MSI PS42 Review - How's MSI's New Ultrabook

MSI's Latest UltraBook Venture: A Promise of Performance and Potential

MSI's latest ultrabook is a testament to their ongoing efforts to improve their laptops for various user segments, including content creators. The PS4-10M81 model, as it's known, boasts impressive specs that make it an attractive option for those in need of a powerful yet portable machine.

One of the standout features of this laptop is its performance. Powered by the latest Intel Core i7-85Y5U processor, which includes a 1.8 GHz base clock and a boost clock of up to 4.6 GHz, this ultrabook is capable of handling demanding tasks with ease. The processor's ability to deliver high-performance on demand makes it an ideal choice for content creators who require heavy processing power. Additionally, the laptop comes equipped with 16GB DDR4 RAM and a 512GB NVMe SSD, which provides ample storage space for files, programs, and applications.

In terms of display, the PS4-10M81 features a Whiskey Lake processor-based design that promises improved performance compared to its predecessor. However, it's worth noting that MSI still has some work to do in this department, as the laptop's build quality could be improved with more attention to detail. The keyboard and trackpad are also in need of refinement, which might detract from an otherwise excellent user experience.

Gaming is another area where the PS4-10M81 shines, thanks to its capable graphics card. The MX 250 GPU, coupled with 2GB of video memory, allows for smooth gameplay on high settings. While it may not be suitable for demanding games like Assassin's Creed Unity, it should be more than enough for casual gaming and other non-demanding applications.

The battery life is also a notable aspect of this ultrabook. With up to 10 hours of claimed battery life, MSI promises that the PS4-10M81 can last all day on a single charge. In reality, however, this claim seems somewhat exaggerated, as actual usage may vary depending on factors such as screen brightness and application usage.

Thermal management is another area where the PS4-10M81 excels. The dual fans and ventilation system work together to keep the laptop cool during intense use, even when performing tasks that would normally cause overheating in other laptops. This means that users can enjoy a comfortable working experience without worrying about excessive heat buildup.

Finally, there's the matter of pricing. The base variant of this ultrabook comes with 8GB RAM and a 256GB SSD for around $1,300, while the more expensive model we tested – featuring 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD – costs approximately ₹1,49,000.

In conclusion, MSI's PS4-10M81 is an impressive ultrabook that offers excellent performance, display quality, and battery life. While there are still some areas for improvement, such as the keyboard and trackpad, this laptop is well-suited for content creators who require a powerful yet portable machine. With its competitive pricing and range of configurations available, MSI's PS4-10M81 is definitely worth considering for those in need of an ultrabook that can handle demanding tasks with ease.

A Look at What's Missing from This Ultrabook

While the PS4-10M81 has many strengths, there are also some areas where it falls short. The most notable omission is the lack of a dedicated GPU, which might limit its performance in graphics-intensive applications. Additionally, the laptop's speakers could use some improvement to provide a more immersive audio experience.

Furthermore, MSI could have taken advantage of the opportunity to improve their RAM configuration by using dual-channel RAM instead of a single stick. This would have provided better performance and efficiency, particularly in resource-intensive applications like video editing and gaming.

Finally, there are also some aspects of the laptop's design that could be improved upon. The keyboard and trackpad, while functional, could benefit from some refinement to provide a more comfortable typing experience. Similarly, the build quality could use some attention to detail to ensure that the laptop feels premium in the hands.

Overall, MSI has made a solid effort with the PS4-10M81, but there's still room for improvement. By addressing these areas and refining their design, they can create an ultrabook that truly stands out from the competition.

Conclusion

In conclusion, MSI's PS4-10M81 is an impressive ultrabook that offers excellent performance, display quality, and battery life. While it may not be perfect – with some areas for improvement still to be addressed – this laptop is well-suited for content creators who require a powerful yet portable machine. With its competitive pricing and range of configurations available, MSI's PS4-10M81 is definitely worth considering for those in need of an ultrabook that can handle demanding tasks with ease.

The Future of MSI's UltraBook Venture

MSI has shown promising signs with their latest ultrabook venture, but there's still room for improvement. As they continue to refine their designs and address areas where they fall short, it will be interesting to see how this ultrabook evolves in the coming months.

In terms of future plans, MSI is likely to focus on building upon the success of the PS4-10M81. By continuing to improve their processor configurations, RAM options, and display quality, they can create an ultrabook that truly stands out from the competition.

Additionally, MSI may also consider expanding their range of ultrabooks to cater to different user segments. With the rise of cloud computing and remote work, there's a growing demand for portable and efficient laptops that can handle demanding tasks with ease.

