i'm gonna say the back because it's the first book in a series yeah hey yo next is five and three all right so please don't judge me i haven't put the three books the first two books back on my shelf so the third book on the fifth shelf is harry potter and the order of phoenix and for this i'm supposed to guess what year this was published oh my gosh i uh it's gotta be like 2001. is my guess i don't know let me see where would it say originally 2003 bummer okay i was kind of close though i was a i was a youngin though and the very last number that was selected for me was 5 in 21 and that book is ember in the ashes by saba tahir and the question is when did you first read this book so i re-read it last year 2018 but i originally read it when this book came out which my goodness i was still in college and so that had to have been like 2015 2015. when did this book come out it's gonna be like 2014. 2014 is when i read this book i'm going to say 2014. dang it it was 2015. so close alrighty guys i think i did all right please don't ask me anything about names or years because i will apparently always get those wrong but for the most part i think i knew my shelf pretty well anyway i hope you guys enjoyed this video and i'll see you soon with another one soon goodbyehi this shirt is wild hi everyone it's regan and welcome back to another video today i'm gonna be doing a challenge video this is a video that jesse the reader created over on his channel and it's basically called last year 2018 but i originally read it when this book came out which my goodness i was still in college and so that had to have been like 2015 2015. when did this book come out it's gonna be like 2014. 2014 is when i read this book i'm going to say 2014. dang it it was 2015. so close alrighty guys i think i did all right please don't ask me anything about names or years because i will
