Official Nexus 4 Wireless Charger Unboxing + Test

The Nexus 4 Wireless Charger: An Unboxing Review

As I began to unbox the Nexus 4 wireless charger, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. The device itself is quite small and compact, making it easy to fit into one's hand. It has a rubberized feel to it, which provides a comfortable grip and prevents the phone from slipping out of place. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the charger comes with a piece of tape attached to it, which seems to be intended for securing the device in place.

The unboxing process itself was quite straightforward, and I was able to easily remove the plastic cover on top of the charger using my trusty unboxing knife. Once removed, I pulled out the quick start guide and limited warranty information, which I promptly put back into their respective slots as they were a bit too boring to bother with. Alongside these documents, I found the micro USB cable and wall adapter, both of which seemed to be identical in design and functionality.

It's worth noting that my experience with Nexus products has been marred by an abundance of dust and dirt. It seems that this device is no exception, as I noticed a small amount of debris stuck to the top of the charger. However, after a quick close-up inspection, I was able to remove the offending particles without any issues. The overall design of the Nexus 4 wireless charger is quite sleek and modern, making it a visually appealing addition to one's smartphone.

One question that I had lingering in the back of my mind was whether or not this charger would work effectively with the official bumper case. After all, the Nexus 4 has been known to be quite slippery in the past, and I wasn't sure if the charger would be able to provide sufficient traction. In order to test this hypothesis, I carefully placed the charger on top of the phone's original casing, which surprisingly fit snugly onto the device.

Next, I decided to plug the Nexus 4 wireless charger into a power source and run some tests. First, I placed it in a relatively high position above the charging surface, but unfortunately, this resulted in no charge being delivered. Conversely, placing the charger at a low angle or directly on top of the phone yielded the same disappointing results. However, when positioned precisely in the middle, I was thrilled to discover that the charger began to work as expected.

To confirm my findings, I repeated the test with the official bumper case attached, and I'm happy to report that it worked just as well as without it. The key takeaway from this exercise is that the Nexus 4 wireless charger does indeed require a precise positioning in order to function effectively. If you plan on using this device with the bumper case, be sure to position it squarely in the middle of the phone's surface.

In conclusion, my experience with the Nexus 4 wireless charger has been largely positive. The device is compact and well-designed, providing a comfortable grip that prevents the phone from slipping out of place. While there were some initial doubts regarding its compatibility with the official bumper case, I'm thrilled to report that it works seamlessly when positioned correctly. Overall, this device has earned my seal of approval, and I would highly recommend it to anyone in the market for a reliable wireless charger.
