Epic Fail
The Search for Supercars in Honolulu
As I stood in front of a white Porsche Carrera S, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. I had been searching for supercars in Honolulu for hours, and finally, I had found one. But as I gazed at the sleek machine, I couldn't shake off the feeling that it was too tame. "Hey, how's it going?" I called out to a nearby luxury car rental agent.
"I'm standing in front of a white Carrera S," I said with a hint of disappointment. "Do you guys rent this car for $5.99 a day?" The agent replied that the price included insurance and other fees, which came out to around $700 plus tax. "Paying cash, 10% discount." I liked the sound of that. After all, who doesn't love a good deal? With the cash in hand, I was ready to take the Porsche for a spin.
But as I looked around, I realized that I might not have found what I was really looking for. "Apparently, there's a dealership that sells Ferraris and supercars here in Honolulu," I thought to myself. "I didn't know that." I decided to put my search on hold for now and try to find the dealership later.
Instead, I sat down at one of the main intersections and parked my butt there, determined to see how many supercars I could spot. The plan was to spend an hour and a half just observing and waiting for something to happen. As I settled into my makeshift perch, I spotted a Ferrari California in the distance. "Well, that was super successful," I thought with a chuckle.
However, as the hours ticked by, I realized that Honolulu might not be the best place to spot supercars. Despite the beautiful weather and upscale atmosphere, the streets were relatively empty of high-end vehicles. I spotted a couple of basic Porsches, but that was about it. It seemed like all the cool kids were keeping their cars hidden away.
Undeterred, I decided to venture off the beaten path and try to find that supercar dealership. After all, I had to accomplish something on my "Daily Driven Exotics" level today. As I walked down the main drag, I spotted a Rolex watch store, which seemed like a good place to start. The owner, a friendly gentleman with a passion for luxury timepieces, offered me a warm welcome.
"Are you vlogging?" he asked, eyeing my camera equipment. "What's that?" he replied when I told him about Daily Driven Exotics. He wrote it down on a piece of paper and smiled, clearly entertained by the idea of exotic cars. We chatted for a while about watches, with me asking questions and him offering expert advice.
As we talked, I couldn't help but notice that Barack Obama's name was mentioned in passing. "That'd be cool," I thought to myself. "To catch the Secret Service shutting everything down and having a convoy of blacked-out SUVs." Alas, it seemed like that wasn't going to happen today.
The Rolex owner showed me some of his favorite watches, including a stunning Platinum Daytona with a powder blue dial. "This one's worth $60,000," he said with a smile. I was impressed by the craftsmanship and beauty of the watch. As we parted ways, I thanked him for the chat and continued my search for supercars.
As the day drew to a close, I reflected on what had been a relatively unsuccessful car-spotting adventure. Despite spotting two Ferraris California's (which I slipped up on by not even getting a good shot), I realized that Honolulu just wasn't the right place to find supercars. But I was determined to try again tomorrow and track down those exotic cars.
With renewed energy, I decided to explore the city some more and see if I could find that supercar dealership. After all, there had to be someone out there who was passionate about high-end vehicles. As I walked through the streets, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation for what tomorrow would bring.
