The Controversy Surrounding Face ID: A Practical Test
Face ID has been a subject of controversy and debate among people, with many worrying about the privacy concerns it poses. However, what I care about is how well it actually works. In this video, I decided to put Face ID to the test in various real-world scenarios to see if it can accurately recognize my face and unlock my phone.
I started by testing Face ID in different lighting conditions, such as daylight, reading glasses, sunglasses, and even dark glasses. To my surprise, it worked flawlessly in all these situations. I walked, ran, and even rode a bike while wearing various hats and wigs, and Face ID still managed to recognize me every time.
I also wanted to test how well Face ID works on people with different skin tones and features. My friend Thunder and I are polar opposites in terms of our skin color and facial structure, but we thought it would be an interesting idea to see if Face ID can distinguish between us. We tried using each other's faces as ours, and the results were astonishing. The iPhone 10's Face ID system was able to recognize me even when I wore Thunder's face, and vice versa.
Another scenario I wanted to test was how well Face ID works on people who haven't used their phone for a long time. Since it had been six months since I last used my phone, I thought it would be interesting to see if Face ID can still recognize me after such a long period of inactivity. The answer was yes, Face ID still worked perfectly even though I hadn't used the phone for that long.
However, there is one scenario where Face ID seems to struggle: when it comes to twins or people with similar facial structures. In this video, we saw a video where two people had identical facial features and were able to fool Face ID into thinking they were the same person. This highlights one of the potential drawbacks of Face ID: its inability to distinguish between identical twins.
Finally, I wanted to test how well Face ID works when it comes to changes in appearance, such as growing a beard or getting a tattoo. The iPhone 10's Face ID system is designed to compensate for these changes by adjusting the recognition threshold accordingly. As my friend Thunder pointed out, this means that if you grow a beard at the appropriate time, Face ID should be able to recognize you even with your new facial hair.
Overall, I was impressed with how well Face ID works in various real-world scenarios. It's clear that Apple has put a lot of thought into designing an accurate and reliable facial recognition system. However, there are still some limitations and potential drawbacks to consider, such as the inability to distinguish between identical twins.
