The Book Buying Tag: A Personal Account

The creator of this video has decided to participate in the book buying tag, brought to you by Megan Olivier. The goal of this tag is to share one's book buying habits and provide insights into their reading preferences. The creator begins by sharing that they have been using a handy dandy notebook to track their book purchases.

Question Number One: Where Do You Buy Your Books From?

The creator states that they primarily buy books from three stores: Amazon, Walmart, and Target. They explain that Amazon is always on top of their list due to its convenience and wide selection. Walmart is also a favorite, thanks to its competitive prices, and Target offers a great mix of new releases and bestsellers.

Question Number Two: Do You Ever Pre-Order Books?

The creator reveals that they have started pre-ordering books in the past year. They mention that this practice helps them stay on top of their reading list and ensures they receive the latest releases before they become available to the general public. The creator explains that they pre-order books online via Amazon and plan to read each book within a specific timeframe, starting from January.

Question Number Three: How Many Books Do You Buy Per Month?

The creator shares that they aim to limit their monthly purchases to between 5-10 books. They mention that this self-imposed restriction helps them avoid overbuying and maintain a more manageable reading list. The creator expresses that if they exceed the recommended number, they will not be happy with themselves.

Question Number Four: Do You Use Your Local Library?

The creator proudly states that they use their local library regularly. They mention that this practice helps reduce the environmental impact of buying physical copies and allows them to access a vast collection of books for free. The creator also mentions that some of their favorite books are available in digital format through the library's e-book platform.

Question Number Five: Do You Keep Your Red and TBR Pile Together on the Same Bookshelf?

The creator explains that they somewhat keep their hardback reds and paperbacks separated on different bookshelves. They mention that this organization system helps them quickly identify which books are in each category. The creator also notes that having separate shelves for each type of book makes it easier to find specific titles when browsing through their collection.

Question Number Six: Do You Plan to Read All the Books That You Own?

The creator shares that they have recently gone through their bookshelves and removed many books they knew they would not read. They explain that this process has given them a sense of relief, as it allows them to focus on the books that truly interest them. The creator suggests that others should consider doing the same, getting rid of unread books to make room for new additions.

Question Number Seven: What Do You Do with All the Books That You Own That You Feel Will Never Be Read?

The creator mentions that they give away or donate books they know they will never read. They explain that these books often end up in good hands, either through online communities, friends, or local charities. The creator also notes that some books might be donated to Goodwill, where they can still support a good cause.

Question Number Eight: Have You Ever Donated Books?

The creator states that they have been donating books for as long as they can remember. They mention that this practice not only helps them declutter their collection but also supports the local community. The creator expresses gratitude for having the opportunity to share their love of reading with others.

Question Number Nine: Have You Ever Been on a Book Buying Ban?

The creator reveals that they have attempted a book buying ban in the past, but it didn't quite work out as planned. They mention that this experience taught them the importance of setting realistic limits and finding alternative ways to manage their reading list. The creator admits that they are currently not participating in a strict book buying ban but rather exploring more flexible approaches.

Question Number Ten: Do You Feel That You Buy Too Many Books?

The creator shares that they have been doing better this year, sticking to their self-imposed limit of 5-10 books per month. However, they admit that there was one instance last year when they briefly exceeded the recommended number. The creator emphasizes that it's essential to be mindful of spending habits and make intentional purchasing decisions.

