Changing the Default Browser on Your iPhone: A Step-by-Step Guide
Hey guys, I do myself here welcome back to the channel today I'm going to show you how to change the default browser on your iphone now in ios 13 and before apple would only allow you to use safari as a default browser on your iphone so for example if someone sends you a link on your iphone here in the message thread for example and you click on it it brings you directly to the safari web browser but what if you want to change that what if you want a third-party application to be your browser well apple has added that feature now you have the capabilities of switching for any browser or even in default a mail application.
The method applies the same but the application does have to be updated to support this latest feature in ios 14 i'm going to show you how to do that right now so let me head on over to the app store and show you here I'm going to be using google chrome and I'm going to be rerouting those links directly to google chrome changing the default browser from safari to google chrome.
After the filming of this video, Google has updated their chrome browser a day ago to support this feature in ios 14. This is how simple it is to change the default application so once you download the application and you have the link right it's available right here. You want to head on over to settings you want to scroll all the way down and find the extension for the application that you're looking to switch for one of the defaults again.
This only works for browsers and mail application as of right now pretty sure apple will add additional apps later once you find the extension click on the chrome right here. Click on the browser, the default browser option is set as safari we want to click chrome and that is as simple as that. Now when we get any link rather you're in a third-party application or an apple app and you get a link within the application you can click on it and this will reroute it to the third-party browser that you have set as default.
Now this is something that's available on the mac for years and this is something that apple has been working for the iphone for quite some time but here it is, it is available now again rerouting default application for your browser right here. It is now chrome can be your default browser on the iphone of course if you want to go back you can always go back to the extension and switch that back to safari if you wish to use safari.
But again now it is available application has to have the support so if you download your favorite browser just check on the extension if it says default browser options it means you can switch it. The same thing will apply for the emails application if you don't like using the stock emails application on your iphone.
