**New Year's Looks to Try This Year**
As the clock strikes midnight on New Year's Eve, many of us look back on the past year and think about how we want to evolve our style for the year ahead. For this year, I'm excited to share three different looks that I've been experimenting with, from sleek and chic to eclectic and playful.
**Look 1: Sleek and Chic**
For my first look, I wanted to create a sleek and sophisticated outfit perfect for a New Year's party. I started by pairing nude shoes, which added a touch of elegance to the overall look. To complement this neutral base, I chose an envelope clutch that was DIYed at Mr. Cate HQ, where we can get all sorts of creative projects done. This look is all about keeping it simple and chic, with a focus on clean lines and minimal embellishments.
I opted for a nude lip color to complete the look, which was achieved using black seed dry oil to tone down frizz and add shine to my hair. I then used an elastic band to pull back my hair into a low ponytail, securing it with bobby pins and leaving just a hint of stray hair framing my face. The overall effect is sleek and sophisticated, perfect for a New Year's party.
**Look 2: Kim Kardashian Inspired**
For my second look, I wanted to pay homage to one of my favorite celebrities, the one and only Kim Kardashian. I decided to create a signature Kim K-inspired look that's both chic and edgy. To start, I pulled back my hair into a low center part, which adds a touch of sophistication to the overall look.
I used an elastic band to secure my hair in place, leaving just the tips framing my face. Next, I applied a brown lip color using the Lime Crime Velveteen lipstick, which adds a subtle pop of color to the outfit. Finally, I added some metallic accents with a chain necklace and a few beauty marks made from confetti pieces.
**Look 3: Eclectic and Playful**
For my final look, I wanted to create an eclectic and playful outfit that's perfect for celebrating New Year's Eve. I started by pairing a flared skirt with polka dots and ruffles, which adds a touch of whimsy to the overall look. To balance out the more feminine top half, I chose a slouchy sweater in a muted color that complements the plum tones in my outfit.
I added some dark Navy tights to keep my legs warm on a chilly winter night, and paired them with a military-inspired jacket that adds a touch of edge to the look. To complete the outfit, I wore a fringe clutch and a fun chain necklace that matches the metallic accents in my shoes.
**Final Thoughts**
As we bid farewell to another year and welcome a new one, I hope these three looks inspire you to experiment with your style and try something new. Whether it's sleek and chic or eclectic and playful, there's no rule book when it comes to dressing up for New Year's Eve – have fun with it! So go ahead, try on some new pieces, take risks, and show the world what you're working with this year.
**Bonus Tip: DIY Make-Up**
One of my favorite things about getting ready for a night out is experimenting with different make-up looks. This season, I'm loving the metallic trend that's taking over social media. To achieve this look at home, start by applying a dark lip color using Lime Crime's Wicked lipstick.
Next, add some subtle shimmery accents to your eyes using a metallic eyeshadow palette. Finally, finish off the look with a few confetti beauty marks scattered around your face – it adds a touch of whimsy and fun to any look. And don't forget to have fun with it!
