Our Just Announced: The Honor V10 and Its Iterative Update to the 6x
Recently, we have some exciting news from the world of mobile technology. Our Just Announced: The Honor V10 and its iterative update to the 6x has just been announced, and it's clear that this device is going to make a name for itself in the US market. The Honor V10 looks pretty similar to the 7x on the outside, but under the hood, there's a lot more going on. It's using Wally's flagship Kirin 970 octa-core processor and a 12-core Mali G72 GPU, which means it's going to tear through any multi-threaded workload that you throw at it.
This powerful processor is paired with six gigs of RAM and 128 gigs of storage, which is standard for the device. However, these specs are more commonly found on flagship devices like the Huawei Mate 10. The Honor V10's naming scheme has also been explained by the company. Apparently, "Oh That'd be in the name" stands for "View," and the five-point-nine-nine-inch 18x9 display symbolized a new view for both the consumer and the company. Seeing as the Honor 7x also has an 18x9 display, this naming scheme might have caused some confusion.
Despite its powerful specs and innovative design, the Honor V10's screen does look a bit strange. The 5-point-nine-nine-inch 18x9 display is certainly big, but it's not without its drawbacks. One of the biggest issues with larger screens is the battery life. In this case, the Honor V10's battery is packing 37.15 milliampere-hour capacity, which should help last a full day and possibly more. However, we'll need to do some more in-depth testing to confirm this.
The cameras on the Honor V10 are also significantly improved over the 7x. It features dual 16 and 20-megapixel shooters with an ultra-wide aperture range, allowing for nice depth of field shots. The front-facing camera is also quite good, with a resolution of 13 megapixels. The cameras come equipped with all sorts of fancy effects, including moving pictures, monochrome slow-motion, and more. We haven't had enough time to really test out the capabilities of the cameras yet, but at first glance, it seems like they're capable of producing some great shots.
The I/O on the Honor V10 is also quite impressive, with a USB-C port, a rear-firing speaker, front-facing fingerprint sensor, and a headphone jack. The headphone jack is particularly rare for flagship devices these days. Additionally, the device comes equipped with dual SIM trays and a micro SD card slot, allowing users to expand their storage capacity as needed.
The Honor V10 will be running on EMUI 8.0, which is based on Android 8. This means that users won't have to worry about missing out on the latest and greatest features of Android. The device will also be available in navy blue and midnight black colors. Finally, we're expecting the Honor V10 to launch in Q1 of 2018, but no official pricing or availability details have been announced yet.
