**Paul's Hardware December 2018 Monthly Build Article**
---
### Introduction
Welcome back, guys! How’s it going? Today, we’re diving into Paul’s Hardware for his monthly build showcase. This time around, we’re not just building a system—we’re giving it away during a charity livestream event. Mark your calendars because this giveaway is something you won’t want to miss!
### System Overview
At the heart of today's build, we've got an impressive lineup of components that come together to form a well-balanced system. Let’s take a closer look at each part:
- **Processor**: The AMD Ryzen 5 1600X, a 6-core, 12-thread powerhouse, unlocked for overclocking.
- **Cooler**: Paired with the Wraith Spire cooler, which is both efficient and holds up well during shipping.
- **Memory**: 16GB of Corsair Vengeance DDR4 memory running at 3000MHz.
- **Storage**: A Toshiba OC ZR C100 NVMe SSD offering 480GB of fast storage for your OS and games.
- **Graphics Card**: An EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti SuperClocked, ready to handle any gaming demands.
- **Motherboard**: The ROG Strix B450-I Gaming motherboard from Asus, featuring RGB lighting support and a mini ITX form factor.
- **Power Supply**: A reliable EVGA 500 WQ Gold power supply with all-black cabling.
- **Case**: The Razer Toro CR2080, a compact yet capable mini ITX case with room for full-size power supplies and 3.5-inch drive bays.
### Building Process
Let’s get into the nitty-gritty of how this build came together. Starting with the motherboard, we noticed the supplementary CPU power connector is in a challenging location—top left corner, anyone? It required some careful maneuvering to plug it in without causing any issues. Fortunately, removing the rear exhaust fan made the process manageable.
Next up was installing the SSD. The Toshiba OC ZR C100 is tiny, so finding the right mounting spots was crucial. Initially, we thought of using shorter mounts but quickly realized they were meant for the motherboard’s back. Joe suggested using an extension to mount it properly, which worked out great. We even kept a spacer in place for future flexibility.
### Challenges and Solutions
Mounting the SSD wasn’t without its hurdles. The case's design initially made it tricky, but with some adjustments, we managed to secure it稳固ly. The little stopper guide Joe mentioned proved invaluable, ensuring stability for whoever might swap out the SSD later.
The graphics card installation was another challenge. The EVGA 1070 Ti is a bit larger, so finding space in the mini ITX case required some creative solutions. Adding a front intake fan provided better airflow and made everything fit nicely.
### Final Assembly
With all internal components securely installed, we powered up the system for a quick test boot. Success! The power button lit up, and the system booted without issues. It’s always satisfying to see everything come together smoothly.
Windows installation is next on the agenda, but for now, the system is ready for its new owner. We’ve included all necessary links in the description for those interested in replicating this build or entering the giveaway.
### Conclusion
That wraps up today's build. We’re thrilled with how it turned out and hope you guys enjoyed the process as much as we did. The power of teamwork, as demonstrated by Joe’s input, really made a difference. It just goes to show that sometimes, a fresh perspective can solve even the trickiest problems.
