Microsoft Wireless Desktop 3000 Followup

The Microsoft Wireless Desktop 3000: A Comprehensive Review

I have been using this device for two weeks on my Windows PC, and I can confidently say that it has exceeded my expectations. The first thing I noticed about this device was its wireless functionality. I had a few devices going at the same time, otherwise I don't think you'd ever have any issue now. The other thing this mouse held up really well, no problems there. It's actually really nice with the volume buttons just the extra little things I did have a little bit of an issue with the function keys.

I do know if you can see this here you've got you know f1 f2 like normal but you've also got the different abilities for the keys to pull up you know open a folder mail you know send mail whatever spell check and they all work well. The problem I ran into is when I had to use a shift key I looked around and then I finally found the function lock. Almost wish these were I'm sure you could you can change it and everything but by default I would like these to be the F keys by default they're not they're just what they have labeled so not a big deal obviously not a problem once you find the function lock other than that no problem.

I really like the design of this mouse, it's really comfortable to use. It's really quiet, and the back is really nice. These feet are very durable, they've seemed to hold up well I've had some that they feel flimsy when you're typing on them I type fairly hard while I'm typing and they hold up very nicely and it doesn't move about at all.

As for battery life, these are the batteries that came with it when I installed them I don't know if I installed them on the video I don't remember but these are the batteries that came with it. The box says this could last up to 12 months because it does shut off by itself there's still good that still gives this little green indicator here when the mouse turns on. This actually this USB transceiver sits in there and shuts the mouse off when you pull it out it turns on and tells you it's good to go. It would be red if it was bad.

However, I'm not sure how long these batteries will last in my experience on the others using them ten hours a day four days a week or so I find that one battery will last about two to three weeks maybe a little bit longer. So two doublea's depending on now this is a newer Mouse maybe it's less power consuming I don't know but overall it's hard to say if they're going to last 12 months.

I think it's worth noting that the mouse is ambidextrous, so if you are left-handed and can't go with the traditional blue track Explorer mice that came out earlier this year, this is going to be your choice. You do have you know it's identical each side you've got a back button or forward button or however you assign it.

If I had to be picky about one thing, I like it back and forward on the same side as the Explorer has but I understand why they did that because you want to be able to use it for both right and left-handed. The other thing is I would have moved these buttons back maybe a little bit that's just my preference other than that I'm just being picky at this point.

Is there anything wrong with this mouse? No, really. I've been using it like I said for two weeks on my Windows PC and I've had no issues whatsoever. The design is very nice, the plastic is not cheap and flimsy thin glass it's really nice. There are some marks on it because it's got a glossy finish but overall really nice package.

Definitely check it out if you're in the market for a new wireless keyboard and mouse especially with the blue track technology. It definitely works well, and I believe it's around $60 which is very reasonable considering all the features it has. One thing to note is that some positive feedback on the unboxing video and Microsoft hardware products I really like them there.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi this is Aaron with solo tech today I have the follow-up on the Microsoft Wireless Desktop 3000 I've been using it for a week week and a half or so and maybe even two weeks at this point and really enjoy it really like it is holding up well keys keys feel really nice it has collected some dust here just from normal use a little bit of scuffing on the wrist the wrist rest here overall though it's a really nice setup and I believe the price I know the mouse by itself is like a $30 mouse the keyboard I think the setup together will be about $60 which is a really reasonable price for a wireless keyboard and mouse especially for blue tracks seeing how the entry price to a normal blue track Mouse can range from fifty to ninety dollars it's usually fifty sixty dollars from what I've seen and that's just for the mouse itself so here you're getting blue track technology which is the blue LED underneath here you can kind of see there it's a blue LED and because of the the wavelength of the light spectrum reflecting off the different surfaces you can see it there reflecting off different surfaces it is easily or Trax much better in different types of surface environments a lot of the demos they show it was granite that sort of thing my experience from this is I did some tests for interference in distance it says it can to read the back of that box says this can go up to 30 feet in my personal tests with that it will go up to 30 feet a little bit beyond and it still tracks well and that sort of thing I don't really see a need to do that but you certainly could use this on your on your lap if you'd like one of the lap tables or something and you want to use it on your television with whatever PC or Mac or whatever you're using it on se as a theater PC something like that it would certainly work well for that situation as far as distance I did experience a little bit of interference and that was only at my home when I was using it I tried it at work and at home when I was at work there was no interference from other wireless devices really I had my iPhone in my pocket I'm the other person I sit next to has an iPhone just normal cell phones around as far as wireless devices I'm the only one with the wireless set up zero interference and that and that sort of set up when I was at home I have a wireless BGN card for my PC I also have an iMac that also has the same BGN with a wireless mouse a Microsoft blue track mouse that I've shown you before the Explorer mouse that works fine I have a head interference issues with that I also had I have some other wireless devices like the Wii that sort of thing in the room that in a couple of my iPhone maybe I don't know if any of those will interfere the 2.4 gigahertz spectrum that this this operates it however it was only in that environment with a lot of wireless devices that I experienced any interference at all and this I had plugged in right next to the Wi-Fi USB adapter that I have going so I don't know if that played a big part of this or not excuse me I'm not sure if that's really what caused the interference or not as I moved it slightly closer it was no problem at all for most people I don't see this as being a problem I just happen to have a lot of wireless devices in a small area within 14 15 feet of each other so I don't know if that's maybe it as far as the keyboard goes I had zero interference if this if this is within three feet you won't have any interference issues at all and like I said I think it's only due to the many different wireless devices I have going otherwise I don't think you'd ever have issue now the other thing this is held up really well no problems there it's actually really nice with the volume buttons just the extra little things I did have a little bit of an issue with the function keys I don't know if you can see this here you've got you know f1 f2 like normal but you've also got the different abilities for the newer Mouse maybe it's less power consuming I don't know but overall it's hard to say if they're going to last 12 months I guess I could let you know eventually if it really lasts that long but I can tell you just from using them they last as long as any wireless mouse and you're not going to have an issue especially if you get some rechargeable batteries for it these are the included I think they're Energizer or something I think they yeah they're they included with this as far as economics go with the mouse I really like it it's very large it is ambidextrous so if you are left-handed and