Ultimately, the future of MSI's ultrabook venture will depend on their ability to innovate and refine their designs in response to changing market demands. By staying ahead of the curve and pushing the boundaries of what's possible, MSI can establish themselves as a leader in the laptop market for years to come.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enso here's the thing when you see a dragon logo on a laptop it's usually meant for heavy gaming but this one right here with the same kind of dragon logo pinches a different kind of territory now MSI is a household name when it comes to gaming laptops and it has not been long that the company decided to venture into our books territory their prestige lineup comprises entirely of ultrabooks and now there are quite a few ones out there and today we look at the ps4 to modern 8ra which is a refreshment of the ps4 - more than eight RB which came out last year the first impression that this laptop gives off is awesome it comes in a very sleek and compact box but doesn't really stand out from other ultrabooks but the fact that this one is an msi ultrabook is enough excitement with an all-metal bill and a sovereign MSI logo on top is sure typical Ultrabook but it looks a bit more classier and elegant if you ask me and this brushed texture on the front does not attract as much fingerprints as I thought it would so that's a good feature to this laptop also weighs very less about 1.2 kg and is pretty comfortable to carry around build quality though takes a slight hit the keyboard deck area is pretty sturdy but the lid does flex quite a bit port selection is pretty standard you get two USBs and HDMI and SD card slot and an audio check what's not worthy is you get two USB sees but it's a shame that none supports none of all three are charging though however there are these LED indicators for battery Wi-Fi and power when you open the laptop the first thing you'll notice is this fence or grills which you can easily mistake for the speakers I to first mistook it for speakers but they're actually located beneath both sides so this one they just seem like a strange design choice or ventilation hard to tell which you have a full size keyboard but without the number pad though they're a bit mushy for taste and with very less key travel typing doesn't feel as good as on some other ultrabooks but one good thing is that you get full sized arrow keys which are rare for ultrabooks another good thing is the backlighting it is only white in color but there are four levels to it and so this helps immensely however this is not a new feature by any means the trackpad 2 is too small for taste there isn't enough room to move around the only good thing about this is that it has Windows position drivers so tracking and gestures are fairly accurate plus you do get a fingerprint scanner right here which is a nice addition and that works pretty well to the PS photo lineup is also known for their good displays and upon first look it can appear so there are minimal bezels around the size making that display almost h2 edge but small bezels comes the awkwardly placed webcam however which points straight to your nose and the webcam quality is nothing to go on about anyways back to the display the full HD panel looks good I mean it does not look anything extraordinary but it's good nonetheless brightness is good enough at about 300 nits and dark scenes in movies are visible enough that you don't have to squint to see them and since it's a matte display it's pretty visible outdoors to the 14 inch display has enough crispness for good video and multimedia experience and the color range is also another plus point about the display here within a 10 100 % srgb and 72% Adobe RGB this one is a good machine for content creators as well but of course this is not the most ideal machine for that there are other laptops with much more color accuracy than this but still this one for what it packs is also good enough and one more thing you can change the color mode right from the desktop itself so that's another plus point the performance here is great you get the latest hñ intel i7 85 65 UV Skilling processors and these whiskey light processors are capable of delivering that higher performance on demand because the base clock remains at about 1.8 gigahertz while the boost clock can go up to 4.6 gig arts and apparently that can help during heavy workloads however I never really fit the difference because honestly you can't really tell even if this is a you serious processor for power efficiency it does it stopped quite well and you'll never feel that it's doing slow or something like that light in a teepee video editing and stuff runs quite well while a whole lot of tabs on Google Chrome is also not enough to slow it down there are slight in census of lags here and there but that is nothing beyond expectations now maybe it's partly due to its 16gb ddr4 M which is quite good for an ultrabook and also there are two slots of RAM in there but only one stick so if you want to upgrade your RAM you can however if they had made their M dual channel with 8gb RAM on each slot that would have been much better for performance video editing and gaming is also held by aesthetic graphics but of course it's nothing high-end just MX 250 with 2gb of video memory so when I say gaming don't expect anything high-end you'll be able to play csgo or dota2 or FIFA 19 on high settings and still get good frame rates games like for tonight do run at medium and you'll be able to play games like Assassin's Creed unity but that's about it but even so this is actually good enough for a non gaming laptop store is why is you have about 500 to LGV of nvme SSD which is pretty good because most older books shy out at 256 GB and this one doesn't and the transfer speeds are pretty decent as well so right here is the makings of a perfect laptop for content creators I didn't really feel this laptop struggle in the thermals department either during games and heavy workloads it does kind of get warm but heat management is really good thanks to its dual fans and this ventilation on the top when it does get hot it is concentrated towards the top vent so the keyboard area remains cool enough moving on to the battery you get a four cell 50 watt hour battery which claims up to 10 hours of battery life however as far as these claims from companies go that is not true at all during office workloads when your usage consists of normal spreadsheet and occasional web browsing it will last slightly over 7.5 hours with vigorous browsing and media consumption however you'll get close to 6 and if you're doing some heavy editing and stuff expect no more than 3 hours but still it will last a typical work day for you so that's still good enough so to sum up MSI's venture into ultra book trade already looks somewhat promising with this ps4 to modern 8ra it does improve slightly over the 8rp however there are still a lot of room for improvements the build quality needs work the keyboard and the trackpad needs improvement as well also I'd like this laptop better if it had dual channel RAM instead of just a single one and the speakers need a lot more improvement than anything else now the good things about this laptop include performance display battery life and overall design so overall this one is a good laptop but maybe because it's an MSI laptop I had my expectations a bit too high you know because well it's an MSI laptop after all but after using it all I can say is that MSI has not on as good of a job with this one as they do with their gaming rigs but still I'm pretty positive that MSI will improve in this sector as well the base variant of this laptop which comes with 8gb RAM and TV stories cost about $1,300 but there are a lot of configurations available and prices are set accordingly however this particular model right here with D 16 GB RAM and 5 to 8 GB storage cost about one lakh forty nine thousand in a path and as far as prices of order books go I think this one is pretty justified however if this is too much money to spend there's also a smaller sibling the ps4 to more than 8 M oh that one doesn't have a dedicated GPU and is an eye-fi model but most of the things remain the same and that comes at a price of rupees one lakh fifteen thousand so strictly speaking these msi ultrabooks are not the best ones out there but they certainly get the job done and that was it for our review of the msi ps4 - more than eight are a thank you for watching namasteso here's the thing when you see a dragon logo on a laptop it's usually meant for heavy gaming but this
