Review - Netatmo Smart Indoor Camera With HomeKit Secure Video & AI People Recognition
**Smart Home Security with HomeKit**
The HomeKit app is a central hub for managing various smart devices and accessories in your home, including cameras, motion sensors, and occupancy sensors. With HomeKit, you can control and monitor your home's security from anywhere using your iPhone or iPad.
**Camera Options**
One of the key features of HomeKit-enabled cameras is their ability to detect and recognize individuals, pets, and objects within their field of view. This allows for more precise alerts and notifications, making it easier to identify potential security threats. The Next atmo smart indoor camera is a great example of this technology in action. With its excellent video quality and AI-powered features, you can rest assured that your home is being monitored with the latest security advancements.
**Home Security Modes**
When you're away from home, you can enable streaming and recording to capture any motion that's detected by the camera. This allows you to review footage later on and take action if necessary. However, when you're home, you can switch between different modes, such as "stream" (always-on), "record" (only detect activity), or "detect" (turn off the camera for privacy reasons). You can also adjust the camera's settings to ignore animals, vehicles, or other non-human entities that may trigger unnecessary alerts.
**Alerts and Notifications**
One of the most significant benefits of HomeKit-enabled cameras is their ability to provide timely and relevant notifications. When motion is detected, you'll receive an alert with a live view of what's happening in your home. This allows you to respond quickly and effectively, whether it's calling the authorities or taking care of a potential security breach.
**HomeKit Settings**
Within the Home app, you can access advanced settings that allow you to customize your camera's behavior and alert preferences. For example, you can ungroup accessories like motion sensors and occupancy sensors from the main camera, giving you more control over which devices are monitored separately. You can also adjust the camera's privacy parameters, such as turning off the status light or night-vision light, to ensure that your home is protected without compromising its natural ambiance.
**Facial Recognition**
One of the most impressive features of HomeKit-enabled cameras is their ability to recognize and identify individuals within their field of view. When someone new enters your home, you'll receive an alert with a notification about who it is – or rather, if you know who they are. If you don't recognize the face, you can assign them as a guest, unknown, or even take action against them if necessary.
**Recording and Sharing**
HomeKit-enabled cameras also allow for advanced recording capabilities, including the ability to export footage from your camera directly to iCloud Storage (with plans like 200 gig or 2TB). This makes it easy to share evidence with authorities or review security footage later on. With this feature, you can keep your home safe and secure while also having peace of mind knowing that you have a clear record of any incidents.
**Encryption and Security**
HomeKit devices, including cameras, are designed with security in mind. All data is encrypted and stored locally on the device or iCloud Storage, ensuring that sensitive information remains protected from unauthorized access. This provides an added layer of trust when using smart home devices, knowing that your personal data is safe and secure.
**Conclusion**
In conclusion, HomeKit-enabled cameras offer a comprehensive solution for home security that combines advanced features with ease of use. With their ability to detect and recognize individuals, objects, and pets, these cameras provide timely alerts and notifications that keep you informed about what's happening in your home. By leveraging the power of AI and machine learning, HomeKit cameras make it possible to feel more secure in your own home – and that's something we can all appreciate.

