I'm Not Sure How I'm Going to Show You Guys This But...
As I prepare for my upcoming trip to CES, I wanted to share with you guys what I've got packed into my bag. It's a lot of stuff, so bear with me as I take it out one by one.
First up, we have a bunch of cables - the power adapter for my MacBook, power cords, and that kind of thing. I also have a few headsets because I want to be able to plug in while I'm at the show and make sure everything is working properly. For example, when I hook up my Zoom H1, I need to get the audio levels right and monitor everything.
I've also got a 30-pin dock connector for charging my iPhone. And, of course, I have a battery charger for my camera - it's always good to be prepared in case I need to charge up quickly when I'm back at my hotel room.
Next, we have an extension cable for the MacBook. If I need to get far away from my power outlets, this is useful. I also have a little USB adapter that fits into a pen-like device - it's always good to have extra adapters on hand.
I've got a load of business cards, too, because why not? And, just for fun, I've brought my iPod along with me. It's tiny and doesn't take up much space in this bag, which has lots of compartments.
One of the things that's really useful about this bag is that it's got a micro SD card adapter. I always carry around extra memory cards because you never know when you might need them - and it's especially important if you're traveling to different countries where compatibility can be an issue.
I've also got some batteries on hand, including an extra battery for my Zoom H1 which lasts about 3 or 4 months. And, just in case, I have a little emergency kit that includes a charger and a sync cable for my iPhone.
There's also a cloth and a few random items like body caps - it's all just kind of stuff that I've accumulated over the years.
Now, let's talk about some of the more important gear I've got packed. I always carry an 8-gig SD card with me because you never know when you might need to capture more footage or photos. And, if I'm at a show where the venue doesn't have an SD card slot on either side of my MacBook, this adapter allows me to plug in and sync my files via USB.
I also have a body cap for my camera lens - it's useful for swapping lenses or taking them off for whatever reason. And, finally, I've brought along another micro SD card adapter because I had one laying around anyway.
That's about it - I think. There might be more stuff in the bag that I've forgotten to mention... but I'm not really sure. One thing I do know is that I'll be at CES in a week and a half, and I want to know what you guys would like to see me cover.
Last year, I focused mostly on phones, with a little bit of coverage of tablets. But CES has so much stuff - tons of TVs, all sorts of phones and tablets, gaming gear... the list goes on. So, I'm really curious to know what you'd like to see more of while I'm there.
Do you want me to focus on specific products or topics? Are there any particular types of videos you'd like me to make? Let me know in the comments below - and don't forget to give this video a thumbs up if you enjoyed it!
WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey guys this is Austin and today I'm here with a video going over what all I'm going to be taking with me to CES uh so if you guys didn't know I will be going to CES this year I did go last year but it was kind of I kind of nbed it up but this year I plan on uh doing a little bit better got some better gear and all that kind of stuff so I figure while I was packing it all up making sure everything would fit I would go ahead and make a video for you guys so the first thing is is the bag this is a k Kata Kata I have no idea how to say it but it's a Kata 22 bag I was actually talking to Larry Greenberg on Twitter the other day he recommended this I picked it up and have been very very pleased with it it's a really well-built bag got lots of neat little features tons of room all that kind of stuff so let's go ahead and just open it up and show you guys it's a really neat little design because you can wear it as a backpack which is what I'll probably be doing but you can also do it like as a sling and you also have these two quick release snaps where you can get at your camera you can put it on either side it's a pretty versatile bag I like it quite a bit so let's go and open this up here and the first thing is is going to be my camera uh so the camera I'm going to be using this year is the same as I did last year it is a Nikon D3100 in fact let me take the lens hood and put it back on properly here uh but yeah this is going to be my Nikon D3100 uh same camera I used last year but I am going to be primarily using the 50mm lens 50mm 1.8 uh I've also got another lens but I imagine I'll probably be using this for the most part I also do have a battery grip on here uh so as you guys can see right here I have a pair of batteries inside uh when I'm on this show floor for like 6 Seven 8 hours a day filming video and everything uh I mean it's not a huge deal to swap batteries out but it's nice to just have them both on the battery I mean both in the camera so I can film and film and not have to worry about it as far as the memory card I do have primarily a transcend 16 gig card and I do have another 8 gig card in my bag so that's the camera uh beneath this there's a little pouch so if it's raining or whatever I can cover my bag up but not a big deal so just stand this closed and SP it around to this side where I have a couple of other things here so yeah I apologize in advanced guys this is a little bit of a boring video but figured some of you guys might be interested uh so right here is my microphone this is going to be the zoom H1 uh so what I'll do is actually I can it's it's not in the carrying pouch cuz I got to take the wind screen off but I guess when I get on the plane everything I'll do that but comes with a pair of little accessories here so if I want I can screw on this little