Asus ROG Spatha Wireless Mouse Review

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enthis is the Rog spara a top end wireless gaming mouse from Asus Rog featuring a fully wireless receiver and topend performance this is one of the most beautiful mice I've ever seen but is it the best mouse out there and ultimately is it worth buying over the last 2 weeks I found out so then the Rog spara a mouse with a very interesting name but an equally as interesting design this thing stands out and it's a wireless mouse which utilizes a wireless dock charger so this is both the wireless receiver and the way to charge the mouse which is very clever cuz it means you always have a topped up wireless mouse now the design itself is really attractive in my opinion it's quite an aggressive look but it's one that I really like it's a solid metal build which does make it quite heavy but it also means it's very robust the left hand side of the mouse features these cool fractured like buttons but these do use a plastic rather than a metal for the buttons on the top of the mouse you'll find the Republic of Gamers logo you'll find your left and right clicks and these use onrun switches you'll find your middle scroll wheel a DPI button backwards and forwards as well as the micro usbb connection note that the backwards and forwards buttons I don't think are that well placed on the right hand side of the mouse you'll find a very comfortable area to place your pinky finger and the finger next to it seriously this is actually a really good solution for right-handed people though left-handed people may struggle on the back of the mouse you'll find the 8200 DPI laser sensor you can actually take the back off as well and then you can replace the switches so they are on run switches but you can actually replace them for different ones or if they break which is actually a really nice feature though is probably one most of us won't use and overall it's a very heavy design this thing weighs over 170 G and this is something that a lot of people probably won't get on with but for use it is a really nice accurate comfortable Mouse to use because it's wireless you're completely untethered and I'm very pleased to say that I didn't notice any difference in wide mode and wireless mode though do note that the polling rate is only limited to 1,000 HZ if you using this in Wireless mode and 2,000 if you're using this in wired mode though I doubt anyone would really notice too much of a difference ergonomically this is a really nice comfortable Mouse to use but that weight does have an impact if you're not used to it or you actively don't like a heavier Mouse you're probably not really going to get on with this so well and because the overall design is so different it takes a lot of getting used to and those buttons on the side personally I think they're probably a bit more sty over substance in the case that if you want to use one or two buttons you can learn the placement but if you really want to utilize all of them I actually think it's quite difficult to do so and a lot of people will probably be better off with a slightly different Mouse if they want to use all the buttons to get the most out of the mouse and those buttons you're going to want to use the Rog software and this Armory software does the job but when I started using this this was Alpha software and I've actually only recently updated the software and in all honesty I don't actually think it's made anything any better and has actually introduced a few bugs that I didn't have before now one thing that is a common thing with this mouse is that because there are so many buttons you have a lot of customizability and this is where the software allows you to do this it's not the most unique bit of software out there I mean there's plenty of other different mice manufacturers that have similar software that do similar things but this one it's actually fairly straightforward to use and despite the fact that it is slightly slow there are plenty of options here and I think most people will be happy with the amount of customization you get this of course also extends to the RGB Lighting on the mouse you can customize the three zones to be separate or to be synced and you have a wide array of effects so if you do want a static color so just red you can do that on everything but if you want to mix things up a little bit more you can have things like hair trigger so as soon as you tap the mouse the lights come on and then they slowly fade away or you can just customize each Zone and have a completely wack color scheme and you can save these to different profiles as well one major thing that I did find with the software with this latest version is that if I change the liftoff distance to something a bit lower then the mouse quite frankly just goes a bit weird and the mouse actually doesn't stay still when I let it go and I can verify that this is a software issue because I didn't have it on the previous version and so I wouldn't necessarily say this is a major flaw as long as it's fixed and overall this mouse has been a pleasure to use but it's really expensive this thing is more expensive than some of the best mechanical keyboards out there and yes you get a nice cool carrying case to take it around with you you get some spare switches and you get a bag of goodies with it as well but even with its Rock Solid construction it's really nice battery life I didn't find it run out once but like to say I did keep it sort of topped up I don't think it really justifies the price it's a quality Mouse but personally I wouldn't say it's that much better than its competition if at all and its competition yes a lot of it is wide mice but it's less than half the price I think that in order to sell something for such a large amount of money it really does have to be that much better than its competition and personally I don't really think this achieves it if you look at the RG range they've got things like the Rog Swift monitor range and these are arguably the best monitors in its class and they can justify the extra money but for this mouse I don't think it fits into the same category and while it's a really really nice Mouse I don't think it quite justifies that expense which is why it wins the top performer award if you really like the design I think you're going to get on with it very well but for most people I'd probably recommend spending less and getting something that represents better value for money and so then a massive thank you for checking out this video as always a