reviewing it until this latest firmware update arrived the new update that was just launched and support for homekit secure video which is Apple's cloud recording so everything is contained within iCloud now there's a bunch of other great features that we're going to talk about using them tap mount app but we're also going to focus a lot on home kit and home kit secure video what you can do with those what that means so let's go through the basics first of the night Atmos Mart into our camera this is another smart indoor camera it's very low profile has an aluminum body there that's anodized has a nice kind of matte finish to it looks a lot like a lot of Apple products also in the box and the cables and a pair of these and tamo Security stickers to put on your front door back windows anything like that to let would be near dwells know that you do have a security system in place there's a silicon foot on the bottom though it doesn't hold it quite as much as we'd like because the camera itself is very light so it can kind of move around something pulled on the cord there is a micro SD card slot on the back the micro USB port for her power and chartered not charging with power and Ethernet if you want to hardwire it and then the home kit pairing code you can see on the front this large black portion that has things like the microphones the camera module all of that there on the front so getting this thing started kicked up running very easy to do like with a lot of home care products so plug this thing in and you can go through the in attack mode app or you go through the home kit app but you're gonna turn the camera upside down which is going to put it into pairing mode the light on the front is going to start glowing it's gonna search for the camera and you're gonna find the netatmo welcome there this more indoor camera tap on that add it to the house in your home kit setup you're gonna tap on you can continue in scan at the home cat parent code we're gonna leave that part out here then you're going to select a room in this case we're gonna put it into our living room we're gonna give our camera as well as named the two sensors the occupancy sensor and in the motion sensor more on those two in just a moment tap on done turn your camera right-side up and you're good to go and tamo does walk you through a little bit more about what this camera does that's particularly unique such as how to place it and how the AI works the AI is particularly unique tune its hat mode it is very good at recognizing different things like pets versus people but it can also tell different people apart it can go between you your family members guests or intruders so here we are inside than just tap mode app we can see our home we can see people in our house which is me up there above and you can hold on my icon and edit that or forget that user ID let them know that this is me it has notifications on so when I come and go so maybe if you want to recognize your kids you can recognize them when they come or leave your house when you used to wipe up it'll move the video towards the top of the display you can play that go into Live View or you can go through the timeline here so you can see it was updated when Andrew arrived home when it was online when it was changing modes all of that tap in you can make it larger you can zoom into the video and see what's going on you couldn't turn on the speaker the microphone and talk back and forth a lot of kind of standard homekit camera features tapping the ellipsis on the top right hand corner you can turn monitoring on or off so if you want this camera to be able to be viewed by other guests that you've added you can manage gas and add other people to your app in your home now this part here is what we really want to talk about this is the smart the AI features of and the tamo cameras these are the different parameters you can set up so when nobody is home do you want to notify you and record unknown faces do you want to notify about people people you know and don't know animals other emotions or alarms this actually can listen for alarms like a smoke detector to going off and can alert you that that smoke detector is being triggered so you can manage all that for when you're home or away so all of that is there within then at at most security app if we go over to home can go into the home app we move our living room where that camera has been added and scrolled towards the bottom you can see we have at my indoor camera which is what we had named the camera and we have that live view of what's going on currently in our living room you can tap that bring it full screen and tap on the gear to bring up additional options you can change things like the room or ungroup the accessories there are two other accessories that go with the camera which is the motion sensor and the occupancy sensor so the occupancy sensor will let you know when someone's actually in the room and motion can be just any type of motion you can enable notifications if you'd like which includes allowing snapshots you can get notification with a picture when motion was detected home get secured video now adds these additional options such as streaming and recording so when you're home you can change the mode whether you want to stream in a lot recording just allow streaming just detect activity or turn that camera off completely for privacy reasons so if you want to detect activity that's really good if you want to trigger a lights and everything else while you're home but you don't want the camera to actually stream anything and of course while you're away you can enable streaming and recording to record any motion that's detected now if you want to ignore your animals you wanna ignore your vehicles you can just have it alert you and record whenever people are detected you can turn off the camera status light and turn off the cameras night-vision light as well within those homekit settings now you can see we ungroup the accessories so the motion sensor and occupancy sensor are pulled out those are by themselves and the camera is in off mode because we are home and we don't want anyone to be able to pull up that camera these privacy parameters are really great and it makes you feel much better about having a camera in your home and in tap mode very much wants us to be just near your door something like that and not just kind of blanketing your home like other cameras so here you can see we have someone coming to our home it doesn't recognize that face we got an alert that there was motion detected a person was detected and it doesn't know who that person was so we got that notification and we can open up the netatmo app or we could open up the home app if it just detects motion in general you can assign that face to someone you know or you can turn on the siren and work that person off if we jump back to the home app you can pull up the camera and see that motion was detected here and it was a person so you can see view it live or view that recording from when that happened what time it was and then you can go ahead and save that video export it share to someone else hey do you know who this is sending it to your wife or family member or if someone did break in you're able to save that to your phone share that with the authorities whatever you need to do home kay secure video allows these are recording for one camera if you have the 200 gig plan and if you have the two terabyte plan you get 10 days of recording for up to 5 cameras the video quality on the next atmo smart indoor camera is excellent and we're really really impressed with the AI features it's really nice to be able to know not only when there's motion but when there's a person and if that person is someone you know versus someone you don't know you don't get bogged down with just unnecessary notifications all the time and it really makes using a indoor camera smart camera much more palatable it feels more secure you can turn off and you don't need to homekit secure video means everything is encrypted and stored with an iCloud and not on third-party servers or anything like that we are very impressed with the nice hat most smart indoor camera if you're going to pick up an indoor camera this is a great one to go with not only cause
