**Creating a Bootable USB with Windows 11**
To start creating a bootable USB with Windows 11, you need to go to the Windows 11 download page and scroll down to the "Create Windows 11 Installation Media" section. Click on the blue "Download Now" button to begin the process. Navigate to the downloaded .exe file and launch it. This will initiate the Windows 11 setup process.
**Selecting the Edition and Creating Media**
On the next screen, you'll be asked which edition of Windows 11 you'd like to create media for. Currently, the only option is Windows 11 Home. You can choose a different edition if needed; however, we'll stick with Windows 11 Home for this tutorial. Click "Next" to proceed.
**Selecting the USB Flash Drive**
The next screen will ask you to select the USB flash drive where you want to create the media. If you haven't already plugged in your USB drive, do so now. Then, click "Refresh" to see the list of available drives. Select your USB drive and click "Next". The installer will then download Windows 11 and verify its integrity before creating the media.
**Downloading and Verifying the Media**
The next screen will show a progress bar indicating how much longer it'll take to complete the process. This can take some time, so you may want to do something else in the meantime. Once the download is complete, click "Finish" to proceed with the installation.
**Entering UEFI Firmware Settings**
To create a bootable USB with Windows 11, you need to get into the BIOS settings. To do this, navigate to the Start menu and click on "Settings". Then, click on "Update & Security", followed by "Recovery". Under the advanced startup section, click "Restart Now". The system will reboot into the BIOS.
**Accessing the BIOS**
In some cases, you may not have the UEFI firmware settings available. If that's the case, you'll need to quickly press a key on your keyboard as your computer boots up. On some systems, this key is F2. You can also try pressing F1, F8, or F10, depending on your motherboard. Once in the BIOS, navigate to the boot menu and select your internal drive followed by the USB flash drive. This will load Windows 11 setup onto your computer.
**Installing Windows 11**
Once you're in the Windows 11 installer, select your language and click "Next". If you have a valid product key handy, you can enter it now or skip this step for later activation. Choose your version of Windows 11; we'll be using Windows 11 Home. Click "Next" to proceed.
**Custom Installation Options**
You'll then be presented with two options: upgrading and keeping all files and settings, or doing a custom installation that will erase everything on the drive. We'll choose the latter option for this tutorial. Select the drive you want to install Windows 11 on and click "Next". The installation process will begin.
**Setting Up Windows 11**
After a few reboots, you'll be greeted with a screen asking you to give your PC a name. This is usually the name it will show up as on your network. Click "Yes" and then select your keyboard layout. You'll then be asked to create or sign in to a Microsoft account. Unlike previous versions of Windows, this is now required.
**Creating a Microsoft Account**
Once you've logged into your Microsoft account, you can switch to an offline account after the installation is complete. Click "Setup as New Device", followed by "Next". You'll then be asked if you want to share information with Microsoft; we won't do that in this tutorial. Finally, you have the option to set up OneDrive, but we won't be doing that either.
**Finalizing the Installation**
After skipping all these additional options, your computer will finish setting up Windows 11 and drop you off into the new desktop environment. Congratulations! You've successfully created a bootable USB with Windows 11.
