Xiaomi Notebook Pro 120G Review _ Macbook for Windows

**Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra Review: A Premium but Flawed Ultra-Book**

The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra is a stunning ultra-book that boasts an exceptional build quality, premium feel, and impressive screen quality. The laptop's build is where it truly shines, with a premium design that feels very solid in the hands. However, one thing that might be a concern for some users is the corners of the laptop being soldered, which means upgrading the RAM is not possible.

**Performance: A Mixed Bag**

The Mi 11 Ultra comes equipped with the AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS processor and the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 6800M GPU. While this combination delivers impressive raw performance, there's a catch - the laptop can get very hot during intense usage. The heat issue is largely due to the power-hungry nature of the processor and the powerful GPU. However, for casual users, this shouldn't be a significant concern.

One aspect where the Mi 11 Ultra falls short is its battery life. With an average capacity of 56 watts, the laptop's battery life is below par for a modern ultra-book. Users can expect around three to four hours of usage with normal tasks, and even shorter periods during intense usage or gaming. This might not be ideal for users who need a laptop that can last throughout the day.

**Software: A Mixed Bag**

The Mi 11 Ultra comes with Windows 11 Home pre-installed, which is decent for most users. However, there's no bloatware, and users won't have to deal with unnecessary software taking up space on their laptop. On the other hand, Microsoft Office Student is not available on this model, which might be a drawback for some students.

**Camera: A Minor Letdown**

The Mi 11 Ultra features a 720p webcam, which is more than acceptable in most cases. However, it's worth noting that many Windows laptops come with similar cameras, so it's not necessarily a major letdown.

**Pricing and Conclusion**

The Mi 11 Ultra comes at a price of around ₹75,000, which might be considered steep by some users. While the laptop is certainly premium in terms of build quality and performance, there are cheaper alternatives available in the market that offer similar features and performance.

For gamers who require high-end performance, the Mi 11 Ultra might not be the best option due to its less powerful GPU compared to last year's gaming laptops. However, for users who need a laptop with impressive raw performance, the Mi 11 Ultra is certainly worth considering.

In terms of battery optimization, Xiaomi could have done better, and there are some minor issues with the keyboard feel. Nevertheless, these are relatively minor complaints in an otherwise excellent ultra-book.