The Book Buying Tag Conclusion

In conclusion, the creator shares their thoughts on the book buying tag and encourages others to participate in this fun and insightful activity. They express appreciation for having a community that understands the joys and challenges of collecting books. As the video comes to an end, the creator bids farewell and invites viewers to join them next time for another engaging conversation about reading and literature.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enyou're about to get another tag video whoops H everyone so yes another tag video this today's tag is brought to you by Megan Olivier who created and also tag me in the book buying tag basically a tag about your book buying habits and I thought it's the beginning of the new year let's see how I'm fairing off with my book buying um stuff so let's do this thing question number one is where do you buy your books from I'd say I buy them primarily at three places number one Amazon I'm always on Amazon number two Walmart Walmart Walmart has great Book prices and number three Target so those are the three stores I buy from primarily question number two is do you ever pre-order books and if so do you do this in store or online um I do asked me last year I always said no but this year I have I'm carrying this handy dandy thing and I have every book I need to pre-order and then I plan to read that month in this so like for January you see all of them are pretty much all of them are pretty much check marked um for pre-order so I do pre-order now just so I can be um on top of things and MoneyWise and all that kind of other stuff wise that's what I do and I do it online via Amazon push number three is on average how many books do you buy a month now since I said I'm using this handy daddy notebook feel like Blues clothes every time I say it let's see January I bought 1 two 3 four five five six books February I'm slated to buy about four books March only one so it's really up to this now I'm trying not to deviate from this at all because cuz like I said I'm trying not to buy as much so I'd say anywhere from the range of 5 to 10 that's what I'm keeping at this year I'll be happy with that if I go over 10 I will not be happy question number four do you use your local library yes I do use my local library in fact I just checked out a book and it's called the circle by Dave Edgars and I hope to get to this one soon but I don't know but I will say I keep this in my purse and every time I'm out at Target or Walmart and I see a book that's very interesting to me that I really want to buy I always say let me write that down first and to see if the library has it and more often than that they do so it saves me from buying that book that I may have not may or may not have liked and I need to get it from the library so I love my local library number five if so how many books can you slash do you borrow at a time I'm I'm very good with the library I used to get like six at a time and the library only really let you borrow books at like two weeks at a time so I only try to borrow at most like two or three and some sometimes I will renew it and all that kind of stuff so yeah question number six is what is your opinion on library books I love library books I think they're a good way to try them before you buy them almost so I've found plenty of books I've loved that I've got from the library specifically I read the duff by qu kler through the library beauty queens by Li bra through the library I read where you go bernardette by Maria simple through the library I read what else have I read through the library I don't know but I've read a lot of books I say defitely say if you're hesitant about a book that you want to buy but you're like I'm not sure if I'll like it check your library first and more than likely a lot of people say I go to my library and check well if your library has online thing and you can do an online catalog usually if you're living within a city that has multiple libraries if it's at one Library if you just a click of a button can transfer it right over to your library and they will let you know via email when up book is ready for you to pick up here's your library guys libraries are very beneficial and not a lot of people use them and I think they should and I think libraries can really help out so use them guys question number seven is how do you feel about charity shop slse secondhand bookstores um I'm guessing this means like how do you feel about like thrift stores kind of Goodwill books I'm totally okay with them I bought a lot of books from Goodwill and thrift stores and I will continue to do that you can find some of the best quality books through the thrift store because usually people throw away books that are just like I've never read them whatever so you can find really great books question number eight is do you keep your red and TBR pile together on the same bookshelf or not and O good question I do somewhat I keep all my hard back to be Reds on a one shelf in particular section and keep all my paperbacks on a kind of shelf to be particular question number nine is do you plan to read all of the books that you own this is a good question I've kind of rifled through my bookshelves the past couple weeks and I've taken a lot of books out there that I know that I'm not going to read like I look at them and I'm like why did I buy that because I'm probably not going to read it so yeah I'm giving them to friends and other stuff so all the books that are on my shelf right now are books I do plan to read and it's not that many so I don't have that many unread books like I don't look at my bookshelf and go wow but now that I've taken all the ones out that I know I'm not going to read I feel a big sense of relief from that so I'd suggest you do that if you guys are book holders like myself that just like to keep books and books get rid of the books that you know you're not going to read I know you've got something on your shelf that you know you're not going to read I know question number 10 is do you what do you do with all the books that you own that you feel will never read SL felt you didn't enjoy this kind of ties in I should known I give them away I will give them to friends I will more than likely give them to Goodwill because they're going to a good cause so that's what I do more more than likely and question number 11 have you ever donated books yes all the time question number 12 is have you ever been on a book buying ban I tried let's just be honest that's not going to happen not going to happen I mean I'm right now I'm not about a book buying band I'm on a book limited kind of buy and the last question is do you feel that you buy too many books last year yes this year I am doing amazing I have been right on track with the books I need to buy and I'm not I've been tempted once just once and that's when I wrote down the book I'm like let me see if my library has it and it did on a good track right now so yay all the questions for the book buying tag I will tag some people sure I tag Jamie and Jeff over at AR book I will tag Reagan from Peru's project I will tag Beth from be J 327 I will tag chapter Stacks if she wants to do this I will tag um Jessica from Price's Wong Christine from P banana books Jesse just the reader AR betet all you lovely people el lizy books do it do this tag I would love to know