handle so for example if I wanted to interview somebody I could kind of hold it like that without holding the mic it's kind of kind of neat but I'll be taking that but for the most part I will be taking this which is just a little tripod screw so let me just screw it on here and basically what allows me to do is mount it to my camera and it's all crooked and everything but trying to do this on video that but so that's kind of what it's going to be looking like so I'll be able to have some good audio along with good video while I'm there so kind of toss this all off to the side and keep going underneath here we have another lens uh this is the this is the kit lens it's just a uh 18 to 55 it's not particularly great uh but I did use it at the show last year and it's nice for a couple things it's 18 to 55 is a pretty uh nice Zoom range but it has vibration reduction and because pretty much all my videos going to be shot handheld I don't want it to be all shaky and stuff so I'll probably be using a mix between this and the 50 mm so there's that so anyway that's enough with this side um in fact I'm go ahead and open up the back and hopefully this is all on hopefully you guys can see all this right I'm filming this with my iPhone so it's kind hard to see but in the back I have my MacBook Air 11 in uh if you guys have seen I've done a review on this I absolutely love my MacBook it's a Fant probably one of no not probably it is the best laptop I've ever had fantastic design pretty much can't say enough about it I love it and it fits nicely into this back pouch so while I'm there I can keep it with me for example if I'm you know near Wi-Fi or I also have my iPhone I think I mentioned that I'm filming with the iPhone right now but if I need to like up upload videos or whatever I'll see if I can like use a hotspot or if not I can just edit and see what I can do with this so I got everything with me so if I need to film something I can uh up top here got a couple things I don't know how I'm going to be able to show you guys this but I'll see what I can do uh so up top here we've got a bunch of stuff I'll just take it out one by one uh we've got ton of cables just the power adapter for the MacBook oh going to have power and cables and that kind of stuff got a some headbuts these are just what I'm going to do is I can plug it in while I'm at the show uh for example when I hook up my zoom H1 just make sure I got the audio levels right monitor it kind of thing 30 pin 30 pin dot connector for charging my iPhone I've got battery charger for my camera so when I get home from uh I back get back to the hotel room I can charge my batteries up get all set up uh the extension cable for the MacBook if I need to get far away from my power outlets uh we've got a pen like here's uh the little USB adapter for the iPhone got a load of business cards my iPod just because it's tiny and there's no reason not to take it and go into this little pouch if you guys can see here again I'm sorry it's the video quality is kind of bad but the this bag has so many compartments all right so let's see here we have a micro SD card adapter it's always good to have extra of those a random little USB another 4 gig USB I keep these around just because I don't know I've got some batteries I've got an extra battery for my zoom H1 which thing like lasts like 3 or 4 months not a battery but whatever and we also have this little emergency little kit where if I need to I can charge or sync my iPhone pretty neat little thing I actually got this at CES last year so that's about it for there and I have a couple more compartments told you guys this bag was massive uh I'm not even going to open this up this is just like random like here's a cloth and just like random little bits of stuff then body caps that kind of stuff and over here is more of my important stuff so I've got that 8 gig SD card always I'm always super paranoid about like an SD card breaking or running out of memory or something and last thing I want do is be over there with tons of stuff to film and like have some bad equipment and mess me up uh here's a little uh USB uh so it just plugs into my MacBook since the 11in doesn't have an SD card slot on either side uh this allow me to just be via USB to plug in a uh an SD or a Micro SD so I can handle the everything from the my camera as well as the zoom Zoom H1 because if I bring this back over here Zoom H1 takes micro SD cards so I need to kind of sync the audio and uh yeah very exciting very interesting stuff also do have uh the body cap for my camera if I want to swap lenses or take them off for whatever reason and another micro SD card adapter because I had it laying around anyway guys I think that's about it just probably more stuff in the bag but I've forgotten uh but anyway guys I wanted to go ahead and ask you a question of course I'll be inv and for CES in a week week and a half I don't know exactly when it starts but uh I'll be there pretty soon so I want to know guys what kind of footage and you know coverage do you guys want to see me do uh last year I mostly focused on the phones I did a little bit on the tablets and that kind of stuff but of course CES has so much stuff it's not even funny I mean there's tons of TVs everywhere there's like I said phones tablets uh gaming stuff all that kind of stuff so I'm really curious to know what do you guys want to see while I'm there what kind of you know videos whatever you want want to see me make because I plan on while I'm there filming about as many videos as I possibly can uh so yeah guys definitely be sure to leave me some comments and stuff let me know what you think and of course if you enjoyed this video give it a thumbs up for this and as always guys I will catch you next timehey guys this is Austin and today I'm here with a video going over what all I'm going to be taking with me to CES uh so if you guys didn't know I will be going to CES this year I did go last year but it was kind of I kind of nbed it up but this year
