"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enit's taken Porche 5 years to make this the Porsche Panamera wagon shooting Break Sport Turismo is what they call it technically and 5 years seems like a long time for what's a car that's closely related to The Standard paname the car was shown at 2012 um back in the Paris Motor Show and apparently the reaction to it was really overwhelmingly positive they admit they procrastinated for a while and also I guess they had to wait for the new generation car to come along which was only launched last year so so here we are we now have standard paname four-door a long wheelbase executive version and this sport Turismo to choose from the engine range for this car mirrors pretty closely that of the the standard paname so you've got entry level Panamera 4 V6 um a 4S 4S hybrid and this which is the 541 horsepower turbo version 570 lb foot of torque nearly not 60 in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of almost 190 mph that's what you need isn't it that's what everybody needs in their everyday any occasion Family Estate car I'm not really sure I buy the the practicality argument for owning one of these cars it goes something like this so you get an extra 50 L of boot space over the standard car you get a three- seater rear bench or rather they call it a 2 plus one so the middle seat well you wouldn't want to sit there for very long the transmission tunnel is really wide and the seats really narrow and most people who own this car wouldn't wouldn't need a 5- seater and that extra boot space it's really only 50 L which which is really only one one extra big suitcase so it's not like the standard paname an impractical car that's got a perfectly big boot it's it's a hatchback so it's nice and accessible if you if you need a practical car you buy an E-class of don't you I think what this car really does is it finally gives the paname a bit of a bit of an identity of its own from a design perspective it it sort of gives you permission to want one because the standard car has always had that that slightly funny styling about it it's always had that kind of weird overgrown four-door 911 look about it and while the new one softened the look quite a lot and made it a bit more acceptable it never really made the car desirable certainly not as desirable to look at as it deserves to be because to drive the things really really good technically there isn't much that separates this from the standard paname mirror the car's wheelbase is the same it's no longer a suspension is basically the same you get four-wheel driver Standard air suspension on all but the entry level model and then you've got rear wheel steer a torque vectoring active rear diff and active anti-roll bars all as options you certainly can't complain about this cabin well what a fantastic place to be we gave the 4S diesel Panamera the standard one a fstar road test verdict earlier this year and this turbo feels every bit as good obviously it's faster in its way but the really impressive thing is the it's just that perfectly judged Dynamic compromise of r handling the air suspension on the car just feels really natural you get a real sense of being connected to the row surface which a lot of air suspension systems still don't give you body controls really good steering feel is really natural feels weighty feels intuitive to use and all the time you've got a fantastic 540 horsepower v8 engine and an 8-speed gearbox and 4 four wheel drive which obviously makes it quite fast well very fast actually if you're want a big GT car from a sort of a technical standpoint I don't think you can get a better one than this whether you want the 4S diesel or the all the turbo really is a matter of taste how you're going to use it you know the 4S Diesel's got all that torque the turbo it's got 540 horsepower you know it's a faster car and it's more exciting porer claims of course that this is is a completely unique car in the luxury segment just as every manufacturer claims for its new car I'm not entirely sure that's true but there is no doubt that this this is just now the default paname as far as I'm concerned this is the one you'd have it looks better than the standard car it's more usable I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it if somebody said I quite fancy a big GT car I think I'd send them into the poral dealership to drive one of these if they said I fancied an aake are I wouldn't this clearly isn't as practical as a lot of big cars and the fact that it's it's got a an an estate car conversion doesn't really make a great deal of difference to that but it's an even better GT car than it ever was that's for certain I think the point is this is a really desirable car now finally it looks as good as it drives and it's okay to want one oh\n"