Overall, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra is a solid ultra-book that offers impressive performance, premium build quality, and decent screen quality. While it falls short in terms of battery life and pricing, it's still worth considering for users who need a laptop with these features.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi guys this is ranjit and in this video let's do the review of this new xiaomi notebook pro 120 g yes i got the name right and again guys this is the g variant that means this comes with a dedicated uh gpu that's the nvidia mx550 gpu there is also one more model uh where you will have just uh uh it is known as the xiaomi notebook pro 120 that is without the dedicated gpu it comes with intel uh iris graphics but i feel that might get a slightly better battery life i've been actually testing this for over about seven eight days now so in this video i'll give you an idea overview about this and if you guys really just want to know what i feel about this laptop skip to the later part of the video where i'll actually show you what i like with this laptop what i didn't like with this laptop and overall my summary what do i feel about this one because certainly it's slightly pricey because generally with xiaomi i was also expecting that the pricing would be very very aggressive but that's not the case so let's have a closer look at this laptop now so guys here is the laptop and this is actually having a 14 inch screen and it's actually a 2.5 k screen and it's actually 120 hertz uh let me actually first give you physical orie and also it has the xiaomi branding over here the body is completely metallic we also have back lighting on this one not very powerful but yeah you have multiple levels of back lighting and you can also keep it on auto and you just close it like this and looking at the body this is that aluminum build quality and in fact this reminds me of the macbook pro series in fact this opening lip resembles start very much moving towards the pores and the brick already is fabulous excellent we have a headphone jack fortunately we do also have a hdmi output i believe it's hdmi 2.0 we also have a type c port this is actually a thunderbolt 4 port and you can also charge wire this one back actually uh some vents to dissipate the heat over here most of the heat has dissipated from here and we also have some vents here at the back of the laptop on this side we do have a usb type a phone and i like it because when i was gaming i had an old mouse i could plug it in and we also have one more thunderbolt 4 port over here and one more led light that just denotes its charging or something like that you can open the laptop with just a single hand like this and here if you notice this bar button it is having a fingerprint scanner so you just press it and it unlocks so that way it's good and build quality is solid on this laptop uh i haven't noticed any flex or anything so that way for a windows based laptop they have done a very good job coming to the processor used on this one we only have it in one video that's the core i5 but this is the latest 12th generation processor and this is actually the 12 40 12 450 h series of processor if i open the cpu z app i'll show you that and the trackpad feel is actually also very very good i was expecting that the trap part might be flaky or something no the trackpad performance is actually very very good and uh let me just zoom in a little bit here and as you can see it's the latest intel core i5 12 450 h again guys remember this is the head series the processor not the regular p or the u series of process and this is the latest 12th generation processor that you are getting it's a proper 8 core processor with 12 threads uh moving to the main board uh the main board is made by tati i it says and the memory is we are having 16 gigabytes of ram which is unfortunately uh lpddr5 ram which is actually very fast but the side pad no upgradeability or anything ram is soldered on this one uh graphics uh as this is the g edition i've told you it has the nvidia mx550 uh gpu the non g will just have the intel uhd graphics on this one and the graphic card has a built in ram of two gigabytes now let me actually also show you some of the benchmarks and here i was actually impressed guys let me just zoom out a little bit and first let's look at the cinebench r23 which shows you the cpu performance and i'll zoom in if you notice the multi-core performance is 9146 which is actually excellent excellent score for a core i5 based laptop just about last year also if you're looking even the core i seven were not able to achieve these results so in terms of performance it's very very good as i've told you this is the hit series of processor so that's why the performance is actually very very good on this laptop so that way it's very good even single core score is 1685 so if you are doing a lot of cpu tasks this laptop will do it very well uh to show you the geekbench score sidney core 1667 and multicore 8824 uh which is a very very healthy score guys in fact the macbook air m1 it is slightly beating that one uh for the gpu i also ran the cuda test and we got a healthy score of 3 uh 38146 so that way i would say the performance is really really good on this one and also in terms of specs it's actually having pretty good specs here on the screen are all the specs for this specific laptop the general performance of the laptop was good but uh i also did play some games on this one in fact overwatch i know it's not a very heavy game and slightly old but as you can see i could play it without any issues and i had set it to a max fps of 90 fps and it was closely hovering between 75 to about 90 fps and it played the game fine as you can see that was not an issue but after 15 minutes of playing the game i noticed that this area of the laptop particularly this area was getting actually pretty pretty hot and that is what i noticed with this laptop because it's having the head series of processor uh if you're not doing any work the fans don't ramp up but the moment you start doing some work slightly heavy work the laptop tends to get a little bit warm when i was using it on my lap but let me actually share what do i feel about this laptop now so guys uh what do i feel about this laptop let's break it down between what i like and what i did not like and i have actually made some notes when i go over them first let's talk about the things that i liked about this laptop and the first thing guys is the build quality as i've told you guys the build quality is amazing on this that's a full body this metallic aluminium and in fact if you just close it if you don't look at the xiaomi logo many will mistake this for a macbook pro uh that is how is good the build quality is it just feels very very solid in fact one of the best build qualities that i have seen on a windows laptop at this price point yes even dell asus etc at this price point don't get this good build quality so kudos to xiaomi for that i think so they spend a lot of money in terms of the build quality it has to be that way okay next thing i liked is again the speakers are actually pretty uh decently loud it's not macbook pro level or something like that but way better than many of the windows laptops that we get at this price point and certainly uh they're pretty loud so that way i like it yes could have been better with a deeper bass or something but again considering the many of the windows laptops that i have were tested earlier uh the speakers on this one are certainly a lot better and i didn't have to keep it at the max volume all the time even at about 16 volume it was decently loud next thing that i liked about this one is again the screen quality on this one uh let me just minimize this and you have already seen it's a 2.5 k screen that you're getting it's ips lcd screen that you're getting and the viewing angles because it's ips lcd is good so even for watching movies and stuff it's very good and again the icing on cake is that it's 120 hertz so refresh rate so whenever you're scrolling around moving around it feels a lot more smoother for example on the smartphone moving from that 60 hertz to 120 hertz it's the same experience so that way i liked it so uh there is one corner i'll talk about not a big con but yeah but now let's move to uh the general performance of this laptop as this is having with the coming with that mid-range gpu mx550 gpu uh i would say uh it could actually play some of the mid-level games for example as you saw that overwatch i could actually play so yes if you're occasionally gaming not at the highest setting obviously it can't but some of the older games at medium settings run fine with this one uh but uh moving to the processing power this is a good thing on this laptop but there is also a con about it i'll talk about in that con xiaomi decided to use a very powerful head series of processor it's the core i5 12th generation but this is the head series processor generally other vendors are using the p series of processor or the u series of presses generally the head series of processors are reserved for proper gaming laptop hence the raw performance on this one is actually really really good much better than standard core i5 laptops that you're getting uh but there is a con i'll talk about that later the fingerprint scanner uh within the power button works very well i did not have a problem i also like that it's having usb type-c again these are thunderbolt ports and you can charge from either one of them this one and this one and i did try charging this laptop with third-party pd chargers about 45 watts and it could easily charge this laptop so again you can carry up a power delivery charger and just charge this laptop and your smartphones also with the same so single charger uh that we are getting uh next thing is microsoft office and student is pre-installed on this laptop so you don't have to worry about that licensing issue and again uh this is a thing that i liked all variants of this laptop will come with 16 gigabytes of ram which is a lp ddr5 ram which is actually a very fast this lpddr5 ram is very very fast so but again the corners it's soldered you just can't upgrade it now let's move to the things that i did not like on this laptop and these can be a bummer the first thing is this one has a 56 watt r battery which would have been okay for a regular processor but as this is having the head series of processor which is very power hungry and also that uh mx 550 gpu the battery life that i'm getting on this one is below average in fact i would say i'm averaging just about three and a half hours of battery life to a max of about four and a half hours of battery if you're just watching sitting and watching videos you might get slightly better but again the battery life is strictly very very average on this laptop next thing is again uh this laptop also if you're not doing anything as of now right now it's silent you don't have to worry but even if you do slightly uh browsing let's say you have five six tabs running etc slide multitasking this laptop will definitely get a lot warmer i would say and if you're stressing it yes it does get uh hot quite a bit in fact while gaming i played game for about 20-25 minutes uh the area around f5 f4 f5 f6 key and the top of this was becoming super super hot so definitely can become hot to touch if you're pushing it off moving to the keyboard or the keyboard travel uh feel could have been uh slightly better i would say don't get me wrong it's not bad but again the feel could have been slightly better i would say it's not as polished as some of the lenovo and the uh what do you say asus laptops that we get but next thing is uh still we are getting a 720p webcam but again can't be too nitpicky because still many of the windows laptops are coming with 720p webcam and also the pricing in india with this uh and this gpu edition is almost 75 000 so it's at a higher price and this is not strictly a con this is slight nitpicking the maximum screen brightness though the screen is very good is just 300 nits and this is more than enough in indoor conditions also and outdoors also if it's not a very bright sunny day if you keep it at max brightness it's okay but on very sunny days if you want to use the laptop outdoors that 300 nits of brightness can be a slightly limiting factor they should have bumped it up to 315 nets or something like that but again this is a small net picking that up okay i wrote the summary so here is the summary of this laptop uh i would say overall a nice laptop the build quality is exceptionally good and feels very very premium the screen quality is also good but not that bright in strictly outdoor conditions but this laptop can get pretty hot quickly when you push it because of the head series of processor that xiaomi has chose but at the same time because of the head series of processor the raw performance of the laptop and cpu uh based applications is actually very very good but one thing i expected was a lot better battery life which is below average for a modern ultra book uh i frankly expected uh xiaomi to be a lot more aggressive and pricing of this one though the pricing is not too absurd but i expected the pricing could have been better considering it's a laptop from xiaomi and certainly they could have done better and also in terms of battery optimization they should have done it a lot better in fact uh the pricing of this edition that comes with mx 550 uh gpu is almost 75 000 and if you're a strict gamer then i would not recommend you this one because the last year's gaming proper gaming laptops you can get it around this price point and those certainly have a far better gpu like the 1050 or something like that so if you're a strict gamer then i would not recommend you this love but for what this laptop is it's a good laptop i would say i only wished uh the pricing would have been a little bit more aggressive anyways guys that's it my uh review of this laptop what do you feel about the same do let me know in the comment section below and guys if you're still not subscribed to my youtube channel hit that subscribe button this is ranjit and i hope to see you in my next video take care guyshi guys this is ranjit and in this video let's do the review of this new xiaomi notebook pro 120 g yes i got the name right and again guys this is the g variant that means this comes with a dedicated uh gpu that's the nvidia mx550 gpu there
